Abstract

Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body and emotions go through big changes, which can make her feel more stressed and worried. Even though staying active is good for her health, many pregnant women don't take part in physical activities. This shows that there's a strong need for easy-to-reach, fun, and non-drug treatments that help moms feel better. A community program was created to help pregnant women learn more about their health, get emotional support, and stay fit through a digital yoga program called Prenatal Happy Yoga. The program included 27 pregnant women who were grouped by the trimesters. It had three parts: first, getting ready and checking their health, then having talks about mental health and doing yoga exercises that match each stage of pregnancy, all led by trained instructors. Lastly, they collected feedback from the participants. The program was based on the Theory of Planned Behavior, which looks at how attitudes, what others think, and how easy it is to do something influence healthy choices. The results showed that the women were very involved, loved the sharing sessions, and enjoyed the 50-minute yoga classes. After the program, they had a better understanding of how important it is to keep both their body and mind in balance during pregnancy. Even though there were some small technical problems, the program ran smoothly and shows promise for being used more widely as a digital health and prevention tool for pregnant women.

Abstract

Introduction: Preeclampsia remains a major cause of maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide, making early risk identification an important component of antenatal care. Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) has been recommended as a simple and cost-effective screening method for predicting the risk of preeclampsia. However, its application in primary healthcare settings remains limited. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of MAP-based preeclampsia screening training on midwives’ knowledge of early preeclampsia detection. Methods: A one-group pretest–posttest study was conducted among midwives participating in a MAP-based preeclampsia screening training program. Forty-two midwives attended the training, and 37 who completed both assessments were included in the analysis. The training covered the concept of MAP, accurate blood pressure measurement procedures, MAP calculation, and interpretation of MAP values for identifying women at risk of preeclampsia. Knowledge was assessed using a structured 20-item questionnaire administered before and after the training. Data normality was tested using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test, and differences between pretest and posttest scores were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: Knowledge scores improved following the training, with a mean increase of 3.35 points. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (p = 0.018), indicating that the training effectively enhanced participants’ understanding of MAP-based preeclampsia screening. The findings suggest that a short structured educational intervention can improve knowledge related to early preeclampsia detection. Conclusion: MAP-based preeclampsia screening training significantly improved midwives’ knowledge regarding early detection of preeclampsia. Incorporating similar training into continuing professional development programs may strengthen early risk identification in maternal healthcare. Further studies with larger samples, control groups, and longer follow-up periods are needed to assess knowledge retention and clinical implementation.

Abstract

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is hyperglycemia during pregnancy, which can increase oxidative stress and reactive oxygen species (ROS). This oxidative stress can adversely affect fetal developmental processes, including body length, ocular development, blood flow, and heart rate. Curcuma longa extract, containing curcumin, has been shown to possess antidiabetic and antioxidant properties. Nanoemulsions have demonstrated efficacy in enhancing the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of herbal compounds. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a nanoemulsion of Curcuma longa extract on body length, ocular apoptosis, blood flow, and heart rate in zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos exposed to high glucose concentrations. Zebrafish has many benefits as it has 70% orthologous genes with humans, high fecundity, and rapid embryogenesis. Nanoemulsions were prepared using the self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (SNEDDS) technique. Embryos were allocated to five groups: control, 3% glucose, and 3% glucose with 1.25, 2.5, or 5 µg/mL nanoemulsion of Curcuma longa extract. The results showed that a 1.25 µg/mL nanoemulsion of Curcuma longa extract reduced phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) expression, increased body length, and mitigated developmental process disorders by decreasing ocular apoptosis and maintaining blood flow and heart rate in high glucose-induced zebrafish embryos. These findings suggest that a nanoemulsion of Curcuma longa extract may have potential therapeutic applications in managing the adverse effects of hyperglycemia on fetal development in GDM.

Abstract

The golden age is a critical time in a child's development that influences their social, emotional, and intellectual progress. However, there are still challenges in tracking children's growth and development in early childhood education institutions, particularly with the manual recording system and the lack of cooperation with medical professionals. In order to provide the integrated, long-term monitoring of children's growth and development, digital technologies are therefore required. In order to monitor growth and development based on Stimulation, Detection, and Early Intervention of Growth and Development (SDIDTK) at KB-TK Labschool Unesa 2 Surabaya, this community service project intends to use digital innovation through the deteksianaksehat.com website. The activity technique involves identifying problems, setting up facilities, and administering growth and development tests to 35 PG, Kindergarten A, and Kindergarten B pupils utilising e-SDIDTK based on the deteksianaksehat.com website. The activity's outcomes demonstrated improvements in the pace at which children's growth and development were reported, as well as in examination efficiency and recording accuracy. Of the 35 children, 73% displayed development that was age-appropriate, 24% fell into the questionable category, and 3% had deviations that needed more investigation. The digital, effective, and long-lasting early detection of children's growth and development has been strengthened by the deployment of e-SDIDTK via the deteksianaksehat.com website. In order to support the Integrative Holistic Preschool Program, it also improves the digital literacy of preschool teachers and fosters communication between educators, parents, and health professionals.

Abstract

Background: Early mobilization is an important component of postpartum recovery; however, psychological barriers such as fear, low confidence, and limited support often delay its initiation. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of motivational interventions in accelerating postpartum mobilization and improving maternal self-efficacy. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was employed involving 40 postpartum mothers who were equally divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention group received structured motivational support during the early postpartum period. Data on the timing of first mobilization and self-efficacy levels were collected using validated instruments. Statistical analysis was conducted using the independent t-test to compare mean differences between groups and the paired t-test to measure changes before and after the intervention. Results: The intervention group demonstrated a significantly earlier mean time to first mobilization (8.2 ± 1.3 hours) compared to the control group (13.6 ± 2.1 hours) (p < 0.001). Self-efficacy scores in the intervention group also showed a significant increase from 62.5 ± 6.7 at baseline to 80.2 ± 5.1 after the intervention (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Motivational interventions effectively accelerate postpartum mobilization and enhance maternal self-efficacy. Integrating motivational strategies into postpartum care is recommended to support optimal maternal recovery

Abstract

There are several intense discussions in the literature regarding the effectiveness of using physical punishment to discipline children, as well as its impact on the development of aggressive behaviors in children and adolescents. This literature review aims to investigate literature related to the use of physical punishment on children and the associated impact of physical punishment on child behavior development. A total of 10 articles were selected using PRISMA flowchart from relevant databases: PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Cochrane based on inclusion criteria. The literature indicates that physical punishment by parents is significantly associated with various child behaviors. It causes children to experience long-term depression until adolescence and adulthood. Additionally, the review suggests that children who experience physical punishment at home may suffer negative consequences at school. The research findings emphasize the importance of opposing the use of physical punishment as disciplinary method by parents and increasing awareness of the negative effects.
