Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of IAA-producing bacteria and phosphate solvents from the rhizosphere of Serbania grandiflora (L.) Pers on the germination of Vigna radiata (L.). This research began by isolating the rhizosphere bacterium Serbania grandiflora (L.) Pers, which was then characterized by cell morphology, grammatical and morphological characteristics. The ability of bacteria to dissolve phosphate was evaluated qualitatively by observing the presence of clear zones in Pikovskaya media, and quantitatively with a spectrophotometer. The isolate's ability to produce IAA was tested quantitatively using Salkowski reagent, and quantitatively using a spectrophotometer. For the effect of isolates on the growth of green beans, a completely randomized design (CRD) research design was used, with 4 treatments, namely P0 (sterile distilled water); P1 (IAA-producing bacterial culture); P2 (phosphate solubilizing bacterial culture); P3 (IAA producer and phosphate solubilizer). Vigna radiata L. seedling growth test was carried out in vitro on Murphy's medium. The research data were analyzed using the one-way ANOVA test. The results showed that 5 isolates had the ability to dissolve phosphate, with a phosphate solubility index ranging from 1.70-2.14, where isolate RT7 showed the highest value. The isolate's ability to produce IAA at concentrations ranged from 7.1 - 62.7 ppm, with the highest value shown by isolate RT6. The results showed that treatment with IAA-producing bacterial isolates plus phosphate solubilization properties showed a significantly different effect on Vigna radiata L. plant height compared to other treatments.

Abstract

This study aims to test the ability of endophytic bacterial isolates of cayenne pepper roots (Capsicum frutescens) to produce siderophore compounds and protease enzymes and to test the antagonistic activity of endophytic bacterial isolates in controlling the growth of plant pathogenic bacteria (Ralstonia solanacearum). The stages in this study are isolation of endophytic bacteria from cayenne pepper roots, siderophore production test, protease enzyme activity test, and biochemical and physiological characterization of potential endophytic bacteria, antagonistic test of endophytic bacteria against the growth of Ralstonia solanacearum bacteria. Endophytic bacteria were isolated from cayenne pepper plant roots taken from Selong, East Lombok. Characterization of siderophore-producing isolates used the Arnow test method. The activity of bacterial protease enzymes was tested qualitatively on Skim Milk Agar solid media. The antagonistic activity test of endophytic bacteria against pathogenic bacteria was carried out using the Kirby-Bauer diffusion method. Characterization of endophytic bacteria was carried out by observing colony morphology, Gram staining, and biochemical tests. There were 3 isolates that were able to produce siderophores (catecholate type) with codes EC5, EC12, and EC15. Six isolates showed protease enzyme activity with codes EC3, EC4, EC5, EC7, EC11, and EC15, with the highest Proteolytic Index (2.02) shown by isolate EC4. There were 3 isolates that were able to inhibit the growth of Ralstonia solanacearum (EC4, EC5, and EC15), with the highest inhibitory power shown by isolate EC15 (3.67 mm). The results of the study indicate that endophytic bacteria from cayenne pepper plant roots have the potential as biopesticides in the future.

Abstract

Rhizobacteria that are able to dissolve P and produce IAA can be used as component of biofertilizers to help increase plant growth, which can be a more environmentally friendly fertilizer alternative compared to chemical fertilizers. Rhizobacteria originating from sub-optimal environments have the potential to overcome environmental stress such as osmotic stress. To obtain potential isolates that can be used as biofertilizer, exploration of the rhizosphere of the sentigi (Pemphis acidula) has been carried out from the coast of Gili Sulat, Lombok. The method for isolating and selecting IAA producing bacteria was carried out using the colorimetric test method, while for the P solubilization ability, it was carried out by growing rhizobacteria on Pikovskaya media. Isolate PA6 with the highest IAA producing ability (21 ppm) and PL4 with the highest P solubilizing ability (20.9 ppm), were tested for their effect on the growth-promotion of Vigna radiata cultured on Murphy agar media by measuring the parameters of plant height, root length, fresh weight, and plant dry weight. Based on the One Way ANOVA statistical analysis with a p value ≤ 0.05, it showed that the inoculation of IAA-producing and P solvent rhizobacteria was proven to be able to have a significant effect with significantly different results on increasing plant dry weight. In the future, the isolate obtained can be developed into a biofertilizer component that can be applied in saline and dryland agriculture.

