Abstract

Crime remains a significant social problem in Kupang City, which recorded 2,173 criminal cases in the first half of 2024, necessitating a quantitative approach to understand its dynamics. This study aims to construct and analyze mathematical models of crime dynamics in Kupang City by considering the role of recidivism. Two compartmental models (S–C–P–R) are developed: a model with recidivism and a model without recidivism, each formulated as a system of ordinary differential equations. The analysis includes the determination of equilibrium points, the basic reproduction number (R0) using the Next Generation Matrix method, stability analysis via the Jacobian matrix and the Routh–Hurwitz criterion, sensitivity analysis, and numerical simulation using a Nonstandard Finite Difference (NSFD) scheme. Parameter estimation is performed through exponential regression based on crime data from Kupang City for the period 2013–2024. The results show that the model without recidivism yields R0 = 2.3525, indicating that criminal activity will persist and grow over time. The crime-free equilibrium point is locally asymptotically stable when R0  1, and sensitivity analysis identifies the transmission rate β as the most influential parameter affecting R0. In the model with recidivism, the feedback loop from the recovered compartment to the criminal compartment causes the crime-free equilibrium point to become unstable, and R0 is not well-defined due to the absence of a clear generational structure. These findings suggest that recidivism significantly complicates crime control and that strategies focused on reducing the transmission rate β are essential for suppressing criminal activity in Kupang City.

Abstract

Hospital waste has the potential to adversely affect human health and the environment if not properly managed. This study aims to analyze the relationship between waste type, waste components, and year of observation, and to determine the best three-dimensional log-linear model for waste data from Dr. Hendrikus Fernandes Larantuka Regional General Hospital for the period 2023–2025. The data used were secondary data from the Environmental Health Administration Department of Dr. Hendrikus Fernandes Larantuka Regional General Hospital. The variables analyzed included the year of observation, waste type, and waste components. The analysis was conducted using a three-dimensional log-linear model through a goodness-of-fit test, a partial association test, selection of the best model using the backward elimination method, and relative risk analysis. The results showed that the model fit the data based on the goodness-of-fit test, with a Pearson Chi-Square value of 2.170 and a significance level of 0.950 (>0.05). The partial association test indicated no significant association between waste type and waste components after controlling for year (p = 0.862). The best model obtained was the main effects model of waste components, with a Likelihood Ratio Chi-Square value of 2.943 and a significance level of 0.983 (>0.05). The relative risk analysis yielded an RR value of 2.32, indicating that the likelihood of solid waste components being present in non-infectious waste is 2.32 times greater than in infectious waste.

Abstract

Kemampuan literasi numerasi merupakan kompetensi yang harus dimiliki oleh siswa sekolah dasar sebagai fondasi dalam menguasai berbagai mata pelajaran. Namun, hasil asesmen nasional menunjukkan capaian literasi dan numerasi siswa tergolong rendah. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi dan numerasi siswa melalui pembelajaran matematika berbasis media interaktif di SD Inpres Naimata. Metode yang digunakan adalah menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis media interaktif menggunakan aplikasi Kahoot pada materi operasi bilangan serta evaluasi melalui pre-test dan post-test bagi kelas 5 SD Inpres Naimata. Sebanyak 19 siswa dengan rerata nilai pre test adalah 70,53 dan rerata nilai post test adalah 91,32. Hasil analisis uji t menunjukkan adanya peningkatan antara nilai rata-rata pre-test dan post-test siswa. Hal ini membuktikan penggunaan media interaktif berdampak nyata terhadap peningkatan kemampuan literasi dan numerasi serta meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa. Dengan demikian, pembelajaran matematika berbasis media interaktif direkomendasikan sebagai salah satu strategi inovatif dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran di sekolah dasar.
