Abstract

This qualitative study explores the interplay between digital literacy and learning motivation in shaping students’ academic writing abilities within an Islamic higher education context. Guided by three research aims, it investigates how students describe the role of digital literacy in their writing processes, how learning motivation influences their writing behaviors, and how both factors interact in their writing development. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and document analysis, enabling the capture of students’ voices and personal narratives. Findings reveal that digital literacy supports efficient research, idea organization, and editing skills, while learning motivation sustains persistence and goal orientation in writing tasks. The interaction between these factors fosters both technical competence and value-driven writing practices rooted in Islamic principles. This study offers practical insights for curriculum design, pedagogical strategies, and institutional policies aimed at empowering students to write with confidence, purpose, and integrity.

Abstract

Abstract Radicalism among adolescents is a serious problem that requires a specific approach. This research aims to develop a strategy for preventing radicalism thru the internalization of religious moderation values (Wasathiyyah) using a da'wah psychology approach. The method used is a qualitative literature study with an analysis of various literature related to da'wah psychology, adolescent development, and religious moderation. The research results show the effectiveness of the three-stage value internalization model: (1) value receiving thru the introduction of the principles of al-tawassuth and al-tasamuh using creative media; (2) emotional responding thru group discussions and conflict simulations to instill al-i'tidal and al-tawazun; and (3) identity organizing thru mentoring programs and real-world actions. This strategy successfully addresses three factors that contribute to radicalism in adolescents: identity crisis, the need for group recognition, and cognitive conflict. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of a humanistic and contextual preventive da'wah model, particularly for shaping a moderate and tolerant young generation.

Abstract

Pesantren has a very big role in creating a superior and character-building generation in the nation. Since the beginning of the birth of Pesantren, the independence of Pesantren as a religious educational institution has not been in doubt. This study aims to synthesize the results of research on the economic independence of Islamic boarding schools to explore the research findings. So, it was obtaining a formula to realize the independence of Islamic boarding schools. This study is a literature review by using content analysis on a number of articles that have been published in various journals using Mendeley Searches with the keyword “Economic Independence of Islamic Boarding Schools” in the three-year range 2021-2023. These research steps adopt the theory developed by Francis & Baldesari (2006). Data obtained from Mendeley Searches was selected according to the research theme. Next, a content analysis is carried out. The findings of this study show that pesantren has the potential to achieve economic independence. The potential is elected from within the pesantren and outside the pesantren. There are several factors that can be implemented to realize the independence of pesantren, namely internal factors and external factors. This study also found measures that can be applied to realize the economic independence of pesantren in a sustainable manner

Abstract

This research aims to answer the anxiety that current Arabic language learners must immediately respond to the increasingly massive development of digital technology by presenting a thunkable platform in creating a digital Arabic-Indonesian dictionary application as an independent learning resource for Arabic language learners. With the millennial generation preferring digital over printed resources, this research explores using the Thunkable platform to create a digital Arabic-Indonesian dictionary as a self-learning tool. Using a waterfall and qualitative descriptive approach, the study outlines the creation and use of the app. The data in this research are data on developing a digital Arabic-Indonesian dictionary via a thunkable platform, application user data, data on using digital dictionary features, and evaluation data on Arabic language learning using a digital dictionary. The data collection technique this research uses involves qualitative methods, providing a comprehensive overview of how the Thunkable platform can develop digital dictionaries for Arabic language learning. Meanwhile, the data sources in this research were obtained from observations, interviews, questionnaires, learning tests, application log analysis, and documentation studies, which will produce in-depth data regarding the effectiveness and efficiency of the application as a learning resource for Arabic language learners. Then, the data obtained was analyzed in several stages: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Thanks to its translator feature and block-based programming, thunkable simplifies the process by eliminating the need for time-consuming vocabulary inventories and manual coding. The digital dictionary also works offline, offering flexible access for learners anytime, anywhere. This study demonstrates how technology can support independent learning and enhance Arabic language skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi internalisasi kesadaran kritis siswa melalui pembelajaran Sejarah Peradaban Islam (SPI) dalam merespons fenomena intoleransi di kalangan remaja. Latar belakang penelitian ini berangkat dari kegelisahan akan rendahnya refleksi sosial siswa terhadap isu keberagaman, padahal SPI memiliki potensi sebagai medium transformasi sosial. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif fenomenologis dengan teori pedagogi kritis Paulo Freire, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur, observasi, dan focus group discussion terhadap lima informan di MTs Wali Songo Sukajadi, Lampung Tengah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran SPI secara signifikan mendorong siswa untuk memahami nilai-nilai toleransi dari tokoh dan peristiwa Islam klasik, merefleksikan relevansinya terhadap situasi sosial kontemporer, serta menghadirkan ruang praksis untuk membentuk sikap inklusif. Namun, tantangan tetap muncul dalam hal konsistensi penerapan nilai tersebut dalam lingkungan nyata siswa. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada pendekatan interdisipliner yang menggabungkan pendidikan sejarah, teori kesadaran kritis, dan studi keislaman dalam konteks pendidikan madrasah tingkat menengah, serta penekanan pada SPI sebagai sarana pembentukan kesadaran sosial, bukan sekadar instrumen transfer pengetahuan historis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada integrasi materi Sejarah Peradaban Islam dalam pembelajaran Qirā'ah Bahasa Arab serta dampaknya terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di MTs Darul A’mal Metro. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus dipilih untuk menggali secara mendalam pengalaman dan persepsi para informan, yang terdiri dari dua siswa aktif, dua siswa pasif, seorang guru Bahasa Arab, dan satu wakil kepala sekolah bidang kurikulum. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur dan observasi kelas, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan tematik berdasarkan teori Miles, Huberman, dan Saldana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa aktif mengalami peningkatan dalam kemampuan berpikir kritis ketika pembelajaran Qirā'ah dikontekstualisasikan dengan sejarah Islam. Namun, siswa pasif tidak menunjukkan perkembangan signifikan karena minimnya keterlibatan dan motivasi belajar. Faktor lain yang menghambat efektivitas implementasi kurikulum integratif ini meliputi keterbatasan waktu, kurangnya interaksi kelas, dan pemahaman guru yang belum optimal dalam mengaitkan teks sejarah dengan pembelajaran bahasa Arab. Penelitian ini mengisi kekosongan literatur mengenai hubungan langsung antara pembelajaran sejarah Islam dan pengembangan keterampilan berpikir kritis dalam konteks kebahasaan, serta menawarkan pendekatan pedagogis baru bagi guru dan pengambil kebijakan pendidikan.

