Abstract

Population growth and increased community mobility have contributed to high traffic density in Bekasi, which has also driven the growth of online transportation services such as online motorcycle taxis. Online motorcycle taxi drivers face various work demands, such as income targets, time pressure, and heavy traffic conditions, which can cause job stress and affect their driving behavior. The purpose of this study is to assess the links between job stress and aggressive driving in online motorcycle taxi drivers at the Bekasi Station  Shelter. This study was conducted using a quantitative, correlational design. The study respondents were 107 online motorcycle taxi drivers at the Gojek Shelter at Bekasi Station, selected using total sampling. The research instruments consisted modified of a job stress scale and aggressive driving scale. Data were analyzed using Spearman’s rho correlation. The results indicated a significant positive relationship between job stress and aggressive driving (r = 0.381; p < 0.05). This means that the higher the level of job stress experienced, the greater the tendency for drivers to engage in aggressive driving, and vice versa. These findings may serve as useful input for both companies and online motorcycle taxi drivers in developing strategies and policies to manage stress and ensure driving safety.

Abstract

The phenomenon of children being positioned as future investments and economic providers remains common in collectivistic societies, where family expectations are strongly shaped by filial obligation and intergenerational reciprocity. Although parental investment has been widely associated with child development and social mobility, limited attention has been given to the psychological experiences of individuals who are expected to secure their family's future economic well-being. This study explored the lived experiences of individuals who perceived themselves as their family's future investment and primary economic provider. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed to understand the meanings attached to these experiences. The participants were two first-born young adults (aged 25–27 years) who had experienced persistent parental expectations since adolescence, assumed financial responsibilities in early adulthood, and participated in eight semi-structured interview sessions. Data were analyzed using phenomenological thematic analysis. Five themes emerged: the internalization of economic expectations as a moral obligation, conflict between personal aspirations and family obligations, psychological distress characterized by anxiety and fear of failure, perceptions of conditional parental affection, and emotional ambivalence involving gratitude, responsibility, exhaustion, and disappointment. The findings indicate that being positioned as a family investment extends beyond economic responsibility, shaping identity formation, autonomy, and psychological well-being. By examining these experiences phenomenologically, this study highlights invisible grief and identity conflict as overlooked psychological consequences of familial economic expectations. The findings extend current understanding of parental investment, family obligation, and intergenerational reciprocity while providing insights for psychologists, counselors, and families within Indonesian collectivistic contexts.

Abstract

Passenger density on commuter trains during peak hours creates conditions that may influence individuals' social behavior. Although time pressure and crowded environments have the potential to reduce prosocial behavior, some passengers continue to demonstrate helping behaviors toward others. One factor that is assumed to contribute to the development of prosocial behavior is individuals' tendency to conform to the social norms prevailing in their surroundings. This study aimed to examine whether conformity influences the prosocial behavior of commuter train passengers at Bekasi Station during peak hours. A quantitative approach was employed using a simple linear regression design. The participants consisted of 113 commuter train passengers at Bekasi Station selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a conformity scale and a prosocial behavior scale and were subsequently analyzed using SPSS version 25. The regression analysis indicated that conformity had a positive and significant effect on prosocial behavior (F = 12.387; p = 0.001). The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.100) showed that conformity accounted for 10% of the variance in prosocial behavior. These findings suggest that higher levels of conformity to prevailing social norms are associated with a greater tendency to engage in prosocial behavior.
