Abstract

Earthquakes are one of the natural disasters that frequently occur in Indonesia and claim many lives. Kediri City is an earthquake-prone area because it is home to one of the active volcanoes, Kelud Mountain. Children are among the vulnerable groups most at risk of being affected by disasters. Preparedness is important to be provided early to provide understanding and guidance on the appropriate steps to take when a threat occurs to reduce disaster risk. This community service activity aimed to determine the effect of simulation on earthquake disaster preparedness among students of SDN Pojok 2, Kediri City. The method used a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design. The samples were taken using cluster random sampling and the sample size used was 46 students. The preparedness data were collected using a questionnaire. The data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. The results of the activity showed that the level of preparedness before the disaster simulation was almost entirely low (80.5%), the level of preparedness after the disaster simulation was almost entirely high (86.9%), and there was an effect of simulation on earthquake disaster preparedness among students of SDN Pojok 2, Kediri City (ρ = 0.000). Preparedness simulations have significantly improved elementary school students' disaster preparedness. Therefore, it is hoped that disaster management simulations can be implemented in all schools in Kediri City, with training provided to elementary school teachers.

Abstract

Implementasi edukasi pola hidup sehat terkait diabetes melitus dan hipertensi selama pandemi COVID-19 melibatkan persiapan, pelaksanaan, dukungan, dan kolaborasi. Materi edukasi komprehensif disampaikan melalui sesi tatap muka dan virtual serta media sosial. Evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan, sikap, dan perilaku kesehatan peserta. Program ini mendorong adopsi pola makan seimbang, aktivitas fisik rutin, dan manajemen stres efektif. Kolaborasi dengan organisasi kesehatan dan komunitas lokal memperluas jangkauan program. Meskipun dihadapi tantangan seperti pembatasan sosial dan akses terbatas, solusi adaptif telah diterapkan untuk memastikan kelangsungan program. Evaluasi kontinu dan adaptasi strategi mendukung upaya program dalam mencapai perubahan positif dalam kesehatan masyarakat.

Abstract

Communicable diseases including COVID-19 remain a public health problem that requires prevention efforts based on community empowerment. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of the community in the working area of Sukorame Public Health Center, Kediri City, in producing hand sanitizer containing 60% alcohol with aloe vera as an additional ingredient. The method used was an educational-participatory approach through health education, discussion, demonstration, hands-on practice, mentoring, and evaluation using pre-tests, post-tests, and skill observation. The results showed an increase in the good knowledge category from 17.8% to 77.8% after the education session. In addition, 84.4% of participants were able to independently produce hand sanitizer according to the procedure. This activity shows that education and practical training are effective in improving community capacity for preventing communicable diseases. The results of this community service are important as a form of community empowerment to support sustainable clean and healthy living behavior.