Abstract

Internet-Based Resources is one of the solutions for increasing an aspect of English proficiency. This study aimed at knowing the Internet-Based Resources in their learning and to encourage English students’ vocabulary. The method used in this research is experimental research. Sample of this study consisted of English students including 26 students as the experimental group and 26 students as the control group. Each class had five sessions that must be completed, those were treatments for three times, one post-test, and one pre-test. The result found that IBR is effective for students’ vocabulary in writing an interesting, exciting to use and in combining their ideas with new words or vocabulary easier. The mean of the post-test in the control group was 73.53, on the other hand, in the experimental group was 83.12; the degrees of freedom totaled 25, the sig. (2-tailed) was 0.000, and the standard deviation was 8.500. The computation shows that the t-test has a higher score. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a positive impact of this method to encourage students’ vocabulary in English Language Program. The vocabulary mostly achieved for pre-test and post- test in the control group was 412 to 370. However, in the experimental group, the pre-test and post-test ranged around 355 to 470. The increasing ratio of the experimental groups in acquiring vocabularies over Internet-Based Resources was 13.90%.

Abstract

Abstract Teacher candidates play a strategic role in ensuring the quality of future educational systems, yet many continue to encounter significant challenges during their teaching practicum, particularly related to pedagogical competence. This study investigates the pedagogical obstacles faced by EFL teacher candidates during their teaching performance in the English Laboratory of Muhammadiyah University of Metro. Using a descriptive qualitative design, data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis involving 12 assistants and 5 key informants. The findings reveal that teacher candidates commonly struggle with selecting appropriate teaching methods, managing students’ diverse learning abilities, and utilizing instructional media effectively. Moreover, the mismatch between chosen teaching strategies and students’ learning conditions often leads to ineffective learning processes. This study highlights the importance of strengthening pedagogical competence, including mastery of teaching methods, classroom management, and instructional media integration, to improve the teaching readiness of future teachers. The implications emphasize the need for more comprehensive pedagogical training and ongoing mentorship during teaching practicum programs.

Abstract

Multiculturalism in elementary education is essential for fostering inclusivity and tolerance in increasingly diverse societies. This study examines inclusive strategies for implementing multicultural education to cultivate understanding, empathy, and social harmony among students. Utilizing a qualitative approach with a literature review methodology, data was collected from scholarly sources, including academic journals and policy reports. The findings highlight the effectiveness of culturally responsive curricula, teacher training in multicultural competence, and the use of interactive media in enhancing students’ engagement and respect for diversity. However, challenges such as limited resources, inadequate teacher training, and attitudinal barriers persist. This study underscores the need for collaborative efforts to overcome these challenges and ensure the successful integration of multicultural principles in elementary education.

Abstract

Abstrak Pondok Pesantren salaf menekankan penguasaan kitab kuning dengan pendekatan gramatikal analitik melalui metode sorogan, bandongan, dan wetonan. Namun, di tengah perkembangan literasi Arab modern yang semakin dinamis, santri menghadapi kesulitan dalam memahami teks-teks arab kontemporer yang lebih komunikatif dan kontekstual. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan subjek santri kelas Alfiyah di Pondok Pesantren Ainul Falah, Lampung Timur. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterbatasan paparan terhadap teks Arab modern, dominasi pendekatan gramatikal, kurangnya penguasaan kosakata tematik kontemporer, serta keterbatasan media dan sumber pembelajaran merupakan faktor utama yang memengaruhi kesulitan santri. Meskipun santri memiliki kemampuan analitis yang kuat dalam membaca teks klasik, mereka menunjukkan kelemahan dalam memahami konteks wacana dan makna pragmatis dalam teks modern. Untuk menjembatani kesenjangan ini, diperlukan integrasi teks Arab kontemporer ke dalam kurikulum, pengajaran kosakata tematik secara kontekstual, penerapan pembelajaran berbasis diskusi wacana, dan pemanfaatan media digital.
