Abstract

Knee pain is a disorder that affects the articular cartilage, subchondral bone, synovium, joint capsule, and ligaments. The prognosis for knee pain can be good if the disease can be found in the early stages of damage. Until now, no cure has been found that can definitely cure knee pain and this disease often causes interference in daily activities. This research uses a quantitative type of research with a Quasi-Experimental research design with a two groups pre and post-test design. To measure the degree of pain, knee pain was measured using the NRS (Numeric Rating Scale). The total sample was 36 sufferers according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria in Ngrambe Village, Ngawi Regency. Then treated with a combination of herbal clove oil (Syzygium aromaticum) and local point acupuncture therapy. Combination therapy of clove oil   (Syzygium aromaticum) with acupuncture is effective in reducing the scale of knee pain in Ngrambe Village, Ngawi Regency.

Abstract

Hypertension is the second highest cause of death in Indonesia (25.8%) in outpatients. Acupuncture has been used to treat various diseases including hypertension. The purpose of this study was to determine the acupuncture’s effect of PC6 and LV3 combined with YNSA Ypsilon HT and LV points in cases of essential hypertension (ICD 10: I10) grade I, II. The study was conducted in Ngargorejo, Ngemplak, Boyolali from October 2018 to March 2019 using a design (RCT) or randomized experiment with 33 subjects, divided into experimental groups (17 people) and control groups (16 people) with SRS  as a sampling technique. Mann-Whitney obtained p <0.05, which means that there was an acupuncture effect of PC6 and LV3 combined with YNSA Ypsilon HT and LV on blood pressure reduction. The systolic pressure was p <0.05 and the diastolic pressure was p> 0.05 in the control group. While the experimental group's systolic and diastolic pressures were p <0.05. It can conclude that PC6 and LV3 combined with YNSA Ypsilon HT and LV points had more effect on systolic and diastolic pressure reduction than sham acupuncture which only affected systolic pressure reduction with short-term effects.

Abstract

High soil acidity is one of the problems caused low groundnut productivity on South Kalimantan. Using adaptive variety is one effort for increasing yield. The objective of this research was to determine the yield performance and tolerance of groundnut to soil acidity on swamp areas. This research was conducted on acid sulphate soil at Jajangkit Timur-Batola-South Kalimantan on wet season of 2003/04 and on swamp area at Setiap-Pandawan-Hulu Sungai Tengah-South Kalimantan on dry season of 2003. This research was arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. Twelve genotypes and 3 check varieties i.e. Jerapah, Singa and Lokal variety, were tested on those regions. The result showed that some groundnut promising lines had good performance on acid sulphate soil and swamp areas. Performance of yield and its component  were influenced by soil environment, i.e. soil acidity, Ca content and Al saturated. The best five promising lines on acid sulphate soil were GH-3, GH-4, GH-5, GH-8 and GH-9, while on swamp area were GH-2, GH-5, GH-6, GH-9 and GH-11. Two promising lines, i.e. GH-5 and GH-9, performed better on both areas.   Key words: Performance, groundnut, swamp areas