Abstract

Nutritional knowledge is a crucial factor in determining health and the balance between physical and mental development. Nutritional knowledge plays a crucial role in shaping a person's eating habits because it influences the types and amounts of food they choose. This study aimed to examine the relationship between nutritional knowledge and eating patterns among fifth-grade students in public elementary schools in Kediri District, West Lombok Regency, Indonesia. Using a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 221 students selected through simple random sampling from eight schools. Nutritional knowledge was measured using a multiple-choice test, while eating patterns were assessed through a structured questionnaire. Data analysis involved Chi-Square and Pearson correlation tests. The results showed a significant relationship between nutritional knowledge and eating patterns (p = 0.001), with a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.530). Most students demonstrated moderate nutritional knowledge (46.6%) and good eating patterns (66.5%). These findings suggest that higher nutritional knowledge is associated with healthier eating patterns. However, knowledge alone is not sufficient to ensure optimal eating behavior, as other factors such as family environment, food availability, and habits also play important roles. Strengthening nutrition education in schools and engaging parents in promoting healthy eating are recommended to improve students' dietary habits.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk mengajak siswa memilih ikan sebagai pemenuhan protein hewani, yang murah dan mudah didapat. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di SDN 1 Sesela dengan sasaran siswa kelas 6, dengan jumlah 25 orang. Semua siswa yang hadir mengikuti kegiatan dari awal hingga akhir. Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah dan tanya jawab. Metode ceramah digunakan untuk menyampaikan materi terkait dengan zat gizi protein pada ikan. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah: Ikan mengandung protein tinggi yang jika dikonsumsi sehari-hari oleh anak akan meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh dan mengurangi konsumsi karbohidrat, sehingga anak terhindar dari penyakit tidak menular seperti diabetes melitus.

Abstract

Keputusan Bersama Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan dan Kepala Administrasi Kepegawaian Negara No. 0433/P/1993 dan No.25 Tahun 1993 tentang petunjuk Pelaksanaan Jabatan Fungsional Guru dan Angka Kreditnya mengharuskan adanya poin pengembangan profesi guru melalui kegiattindakan kelas (PTK). Disisi lain para guru belum terbiasa melakukan hal tersebut, sehingga berakibat pada terhambatnya karier guru terutama setelah mereka mencapai pangkat/golongan IVa ke atas. Sejalan dengan fenomena tersebut maka permasalahan dalam pengabdian pada masyarakat ini adalah: Bagaimana tehnik menjadikan kegiatan penelitian di kalangan guru menjadi suatu kebutuhan dan kebiasaan yang terus menerus ? Untuk menjawab persoalan tersebut maka digunakan metode kegiatan berupa pendampingan dengan cara diskusi, tanya jawab dan tutorial pada guru-guru, dengan mengambil lokasi kegiatan SMP Negeri 11 Mataram. Kegiatan ini dirasakan sangat bermanfaat bagi para peserta (para guru) dalam memunculkan ide-ide baru bagi kegiatan penelitian yang dapat dikembangkan guru, menambah pemahaman tentang cara menulis proposal PTK serta meningkatkan kepercayaan diri untuk dapat melakukan penelitian di sekolah. Berdasarkan atas keberlangsungan pelaksanaan dan evaluasi yang telah berjalan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan ini berhasil dengan baik dengan manfaat sangat besar. Guru semakin menyadari pentingnya melakukan kegiatan penelitian sebagai bentuk pengembangan karya ilmiah yang menjadi kewajiban dan tugas pokoknya. Kegiatan pendampingan ini juga bermanfaat bagi guru-guru IPA SMP Negeri 11 Mataram dalam pengembangan prose belajar mengajar.

