Abstract

Transmission of HIV/AIDS occurs through body fluids containing the HIV virus, namely through sexual intercourse, both homosexual and heterosexual, injection needles in narcotics users, blood transfusions, and from HIV-infected mothers to their babies born. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between spiritual level and the quality of life of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) at the Medan Plus Foundation, Medan. The design of this research is quantitative with observational analysis using a cross sectional approach. HIV/AIDS infection has now affected all groups of people, both high-risk groups and the general. The results of the study showed that the number of respondents with a low spiritual level in PLWHA was 16 respondents, all of them with poor quality of life were 15 respondents (68.1%), and 1 respondent had a good quality of life (4.5%). Meanwhile, as many as 6 respondents who have a good spiritual level with a quality of life of PLWHA less than 2 respondents (9.0%), and 4 respondents who have a good quality of life (18.1%). With the results of the Chi-Square analysis obtained p value = 0.015. It can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between spiritual level and quality of life. Spirituality is an important dimension that must be considered in assessing the quality of life because spiritual disturbances will cause severe psychological disorders, including suicidal ideation.

Abstract

Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) are infections that occur in healthcare settings. HAIs or infections occur between 48 hours to 72 hours after hospital admission or after hospital discharge within 30 days. The incidence of infections continues to increase between 4.8%-21%. The increasing incidence of infection indicates a decrease in the quality of hospital services. The chain of infection transmission can occur through infectious agents, reservoirs, ports of exit, transmission, ports of entry, and the host. The purpose of training is to increase the knowledge of healthcare workers, develop skills, and attitudes so that work can be completed properly, quickly, accurately, and rationally, create a willingness to cooperate with other employees and leaders. The targets of basic infection prevention and control training activities in hospitals are environmental health workers, nurses, pharmacists, analysts, radiologists, and funeral directors. The total participants were 55 people, the activity was held November 25-26, 2022, in meeting room two. The results of the pretest and posttest were the lowest score for the pretest 40 and the highest score of of 95, with an average score of 68. The results of the posttest were the lowest score 60 and the highest score 100 with an average score of 91. The results of the activity show that the participants' understanding has increased where the results of the pretest and posttest have increased, so that through training participants can do their job well and can work together with IPCN and leaders.

Abstract

One form of mental disorder is hallucinations. Hallucinations are false or false perceptions but there is no stimulus that causes them or there is no object. In Indonesian mental hospitals, around 70% of the hallucinations experienced by mental patients are auditory hallucinations, 20% are visual hallucinations, and 10% are nasal, tasting and tactile hallucinations. A family is a group of two or more individuals who are bound by blood, marriage or adoption, and each family member always interacts with each other (Mubarak, 2009). The family is seen as a system, so mental disorders in one family member will disrupt all systems, or family conditions. This is a factor that causes mental disorders in family members. It can be concluded how important the role of the family is in the occurrence of mental disorders and the readjustment process after completing the treatment program. Therefore, family involvement in treatment is very beneficial to the patient's recovery process (Yosep, 2009). However, for serious illnesses or life-threatening illnesses, family crises can occur, where the family experiences brief chaos as a response to the force of the stressor. The research design used in this study was a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test design. The characteristic of this research is that it reveals cause and effect relationships by involving a group of subjects. From the research results, it was found that the level of family knowledge before health education was carried out regarding the care of patients with sensory perception disorders, auditory hallucinations, most of the respondents were still lacking. The level of family knowledge after health education was carried out regarding the care of patients with auditory hallucinations problems increased compared to before health education. Apart from that, there is an influence of health education on increasing family knowledge about caring for patients with sensory perception disorders, auditory hallucinations.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a significant public health challenge in Indonesia, including the city of Medan. This study aimed to determine the prevalence, demographic distribution (by sex and age group), and mortality rates of DHF in Medan from 2021 to 2024. This study used secondary data from reports provided by the Medan City Health Office, which compiled information from all public health centers (Puskesmas) in the region. Analysis of the data revealed that the pediatric age group (5–14 years) was the most affected population. The distribution of cases showed a relatively balanced proportion between males and females. DHF mortality rates fluctuated annually, with a notable downward trend observed in 2024. These findings underscore the critical need to strengthen DHF prevention and control programs, with a specific focus on vulnerable age groups and high-incidence areas. This study is expected to serve as a foundational resource for public health policy planning and to enhance the capacity of primary healthcare services to effectively manage DHF cases.
