Abstract

Climate change has an impact on increasing the temperature of the earth's surface which causes an increase in extreme weather such as floods and droughts. Climate change adaptation is an effort to increase the ability to adapt to changes, including climate diversity and extreme climate events, so that the potential damage caused by climate change can be reduced, opportunities posed by climate change can be utilized and the consequences can be overcome. This study discusses hydrological disasters due to climate change with a change adaptation approach, through environmentally sound drainage or ecodrain. One of the chosen forms of ecodrain is infiltration wells. Excess water that causes flooding can be reduced by storing excess water into the soil. Water that is absorbed into the soil is beneficial for the continuity of groundwater. From the results of the discussion, it is known that with extreme weather changes, evaporation exceeds the amount of rainfall in certain months in Pekanbaru City in 2018. The potential for water loss from this area results in the emergence of potential drought. However, as long as the annual rainfall value is greater than the evaporation value, the annual meteorological drought in the area can be avoided. On the other hand, the design of infiltration wells in the Hang Tuah Cipta Housing area is able to reduce runoff that occurs by 70% of the total runoff to be absorbed into the ground. Thus infiltration wells are able to provide benefits in reducing flooding and saving groundwater.

Abstract

Rainwater harvesting that is good and right by the needs of household clean water is one of the problems for the people in the islands in Indonesia, especially Merbau Island which is located in the Kepulauan Meranti Regency, Riau Province. The only source of clean water that can be enjoyed easily and cheaply is rainwater. Rainfall on Merbau Island ranges between 2.000 – 4.000 mm per year which is classified as moderate. A survey of 100 randomly selected people was conducted, with a questionnaire containing components for rainwater harvesting (RWH) and other core questions. If available rainfall is used optimally, the need for clean water on the island can be met. Calculation of rainwater for cooking, drinking and washing needs is estimated to be around 15 lpcd. The data obtained is rainfall in 2016 with a total rainfall of 1,754 mm, roof storage area of 36 m2, and the type of roof used is zinc. Rain cycle V2 simulation produces a 3 m3 volume rainwater storage tank, with a construction cost of Rp. 10,365,000. This tank can meet the needs of clean water for five family members for a year.

Abstract

The problem of flooding in Tuah Madani District, Pekanbaru City, needs attention. Drainage and flood control systems need to be made to accommodate excess water and hold water somewhere. Groundwater management is directed at creating a balance between groundwater utilization and soil conservation efforts through the application of ecodrain which affects the conditions and characteristics of the area which provides an overview of land hydrology in parcels by comparing the height of the land with the receiving water bodies. as a drainage outlet. This research aims to create a map of groundwater depth and soil permeability based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for the feasibility of infiltration well locations in Tuah Madani District in implementing ecodrain. The research method was carried out by collecting data on the coordinates of infiltration wells at 30 points in five areas of Tuah Madani District. then measure the depth of the groundwater table and test the permeability in the field. Data is processed using ArcGIS. The results of mapping the depth of the groundwater table in the area are classified as shallow (1.28m–3.58m). Only 4 locations (Tuah Karya and West Sidomulyo) out of 30 sample locations did not meet the standards. Meanwhile, the permability value obtained was 2.61–11.07 cm/hour. Technically, the procedure for planning infiltration wells (SNI03-2453-2002) fulfills two conditions, namely a minimum groundwater depth of 1.50 m and soil permeability ≥ 2.0 cm/hour. Based on the contour lines of Tuah Madani District, it displays a pattern of groundwater flow from high flow to low flow at each point of the wellbore, the highest points on the map are colored blue (Air Putih and Sidomulyo Barat), while the lowest points on the map are Air Putih and Sidomulyo Barat. red (Tuah Madani, Luah Karya and Sialangmunggu).

Abstract

The Population growth and development in an area lead to increased water demand and reduced use of green land. These changes can cause environmental degradation, decrease in environmental quality and existing water resources. Therefore, wise and sustainable development is needed for society. In this case the Government of Pekanbaru City has included a policy on Water Resources and Infiltration Wells in the Regional Regulation (PERDA No. 10 of 2006). One of the main objectives of implementing the PERDA is to prevent stagnation of water during the rainy season which can be detrimental to the community, especially in residential areas and other buildings. However, some researchers has stated the reality in the field that the implementation of this PERDA is not going well. Technical provisions for the use of infiltration wells are water level elevation and soil permeability which must meet the requirements. Therefore, this study aims to measure the elevation of the groundwater table, test the permeability of the soil and present the test values and measurements on a spatial map Therefore, this study aims to measure the elevation of the groundwater table, test the permeability of the soil and present the test and measurement values into a spatial map based on a geographic information system (GIS). This spatial map depicts the coordinates of sampling points that provide information on permeability values and groundwater levels, as well as recommendations for making infiltration wells at each sample point that meet the requirements. Thus, this spatial map can help residents or the government to obtain information on which locations are recommended for infiltration wells, because not all locations can be used.

Abstract

Abstract

Ikhlas Waste Bank is a newly established waste bank in 2023, located in Perumahan Putri Tujuh II, Sidomulyo Barat Village, Pekanbaru City. This waste bank currently has a relatively small number of customers, comprising only about 24% of the households. Additionally, the activities at the waste bank are still in the early stages of sorting waste. Therefore, the development of the waste bank is expected to improve waste management, both in terms of increasing the number of customers and expanding the range of activities. The method for this initiative involves motivating and educating residents through outreach and socialization. The material includes encouraging residents to raise awareness about reducing waste at landfills (TPA) and turning waste into money by depositing it at the waste bank. Furthermore, training is provided on creative activities to utilize waste through 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) practices. The 3R waste utilization training is very popular among residents, as it provides new skills and knowledge and offers economic benefits. Various recycled products are made from waste, such as wallets, bags, laptop cases, tumbler covers, and more. These products can be used personally or marketed online. Thus, the waste bank not only collects waste from the community but also transforms it into useful items.