Abstract

Lulusan mandiri dan berdaya saing tinggi merupakan impian setiap perguruan tinggi. Kegiatan Pengenalan Potensi Komersial Materi Praktikum Enzim Lipase dilakukan untuk Impian tersebut terhadap mahasiswa S1 Pendidikan Biologi FKIP Unram 2022 yang terdiri dari 6 kelas. Kegiatan ini merupakan mata acara baru praktikum biokimia yang menonjolkan aspek potensi komersial dari enzim lipase. Metode pelaksanaan Kegiatan dimulai dengan menyampaikan aplikasi lipase dalam berbagai industri, dan peluangnya, dilanjutkan dengan parktikum guna membekali mahasiswa dengan proses screening guna mendapatkan mikroba sumber lipase yang potensial secara ekonomi serta pengenalan proses produksi lipase. Antusiasme mahasiswa terhadap mata acara berpotensi komersial dikumpulkan melalui angket yang divalidasi melalui program yang tersedia di Excel. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa 71.4% mahasiswa antusis terhadap topik tersebut dengan N-Gain yang masuk dalam kategori sedang.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah meningkatkan pemahaman tentang gizi seimbang untuk mencegah diabetes melitus pada anak. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan pada tanggal 13 Juli 2024 di SDN 2 Sesela, Gunungsari Lombok Barat. Penyampaian materi dilakukan dengan metode diskusi dan tanya jawab. Untuk mengetahui peningkatan pemahaman tentang gizi seimbang dilakukan pretes dan postes, hasil pretes dan postes dihitung gain ternormalisasi, kemudian dikonsultasikan ke dalam kategori rendah, sedang atau tinggi. Pada waktu pelaksanaan kegiatan, antusias peserta sangat tinggi, terlihat pada saat mengerjakan pretes maupun postes semua peserta didik mengerjakan dengan sungguh-sungguh dan bekerja sendiri-sendiri. Pada waktu penyampaian materi mereka merespon dengan sangat baik. Hasil penghitungan gain ternormalisasi sebesar 0,43 yang berarti pengetahuan peserta tentang gizi seimbang untuk mencegah diabetes melitus meningkat dengan kategori sedang. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah: (1). Pemahaman tentang gizi seimbang untuk mencegah diabetes melitus peserta didik SDN 2 Sesela Lombok Barat meningkat dalam kategori sedang; (2). Menjalankan pedoman makan gizi seimbang dalam isi piringku dan tumpeng gizi seimbang serta sepuluh pesan gizi seimbang, akan menunjang perilaku gizi baik dan perilaku hidup bersih sehat, sehingga dapat mencegah diabetes melitus.

Abstract

This study examines student responses upon the implementation of Biochemistry Laboratory Manual which focused on science-economics. The manual was implemented on Biochemistry poracticum classes for 3 consecutive schedules. Students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning outcomes were recorded that implies their responses to the topic. Validated questions and questionnaires were used and were administered before the first and after the third round of practicum classes. Data analysis employed Student T-tests. It was revealed that the implementation of the Laboratory Manual moderately enhances biochemistry learning achievements (N-Gain) and the students responded positive and very positive toward the topic at 80% and 18% respectively.

Abstract

Tren yang berkembang saat ini praktikum dijadikan sebagai metode pengembangan sains berorientasi inkuiri terbuka guna mengembangkan kreativitas secara mendalam. Rendahnya kreativitas mahasiswa seperti kemampuan menghasilkan produk kreatif akan dikembangkan dengan pendekatan mini project open inquiry-based dengan tujuan membekali mahasiswa keterampilan kerja ilmiah dan membangun kreativitasnya guna bisa menghasilkan produk kreatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 49 orang mahasiswa calon guru Biologi yang memprogramkan mata kuliah Mikrobiologi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Quasi Eksperiment One Group Pre-test Post-test Design. Data penelitian diolah menggunakan Uji beda rata-rata (Uji Mann-Whitney) dan uji N-gain untuk melihat peningkatan yang terjadi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran praktikum Mikrobiologi berbasis Mini-Project dapat meningkatkan kecakapan bekerja ilmiah (N-gain, sedang) mahasiswa calon guru Biologi. Berdasarkan hasil asesmen formatif melalui asesmen proses dan produk dapat disimpulkan bahwa implementasi praktikum mini-project memengaruhi perkembangan keterampilan membuat dan menyelesaikan proyek, pemahaman teori praktikum, keterampilan laboratorium, sikap ilmiah dan kemampuan komunikasi verbal calon guru Biologi. Karakteristik sintak pedagogi Praktikum Mini-Project dapat membekali mahasiswa keterampilan dasar laboratorium, melatih bekerja ilmiah dan membekalkan kemampuan membuat rencana/rancangan proyek dalam bentuk Mini-Project. Selama implementasi Praktikum Creative Mini-Project mahasiswa bekerja dengan didasarkan pada rasa ingin tahu yang tinggi yang mendasari munculnya ide-ide kreatif untuk mengembangkan proyek. Berdasarkan temuan dalam penelitian ini, model praktikum mini-project berpotensi baik untuk digunakan sebagai model praktikum inovatif dengan didahului oleh guided inquiry sebagai scafolding action sehingga mahasiswa benar-benar siap untuk melakukan mini-project.
