Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan variasi skema argumentasi yang terbentuk melalui dialog inquiry pada siswa kelas XII SMA Negeri 2 Pasuruan dalam menyelesaikan materi eksponen. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan subjek empat kelompok diskusi. Data dikumpulkan melalui rekaman percakapan, lembar jawaban, dan wawancara, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan kerangka Toulmin argumentation pattern (TAP) yang mencakup komponen claim, data, warrant, backing, dan rebuttal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dialog inquiry memunculkan enam jenis skema argumentasi dengan tingkat kelengkapan yang berbeda, yaitu: (1) garbage argument, berupa pernyataan yang tidak relevan atau salah konsep; (2) simple argument, yang hanya berisi data dan klaim tanpa penjelasan logis; (3) warranted argument, yang menambahkan warrant sebagai penghubung logis antara data dan klaim; (4) supported argument, yang mencakup data, klaim, warrant, dan backing; (5) countered argument, yang memuat sanggahan meskipun belum disertai warrant maupun backing; serta (6) complete argument, yang mencakup seluruh elemen TAP. Variasi ini tampak berbeda pada setiap kelompok: kelompok 1 memperlihatkan perkembangan bertahap dari argumen tidak relevan hingga lengkap (progressive builders), kelompok 2 cenderung menyatukan ide parsial menjadi kerangka utuh (consolidated completers), kelompok 3 mengeksplorasi strategi permisalan dan induksi hingga membentuk argumen terdukung tanpa rebuttal (supported explorers), sedangkan kelompok 4 menghasilkan variasi paling beragam hingga mencapai struktur argumentasi menyeluruh (comprehensive integrators). Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa dialog inquiry berperan penting dalam melatih keterampilan berpikir kritis, logis, dan kolaboratif siswa, serta efektif mendorong perkembangan kualitas argumentasi matematis meskipun tingkat kelengkapannya masih bervariasi antar kelompok.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe students' mathematical literacy abilities based on the level of mathematical connection ability using a qualitative descriptive approach. The researcher as the main instrument was assisted by test questions to measure the ability to connect mathematics and mathematical literacy, as well as interviews. The research subjects were 3 class IX students of SMP Islam Pakis. Subject selection was made based on high, medium, and low levels of mathematical connection ability. The results showed: The selection of research subjects was carried out by purposive sampling technique based on high, medium, and low levels of mathematical connection ability. The results of the data analysis obtained: (1) students at a high level of mathematical connection succeeded in achieving all indicators of mathematical literacy ability, such as being able to identify the information contained in the problem, make mathematical models, do reasoning, use symbols, design and implement appropriate problem strategies, summarizing the results, as well as conducting evaluations; (2) students who are categorized in the moderate level of mathematical connection ability are able to achieve five of the seven indicator components contained in mathematical literacy ability; (3) students who belong to a low level of mathematical connection ability are only able to achieve three of the seven indicator components needed in literacy skills.

Abstract

Students' learning difficulties in mathematics need to be considered from various aspects including teachers, students, and parents. Some students think that mathematics is a very difficult subject, especially for some students at SDN Purutrejo 1 Pasuruan City. This study aims to determine the characteristics of mathematics learning difficulties in elementary school students, as well as efforts that can overcome mathematics learning difficulties. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Participants in this study were mathematics teachers and six grade VI students who were selected based on teacher suggestions. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the analysis of this study are to determine the characteristics of mathematics learning difficulties, understand different formulas and what to do first, both internal and external factors, overcome difficulties when learning mathematics with effort. Internal factors are students' lack of interest and motivation in learning mathematics, and external factors are students' learning strategies, learning equipment, home environment, environment. Efforts that teachers can make include seeking college counseling and academic advice, as well as efforts that parents can make to motivate children and support their learning
