ABSTRACTBackground: School age children are the future generation. Improvement the quality of human resources should be done early. One of factors affecting the quality of human resources is the nutritional status. Breakfast contributes in nutritional intake (15-25% RDA). Skipping of breakfast makes the body decreasing of glucose. It makes body to unload supplies of energy from fat tissue and cause of weight reduction. Objectives: To determine the relationship between breakfast habits with the nutritional status of elementary school children in Nusa Tenggara Timur Province. Methods: This was an observational study with cross-sectional design. This study used the secondary data of Alma Ata Centre for Healthy Life and Food (ACHEAF) 2013. The subjects were children from elementary school of classes between II-VI in Amanuban Barat and Kie Subdistrict, Timor Tengah SelatanDistrict with total sample of 313 students. Sample were selected by cluster random sampling technique using computer generated random number software. Data analysis used chi-square test with a confidence interval (CI) of 95% to the level of significance of p<0.05. Analysis by logistic regression was done if itshowed significance result. Results: The proportion of breakfast habits of school children was 82.11%. Most widely consumed breakfast type (78,32%) was rice (rice porridge and rice) and the other (21.68%) were non-rice eating breakfast (bose corn, yam/cassava, boiled bananas, instant noodles, corn porridge, bread/cooky). The contribution of breakfast energy intake is 13.94% RDA and protein intake was 14.4% RDA. There was no relationship between breakfast habits and nutritional status of elementary school children. Conclusions: Breakfast habits was not related with the nutritional status of school children in Amanuban Barat and Kie Sub-district.KEYWORDS: breakfast habits, nutritional status, school childrenABSTRAKLatar belakang: Anak usia sekolah merupakan generasi penerus bangsa. Penelitian ini menggunakan data sekunder Alma Ata Centre for Healthy Life and Food (ACHEAF ) 2013. Abstract

Upper Arm Circumference (LILA) is one of the indicators used in Indonesia to assess the risk of Chronic Energy Deficiency (KEK) in pregnant women and adult women. Chronic lack of energy for a long time causes the immune system to decrease so that the body is susceptible to infectious diseases, the decreased ability to concentrate which occurs is related to a decrease in iron stores. Upper Arm Circumference (LILA) measurement aims to analyze the relationship between Upper Arm Circumference (LILA) and the incidence of Chronic Energy Deficiency (KEK) in students at the Faculty of Public Health, Halu Oleo University. The method used is data analysis, involving measuring LILA and collecting data regarding nutritional status and factors that have the potential to influence KEK. The results of the analysis show that there is a significant relationship between LILA size and the incidence of CED. Of the 50 respondents studied, 52% experienced CED with a LILA size of less than 23.5 cm, which indicates the existence of serious nutritional problems among this population. It is hoped that this research will provide useful information for universities and health workers in efforts to prevent and treat nutritional problems among students.

Abstract

Blood pressure is the amount of blood flowing through blood vessels, and its normal value is <120/80 mmHg. Unbalanced blood pressure, such as hypertension (>140/90 mmHg) or hypotension (<90/60 mmHg), can be harmful to health. Hypotension causes dizziness and fainting due to inadequate blood supply, while hypertension increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and kidney failure. Hypertension in adolescents is influenced by lifestyle, obesity, stress, sleep duration and family history.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a medical condition usually characterized by blood glucose levels that exceed normal limits. Glucose in the blood comes from carbohydrates consumed through food, which are then stored as glycogen in the liver and skeletal muscles. Diabetes mellitus has a serious impact as the main cause of chronic complications, including coronary heart disease and stroke which accounts for 65% of deaths. Other complications, such as retinopathy and diabetic foot, are major causes of disability. Overall, these complications increase mortality, morbidity, disability, and the burden of medical costs. This article presents the results of research regarding blood glucose levels among the people of Kasilampe Village, Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi. This activity involved 50 respondents consisting of 15 men (30%) and 35 women (70%). The aim of this research is to identify blood sugar levels and increase public understanding of the importance of carrying out regular health checks. The method used in this research is the accidental sampling method, namely by selecting individuals who are accessible and willing to take blood glucose level checks. The examination results showed that 35 respondents (70%) had blood glucose levels below 140 mg/dL, which indicates good glucose control. Based on the results of the examination, there were 7 respondents (14%) in the range of 140-199 mg/dL, which indicates that the respondent's glucose level was included in the pre-diabetes category and 8 respondents (16%) had glucose levels ≥ 200 mg/dL, which indicates that the The respondent's glucose is included in the Diabetes category. These findings emphasize the need for appropriate health interventions and education regarding healthy eating patterns to prevent diabetes mellitus. It is hoped that this activity can become the basis for a more effective diabetes prevention program in the community.

Abstract

Uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism which can cause hyperuricemia if levels increase. Hyperuricemia, if left untreated, can cause joint inflammation, pain, and various other health problems. This study aims to evaluate Halu Oleo University students' understanding of gout and its impact on health. Using a quantitative approach and analytical descriptive design, this research involved 50 randomly selected respondents. Examination of uric acid levels is carried out by taking blood samples using the Nesco Multi Check device. The results showed that 70% of respondents had uric acid levels within normal limits, while 30% experienced hyperuricemia, which indicates a potential risk of developing gout. These findings suggest that unbalanced eating patterns, lack of physical activity, and inadequate fluid intake contribute to increased uric acid levels among college students. This research emphasizes the importance of education about healthy eating patterns and an active lifestyle to prevent health problems related to gout.
