Abstract

This study aims to present a history of city branding: hyper-competition, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. The method used in this study used qualitative with a literature study approach. The findings in the study showed that in understanding the place and building city branding, there are at least three processes first through urban governance planning or infrastructure, then observation by looking at other places in the city branding. Finally, branding representation on social media is in the form of websites and tweets through news, while Instagram is through branding images from somewhere and several other media. Furthermore, City branding can be hyper-competition, showing that business competition is increasing. On the other hand, it can be a challenge and an opportunity considering that many cities have reimagined their competitive strategies by maximizing their internal potential, namely existing resources, to take opportunities and anticipate the threats faced. The contribution of this study provides an understanding of measurements in the city branding literature, helps researchers discover new studies, and can interpret the complex nature of cities. Another thing is that closing the gap between theory and practice presents a huge challenge for brands.

Abstract

This article aims to analyse the role of the Aceh Ulama Council (MPU) in the implementation of halal certification for food and beverage products, and its relation to the protection of Muslim consumers, from the perspective of Islamic economic law. The research method used is qualitative, with a juridical-empirical approach, drawing on literature studies, related regulations, and interviews with consumers and the Aceh MPU LPPOM. The results of the study show that although Aceh Qanun No. 8 of 2016 on the Halal Product Guarantee System has been in effect since 2016, its implementation remains suboptimal. This can be seen from the large number of food and beverage products, including imported products, that are circulating without halal labels. LPPOM MPU Aceh plays a role in the halal certification process through administrative checks, laboratory testing, and certificate issuance. Still, its implementation is hampered by low consumer awareness, limited business compliance, and a lack of coordination among relevant institutions. From a Sharia economic law perspective, the existence of halal certification is not only a form of protection for Muslim consumers but also the implementation of the halalan thayyiban principle to safeguard the interests of the people and create a sense of security in the consumption of everyday products. Therefore, strengthening regulations, increasing the capacity of business actors, and continuously educating the public are essential steps to raise awareness of the importance of halal products and achieve the objectives of Islamic economic law optimally.

Abstract

This article discusses the analysis related to the implementation of Article 2 of Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage, which regulates the validity of marriages conducted according to the laws of each religion and the necessity of marriage registration. However, in some cases occurring in the village of Sianjo-Anjo Meriah, Gunung Meriah Subdistrict, Aceh Singkil Regency, cases of unregistered marriages (nikah siri) have been found, which were not registered at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA). This study seeks to analyze the perspectives of the local community and village administration regarding nikah siri, and to further assess the legal certainty and effectiveness of protecting the rights of wives and children in the context of unregistered marriages at the Gunung Meriah KUA, as well as its implications for Article 2 of Law No. 1 of 1974 on Marriage and Islamic law. The research employs an empirical (socio-legal) method with a case and statute approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with village officials and community leaders, alongside analysis of judicial decisions. The findings of this study reveal that the practice of unregistered marriage (nikah siri) in Sianjo-Anjo Meriah Village stems from social and administrative factors. Although such marriages are religiously valid, they are not legally recognized by the state due to the absence of official registration at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA). Consequently, wives and children are deprived of legal protections that should be guaranteed by the state. Therefore, intensive legal education, simplified access to marriage registration, and encouragement for couples who have entered into nikah siri to file for marriage validation (isbat nikah) at the Singkil Sharia Court are essential to ensure formal legal recognition.

Abstract

This study investigates the linguistic landscape in tourism spaces in Puncak, a popular tourist destination in West Java, Indonesia. It explores the diversity, distribution, and functions of languages used, as well as the reasons why this phenomenon occurred in this specific area, where people host tourists. Using a qualitative approach, this research examines language use in signs, advertisements, and public notices, revealing the socio-cultural and economic dynamics that shape language choices. Findings highlight the prominence of three languages: Indonesian, Arabic, and English, reflecting local identity, the influence of Middle Eastern tourists, and global tourism trends. The study also investigates how multilingualism, cultural identity, and the commodification of languages interact in tourism. By examining the symbolic and informational roles of language in public spaces, this research contributes to an understanding of sociolinguistic diversity in multicultural tourism settings. It offers insights for the development of inclusive language policies, especially in tourism spaces.

Abstract

While digital payment systems have become ubiquitous in tourism, traditional adoption models often overlook the critical role of personal competencies in mature digital ecosystems. This study investigates the impact of self-efficacy and perceived financial literacy (PFL) on digital payment adoption and evaluation among travelers. Using an integrative framework combining TAM, DOI, and UTAUT, and grounded in Social Signaling Theory, data were collected from 495 Indonesian tourists and analyzed via PLS-SEM. The results reveal a significant paradigm shift: traditional drivers such as relative advantage and observability are non-significant, suggesting a "technological domestication" effect where digital benefits have become normalized. Instead, compatibility emerged as the primary driver of actual use. Furthermore, self-efficacy and PFL are core drivers of technological perceptions, with PFL acting as a critical cognitive filter for compatibility and complexity. Finally, actual use strongly predicts user evaluation, confirming Expectation-Confirmation Theory. These findings suggest that in normalized digital landscapes, adoption is driven by contextual resonance and psychological empowerment rather than mere utility. Practically, fintech providers should prioritize user-centric design and literacy-building strategies to foster sustained engagement and long-term loyalty in the travel sector.
