Abstract

Literature review plays a crucial role in social research by providing a comprehensive understanding of previous studies, identifying knowledge gaps, and guiding further research. This study aims to conduct a literature review within the field of social research. The research methodology includes determining the scope, identifying data sources from Scopus, Web of Science (WoS), and Google Scholar (GS), data collection through reading and creating a comparison matrix, data analysis, interpretation, and synthesis. Determining the scope of the literature review involves defining the research boundaries and specifying key concepts, themes, and timeframes to be included. The identification of data sources from Scopus, WoS, and GS ensures comprehensive coverage by accessing scholarly articles, journals, conference papers, and other publications in the social sciences. The data collection process involves reading and analyzing selected articles, and extracting key information such as research objectives, methodologies, theoretical frameworks, findings, and knowledge gaps. Data analysis involves examining the information collected from the comparison matrix, identifying significant trends, and establishing connections between different sources. Through thematic analysis, the data is categorized into relevant themes. Data interpretation involves critically analyzing the findings and discussing their implications within the research context. Finally, the data is synthesized by integrating key findings and providing a comprehensive overview of the existing literature on the chosen topic. In conclusion, a literature review in social research provides an in-depth understanding of recent developments, identifies knowledge gaps, and provides a solid theoretical foundation for further research. Abstract

This study analyzes health communication in the context of public policy through the YouTube video “Polemic on BPJS Regulation 2025” on the BeritaSatu channel. The main issue raised is the ineffectiveness of government communication in disseminating the new BPJS regulation, which triggered predominantly negative public responses. The objective of this research is to examine the government's communication narrative and public reactions expressed in the video comments. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, employing content and thematic analysis, supported by NVivo 12 software to systematically map public opinion. The findings show that negative sentiment dominates (69%), reflecting unclear policy information, public distrust, and anxiety over children’s health services. This study highlights the importance of responsive, participatory, and adaptive health communication strategies in digital media contexts. The findings offer theoretical implications for developing public policy communication and practical recommendations for government agencies to design public communication based on digital literacy and social trust.

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly influenced educational practices, particularly in shaping communication processes between teachers and students. This study aims to examine the utilization of AI in learning activities and its impact on educational communication at SMA Negeri 2 Bandung. Specifically, it focuses on how AI affects teacher–student interaction, communication patterns, and the pedagogical role of AI in the classroom. This study employed a convergent mixed-methods design, integrating quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data were collected through a survey of 187 students, while qualitative data were obtained from in-depth interviews with two teachers and five students. The findings indicate that approximately 89% of students use AI regularly or occasionally, primarily for academic purposes, with ChatGPT as the most frequently used platform. The results reveal that AI enhances students’ access to information and learning efficiency; however, it also reshapes communication patterns. Students tend to reduce direct consultation with teachers, shifting toward more independent, AI-assisted learning. At the same time, qualitative findings show that teachers remain essential in guiding interpretation, fostering critical thinking, and maintaining meaningful educational interaction. This study highlights a key paradox: while AI increases functional learning efficiency, it may weaken dialogic communication and critical engagement if not properly guided. Therefore, the integration of AI in education should emphasize teacher supervision, digital literacy, and human-centered communication practices. Abstract

Health literacy plays an essential role in effective self-management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). There is insufficient research in the qualitative literature on health information processing among Indonesian urban populations seeking primary healthcare. This exploratory phenomenological study aimed to explore the lived experience of seven adults with T2DM in Bandung, Indonesia, in relation to health information processing and barriers to understanding. The data were collectedvia in-depth interviews (December 2025-January 2026) and analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. Considering the sample size of seven individuals purposefully selected, the results can be considered preliminary and non-generalizable. Four main themes arose from the analysis: (1) varied sources of health information and variable abilities to evaluate health information sources; (2) comprehension barriers due to technical medical language without sufficient context; (3) barriers to patient-health worker communication because of structural, linguistic, and cultural factors; and (4) various influences of digital media and peer socialization on health behavior. It was identified that health literacy is a continuum process, which depends not only on personal characteristics of patients but also on the communicative setting of medical consultations. Recommended actions for addressing the problem include health workers’ training on patient-centered communication (e.g., teach-back technique), development of online resources
