Abstract

Aceh, a post-conflict region in Indonesia, continues to face challenges in fostering social cohesion and reconciliation through education. Despite its crucial role in peacebuilding, peace education remains insufficiently integrated into the formal curriculum. This study investigated the systematic incorporation of peace education within the junior high school Social Studies curriculum in Aceh through a Research and Development (R&D) design. The research consisted of three phases: (1) curriculum mapping to identify opportunities for peace-related themes, (2) development of a structured peace education module, and (3) evaluation of its effectiveness through classroom observations, focus group discussions (FGDs), interviews, and pre- and post-tests involving 70 students and 9 teachers in Pidie Regency. Findings showed that values such as tolerance, mediation, and conflict resolution are implicitly present in existing materials but lack structured pedagogical integration. The developed module, validated by experts and teachers, significantly improved students’ understanding of peace concepts, empathy, and conflict resolution skills. Embedding peace education into existing curricula, rather than introducing it as a separate subject, proved more sustainable and contextually effective. The study highlighted the importance of comprehensive teacher training and supportive policy frameworks to enable large-scale implementation, this research supports Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4 and SDG 16), advancing quality education, peace, and strong institutions. The model offers a scalable framework for integrating peace education into Social Studies curricula in other post-conflict regions.

Abstract

In order to maintain the stability of the quality of Islamic education; Islamic conflict management in Child Friendly Elementry School (CFES) is a necessity; in order to minimize the chance of conflict and bring friendliness evenly to all HR in schools, including teachers; as one of the most critical components in the education process in elementary school. The purpose of this study is to find out; (1) the forms of conflict that occurred, (2) technical and (3) Islamic nuance conflict regulation strategies applied at the Lhokseumawe CFES, and (4) CFES efforts to minimise conflict. This study uses a qualitative approach using techniques: documentation review, direct observation, and in-depth interviews conducted with principals and teachers, to obtain data and information related to the four objectives of this study. The results of the study show that: six forms of conflict occur in CFES, namely conflict: within individuals, between individuals, between individuals and groups/divisions, between groups/groups, between organisations, and between individuals in different organisations. Domination of conflict only occurs in the personal aspects of the teacher, which is motivated by family reasons, limited capacity, heavy workload, etc. However, every conflict that emerges can be implemented well, based on three technical management of conflict, namely: identification of conflicts, evaluation of conflict and resolution of conflicts that are Islamic in nature through a spiritual/religious and family approach (ukhuwah). Islamic nuances of conflict management strategies applied in CFES very prioritising collaboration, accommodation, compromise (deliberation), communication, and negotiations that prioritise the values of ukhuwah Islamiyah. An added benefit of CFES in minimising conflict is to have three specific things, namely: having conflict prevention programs and policies, having a structured conflict management program, and having a climate/culture and teacher friendly social interaction; which is always applied in all aspects of the implementation of education in schools.Manajemen Konflik Bernuansa Islami Di Sd Ramah Anak Kota Lhokseumawe

Abstract

The development of an innovative Islamic Education (PAI) curriculum has become an urgent need in responding to the challenges of 21st-century learning, particularly in state Islamic senior high schools that are required to integrate Islamic values, technology, and character education. This study aims to develop an innovative ADDIE-based Islamic Education curriculum development model for teachers in Innovative State Islamic Senior High Schools (Madrasah Aliyah Negeri) in Aceh Province. This research employed a mixed-methods approach by combining qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, while quantitative data were obtained through expert validation and teacher practicality tests. The needs analysis revealed a significant gap between the ideal curriculum design and classroom practices, especially in terms of instructional innovation, technology integration, and character strengthening. The design and development stages resulted in an innovative Islamic Education curriculum module that is student-centered, integrative, contextual, and grounded in Islamic values. Expert validation results indicated a very high level of feasibility, with average scores ranging from 91% to 93% across content, language, and graphical aspects. The implementation of the model in three madrasahs demonstrated its effectiveness in enhancing teachers’ creativity, increasing students’ learning motivation, and improving the relevance of learning materials to real-life contexts. This study concludes that the ADDIE-based Islamic Education curriculum model is valid, practical, and effective. The findings imply that the model can be scaled up through systematic professional development programs for Islamic Education teachers and supported by educational policies that promote curriculum innovation grounded in Islamic values.

Abstract

Abstract

The globalization of education has intensified demands for quality and competitiveness within education systems, particularly in producing graduates equipped with 21st-century competencies. In this context, the integration of international curricula such as Cambridge and the International Baccalaureate (IB) has emerged as an innovative strategy to enhance the quality of teaching and learning. This study aims to analyze differences in the implementation of international curriculum integration between public and private schools in Aceh, as well as its impact on educational quality. This research employs a systematic literature review method, examining scholarly publications from 2020 to 2026, using content analysis and thematic synthesis approaches. The findings reveal significant differences between public and private schools in terms of institutional readiness, implementation processes, and educational quality outcomes. Private schools tend to demonstrate greater effectiveness in integrating international curricula, supported by managerial flexibility, adequate resources, and access to professional development and global networks. In contrast, public schools continue to face several challenges, including limited teacher competencies, inadequate infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks that are not yet fully adaptive. These findings indicate that the successful integration of international curricula is strongly influenced by the overall readiness of the education system. Therefore, comprehensive policy support, capacity building of human resources, and strengthening of the educational ecosystem in public schools are essential to enable the optimal adoption of global educational practices.
