Abstract

Abstract

Training and development of human resources (HR) play a strategic role in improving the performance of educational institutions amid policy changes and rapid technological advancement. The success of educational institutions is not solely determined by technological progress but is strongly influenced by the quality of educators and educational staff in managing learning processes and educational services. This study aims to examine the urgency of HR training and development as a strategy for enhancing institutional performance in education. The research employs a qualitative approach using a library research design by reviewing scholarly books, national and international journal articles, and relevant policy documents. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis through thematic categorization, including concepts of HR training and development, their urgency in the digital era, and their implications for the performance of educational institutions. The findings indicate that training serves as a short-term, practical mechanism for improving operational competence, while HR development functions as a long-term strategic investment in preparing professional, adaptive, and competitive human resources. Systematically designed training and development programs through needs analysis, planning, implementation, and evaluation which contribute significantly to improving the quality of educational services and the effectiveness of institutional performance. Therefore, HR training and development should be positioned as an integral component of quality management in educational institutions to support sustainable performance improvement.

Abstract

Polypropylene (PP) membranes exhibit advantageous characteristics for filtration processes, including chemical resistance, thermal stability, hydrophobicity, low cost, and mechanical durability, making them well-suited for long-term applications in water treatment, particularly for removing organic compounds. This study aims to evaluate the performance of hollow fiber PP membranes in the ultrafiltration of humic acid solutions, serving as a model organic contaminant. The experimental setup involved filtering a 15 mg/L humic acid solution in demineralized water at 1 bar for 120 minutes. Performance evaluation focused on three parameters: pure water flux, humic acid permeate flux, and rejection efficiency. The initial pure water flux reached 72 L/m²·h, decreasing to approximately 57 L/m²·h within the first 20 minutes, indicating membrane compaction. The humic acid permeate flux declined from 42 to 33 L/m²·h, attributed to fouling caused by physical and chemical interactions between humic acid and the PP membrane surface. Rejection efficiency dropped from an initial 90% to 75% by the end of the process. The observed performance degradation was linked to adsorption, pore blocking, and concentration polarization. Despite their structural advantages, PP membranes are prone to organic fouling; therefore, surface modification and feedwater pretreatment are recommended to optimize long-term performance.

Abstract

Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is a key strategy in public health promotion aimed at improving quality of life through behavioral change. According to data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, the implementation of PHBS has not yet been fully integrated into daily life, highlighting the need for effective educational approaches. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of various educational media on PHBS behavior in communities through a systematic literature review. Articles were collected from the Garuda and Google Scholar databases, covering publications from 2021 to 2025. The selection process followed PRISMA guidelines and resulted in eight articles that were analyzed based on study design, type of educational media, and intervention outcomes. The findings indicate that educational media such as videos, social media, posters, leaflets, educational games, lectures, and discussions contribute to improving knowledge, attitudes, and PHBS practices. Social media and videos demonstrate strong potential for broad and repeated information dissemination, while print media and direct methods are more suitable for populations less familiar with technology. These findings suggest that educational media are an effective and relevant approach to enhancing PHBS implementation in the community.

Abstract

Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) remains a significant public health issue, with low rates of bystander basic life support (BLS) provision globally. Improving BLS preparedness among schoolteachers may contribute to strengthening early emergency response capacity. The objective of this research is to examine changes in knowledge and attitudes following video simulation-based basic life support training among junior high school teachers. A quasi-experimental one-group pre-post study was conducted among 30 purposively selected teachers from a public junior high school in Samarinda City. Knowledge and attitudes were measured using validated questionnaires before and after the intervention. Changes in categorical outcomes were analyzed using McNemar’s test, and effect size was calculated using Cohen’s w. Significant improvements were observed in both knowledge and attitudes after the training (p < 0.001). The proportion of teachers categorized as having adequate knowledge increased from 4.2% to 96.7%, while positive attitudes increased from 6.7% to 83.3%. A large effect size was identified (Cohen’s w = 0.856). However, given the absence of a control group, the observed improvements cannot be fully attributed to the intervention. Video simulation-based BLS training was associated with improvements in knowledge and attitudes among junior high school teachers. These findings suggest potential educational benefits; however, causal interpretations should be made cautiously due to the quasi-experimental design.
