Abstract

Abstract Environmental education programs in faith-based schools have predominantly focused on measurable outcomes and behavioral impacts, overlooking the critical role of leadership in cultivating sustainable environmental culture. This study examines how spiritual leadership influences the internalization of environmental values within Islamic educational institutions. Using a qualitative multiple-case study approach, this research investigates the mechanisms of integration of environmental ethics across seven eco-certified madrasahs in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with forty-two informants comprising school leaders, teachers, and students, complemented by document analysis and participatory observation. The study draws on Lickona’s character education theory to examine the moral and spiritual dimensions of environmental leadership. Three critical mechanisms emerged. First, spiritual leaders catalyze voluntary environmental stewardship by modeling eco-conscious behaviors rooted in Islamic teachings, creating authentic commitment rather than compliance. Second, systematic cultivation of environmental care culture transforms isolated activities into sustained institutional practices through ritualized habits and shared values. Third, curricular integration strengthens ecological consciousness by embedding faith-based environmental ethics across subject areas. This study demonstrates how spiritual leadership frameworks effectively advance environmental education beyond instrumental approaches. The findings offer practical implications for reconceptualizing environmental programs as integral character formation in school curricula and certification frameworks, developing professional development programs cultivating spiritual-ecological leadership competencies, and designing implementation models prioritizing cultural embedding through ritualized practices, offering transferable insights for sustainable education policy in diverse cultural contexts.

Abstract

AbstractFaith education is an important aspect in the life of a Muslim. The concept of faith education, according to Shaykh Taqiyuddin an-Nabhani, offers an in-depth view of the importance of correct understanding of religious beliefs in the lives of individuals and society. The main emphasis in this concept is to build a strong foundation in religious beliefs as a foundation for Muslim individuals. According to Shaikh Taqiyuddin an-Nabhani, faith education starts from an early age and includes learning about the Koran, hadith, the pillars of faith, the concept of monotheism, the characteristics of Allah, as well as the social and political context in Islam. This concept also emphasizes the harmonious relationship between religion and science. Good religious education can help individuals develop strong beliefs, a deep understanding of religious teachings, and awareness of their role in realizing a political system based on Islamic values. The aim of this research is to examine the concept of aqidah education according to Syaikh Taqiyuddin an-Nabhani in the book Nidzamul Islam. This research is library research with the research object being the book Nizham al-Islam. The research approach used is a content analysis approach. The results of the research show that the aqidah education contained in the book Nizham al-Islam is: to obtain true faith, humans must make their faith emerge from the thought process, always research and pay attention and always refer to their reason and believe in the existence of Allah SWT. Aqidah explains that behind the universe, humans and life there is a creator (al-Khaliq) who has created all three, and who has created everything else. He is Allah SWT. That the creator has created everything from nothing into existence. The book of the Koran comes from Allah SWT.Keywords: Faith Education, Taqiyuddin An Nabhani, Nidzamul Islam Book

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between sustainability reporting and firm value and investigates whether intellectual capital strengthens this relationship in companies listed in the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII). Firm value is proxied by Price to Book Value (PBV), sustainability reporting is measured using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) disclosure index, and intellectual capital is assessed using the Value Added Intellectual Coefficient (VAIC™) model. The sample consists of 30 JII-listed firms in 2024, analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Drawing on signaling theory and the resource-based view, sustainability reporting is expected to function as a credible signal of long-term value creation, while intellectual capital is assumed to enhance the firm’s ability to transform sustainability disclosure into competitive advantage. However, the findings indicate that sustainability reporting does not significantly affect firm value, and intellectual capital does not moderate this relationship. These results suggest that sustainability disclosure in the Islamic capital market context may not yet be perceived as value-relevant information by investors. The absence of a significant effect also raises concerns regarding disclosure quality and the potential perception of greenwashing, where sustainability reporting fulfills regulatory compliance but lacks substantive strategic integration. The study contributes to the literature by highlighting the signaling limitations of sustainability reporting and the underutilized strategic role of intellectual capital in emerging Islamic markets.

Abstract

Abstract

The traditional processing of Sikapa (Dioscorea hispida) is a form of adaptation by rural communities to meet the need for alternative food during the dry season. This study aims to document the stages of traditional Sikapa processing carried out by the community of Tapuan Hamlet, Tungka Village, Enrekang Regency. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach through direct observation and visual documentation without conducting laboratory tests. The results showed that the processing process includes nine main stages, starting from raw material selection, peeling, slicing, soaking in salt water, further soaking in running water, steaming, drying, to the final processing into Sikapa Chips and Sokko Sikapa. All stages are carried out consistently based on local knowledge passed down from generation to generation. This management produces food products that are shelf-stable, thus potentially supporting food security during the dry season. This documentation provides a factual description of community practices and serves as a basis for further research that assesses chemical aspects and food safety in more depth.

Abstract

The development of soft skills has become a crucial component of contemporary higher education, especially in terms of preparing graduates for social and professional life. Soft skills are closely linked to both employability and the development of moral character based on Islamic principles in the context of Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKI). The purpose of this study is to examine the opportunities, difficulties, and methods used in PTKI to help students develop their soft skills. Lecturers, faculty leaders, and students from various institutions, such as IAIN Kendari, Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari, IAIN Madura, UIN Datokarama Palu, IAIN Pare-Pare, and IAIN Bone, participated in in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach. The results show that classroom discussions, academic presentations, project-based learning, student organizations, and community service all contribute to the development of soft skills. They are still not systematically integrated into the curriculum, and cognitive outcomes are still given priority in evaluations, which limits the effectiveness of soft skills development in students. There are strategic opportunities for a more comprehensive PTKI education model by strengthening the integration of digital learning and Islamic values, which can enhance both soft skills and cognitive outcomes in students.
