Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Chitosan is a prebiotic obtained from fishery waste raw materials such as shrimp heads and crab shells which are abundant in Indonesia. Prebiotics are indigestible ingredients that produce beneficial effects on the host by selectively stimulating the growth of one or more specific bacteria. LAB from the genera Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium have potential as probiotic agents that are beneficial for human and animal health. The amount of probiotics can be optimized by using prebiotics. The synergistic concept between probiotics and prebiotics is known as synbiotics. This research aims to see the effect of the combination of chitosan and Lactobacillus acidophilus on the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria in Vivo. Methods: E. coli in cecum duck was determinant by plate count method. Results: The average of E. coli content in the cecum of pegagan duck were : 40.00; 78.33; 21.67; 19.33 dan 11.00x105 CFU/mL for treatment A (control), B, C, D, E, F, G, and H respectively. Conclusion: The results showed that the treatment had significant effect (P<0,05) on E. coli. Keywords : L. acidophilus sp, Chitosan 0,2%, E. coli

Abstract

Background: Platelet transfusion is an essential medical intervention for patients with thrombocytopenia or abnormalities in hemostasis. Therefore, understanding the quality of platelet components used for transfusion is crucial, including evaluating the platelet count in each unit. According to data from the Blood Transfusion Unit (UTDRS) at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang in 2024, out of a total platelet requirement of 2,904 units, 13,264 units of TC-PRP and 1,540 units of Platelet Apheresis were transfused. Objective: To determine the differences in platelet counts between Platelet Apheresis and Platelet Rich Plasma (TC-PRP) units at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang. Methods: This study was a laboratory-based observational analytic study with a comparative approach. The samples consisted of 20 TC-PRP units and 20 Platelet Apheresis units, selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Independent Sample T-Test. Results: The statistical analysis showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference in platelet counts between Platelet Apheresis and TC-PRP units. Conclusion: The study concluded that the quality of platelet components, based on platelet count, is higher in Platelet Apheresis compared to TC-PRP. Recommendation: Clinicians may prefer platelet apheresis in therapy to achieve more optimal benefits, especially when adequate doses of TC-PRP are difficult to obtain.

Abstract

Self-confidence is a crucial aspect of early childhood development because it forms the basis for children's courage to perform, express their ideas, and actively participate in learning activities and social life. Children with self-confidence tend to be more optimistic, independent in decision-making, and motivated to achieve. Conversely, low self-confidence can hinder a child's socialization process and potential development. This study aims to describe how Islamic singing activities can be used as a learning strategy to increase self-confidence while instilling the values of monotheism in early childhood. The research method used was qualitative with a descriptive approach. The subjects were early childhood students at SPS IT Ar Rahim, with data sources obtained from teachers and the principal selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of learning activities. The primary research instrument was the researcher herself, assisted by interview guidelines, observation sheets, and field notes. Data analysis was conducted thematically using the Miles & Huberman model, encompassing the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was maintained using source and method triangulation techniques.
