The development of this e-magazine uses a research and development method with the ADDIE model. The subject of this research is students of class VII G SMP Negeri 6 Pontianak. Data collection techniques are carried out by means of observation, interviews, questionnaires, as well as pretest and posttest. The results of the study based on expert tests show the feasibility of e-magazines with an average score of 0.8 with very high validity criteria. The implementation in the learning process showed the acquisition of an effect size value of 1.97 with the category of large effectiveness and the results of the analysis of students' problem-solving skills at each step in the Heller problem-solving strategy showed an average N-gain value of 0.49 with the medium category. The results of the students' response in the field trial showed a percentage of 80.75% with a very high category. From the acquisition of these data, it can be concluded that e-magazines based on problem solving assisted by virtual laboratories on temperature and heat materials can help the learning process of students and help improve problem-solving skills on temperature and heat materials.

Abstract

The availability of diagnostic instruments specifically designed to identify students' difficulties in solving problems related to static fluids is still limited, even though this material often leads to misconceptions and conceptual difficulties. This article aims to present the results of the development of a diagnostic test instrument to identify students' problem-solving difficulties in the static fluid material. This study employs the R&D (Research and Development) method using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The validation of the test instrument was assessed by two physics education lecturers and two physics teachers, covering content and language validation. The instrument validation results were analyzed using the Aiken index formula, obtaining a value of 0.83 with a high rating for content validation and a value of 0.93 with a high rating for language validation. The respondents in this study consisted of 95 students from grade XII. The test instrument provided consisted of essay questions, with each question containing two parts related to conceptual understanding and problem-solving ability. The analysis was conducted using Winsteps software. Based on the student response survey results regarding the diagnostic test, the average response percentage was 71%, which falls within the good criteria. The results of this study can be used as a reference for the development of instruments in physics, particularly static fluids, and help teachers better understand and address students' learning difficulties.

Abstract

The inadequate capacity of students to recognize and resolve difficulties, particularly with intricate concepts, has emerged as a significant concern in physics education. This project aims to develop a two-tier diagnostic assessment that utilizes augmented reality (AR) flashcards to identify students' challenges in problem-solving. This media-assisted assessment aims to visually represent concepts interactively while examining students' comprehension and the origins of their challenges. The study methodology employs the ADDIE development paradigm, encompassing analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Validation is performed by subject matter and media specialists, subsequently followed by trials with secondary education students. The study equipment comprises validation sheets, answer questionnaires, and diagnostic examinations supplemented by augmented reality flashcards. The study demonstrates that the two-tier diagnostic test augmented with AR flashcards effectively identifies students' challenges, particularly in grasping concepts and problem-solving processes, as indicated by a Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of 0.89. This media-assisted assessment enhances student engagement, as evidenced by survey findings indicating that students perceive it as easier to comprehend physics concepts through the instrument. This research is anticipated to motivate educators and institutions to create more creative AR-based learning media for evaluations and interactive learning

Abstract

This research aims to create a problem-solving e-module supplemented by a flipbook, for physics education targeting junior high school students. This study employed the research and development (R&D) method utilizing the ADDIE model, encompassing the phases of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research methodologies encompassed observation, interviews, questionnaires, and pre-tests and post-tests. This research employed a data analysis technique that incorporates quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis, utilizing the Aiken V index for data evaluation. The findings of this study demonstrated that the created e-module possesses a high feasibility level, evidenced by an average validation score of 0.83, classified as very valid. The deployment of the e-module among 28 seventh-grade students in class VII C at SMP Negeri 6 Pontianak yielded an effect size of 3.02, categorizing it as very effective, while the assessment of students' problem-solving abilities revealed an average N-Gain value of 0.53, indicating a modest level of improvement. The teacher's reaction rate was 97%, while the pupils' response rate during the field trial was 86%, both classified as exceptionally high. The results demonstrate that the problem-solving-based e-module, supplemented by a flipbook, is an excellent physics learning medium for enhancing problem-solving skills related to the theme of matter and its transformations.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the effectiveness of a teaching module using graphic organizers on student learning outcomes. This study is an experimental study. The research design adopts the preexperimental design of "one group pre-test-post-test design" design model. The population of this study included all VII B students, a total of 30 students. The sampling method used simple random sampling technique, therefore VII B was selected as the sampling study. The data collection methods used were testing, recording and observation. The research results show that the average score of the experimental class in the pre-test was 39.00, and the average score in the post-test was 81.00. The effect size results obtained therefore met the moderate criterion of 3.05. Based on the above introduction, the use of graphic organizer-based teaching modules can improve the enthusiasm and transfer learning outcomes of grade 7 students at SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Raya

Abstract

The advancement of knowledge and technology has a significant impact on the development of science education. In the 21st century, technological progress has influenced various aspects of human cognition, including learning processes and critical thinking abilities. Critical thinking skills are essential for personal growth beyond formal education. This study aims to investigate critical thinking skills, such as interpretation, analysis, inference, explanation, and evaluation. Employing a pre-experimental design, the research focuses on 10thgrade science students from the X MIPA 1 class at SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Batang. The sample is selected using a simple random sampling technique. The findings of the study indicate that a majority of the students, approximately 70.37% of the total sample (19 out of 27 students), demonstrate very low or low levels of critical thinking skills across all categories. Moreover, critical thinking skills in areas like analysis, inference, and evaluation also show relatively low levels. Therefore, it is recommended that future researchers utilize appropriate teaching methods to enhance students' critical thinking skills in each category and aspect being observed.
