Abstract

This study aimed to determine the emergence of post-synchronization estrus, cement deposition during Artificial Insemination (IB) and the number of buffalo pregnancy in Kampar District. The hormones used in this study were PGF2α and GNRH. The Chi Square used as analysis data method with variables measured were cement deposition (4th, 2nd cervical ring), buffalo pregnancy (number of pregnant; not pregnant) and estrus (buffalo estrus; not estrus). The results showed that the percentage of post-synchronous estrous buffalo was 84.61% and postsynchronized buffalo cattle which was not estrous was 15.39%. Chi Sqaure analysis for estrus on pregnancy was X²count> X²table (9.4545> 3.841) and cement deposition on pregnancy was X²count> X²table (40.7524> 3.841). Theresults of this study indicated that estrus synchronization in buffalo in Kampar Regency was able to produce estrus up to 84.61%. The post-synchronous estrus also showed a significant relationship with the number of pregnancies. The cement deposition on the 4th cervical ring also has a significant relationship with the number of buffalo pregnancy in Kampar District.

Abstract

Nutrients are needed by livestock to maintain the viability of the animal itself. Completeness of nutrients pregnancy, child birth weight, weaning weight and keep the child after the parent state when lactation. While the male animals, completeness nutrients in animal feed can maintain the quality of sperm produced. The food is reasonably necessary for the normal functioning endoktrin. Levels of food affect the synthesis and release of hormones from endoktrin. Growth and development of the reproductive organs of cattle is inhibited by lack of food regardless of whether because of low levels of energy, protein, minerals or vitamins. Therefore it is necessary to maintain forage nutritional completeness in this case will help the management of livestock reproduction. Reproduction disrupted livestock and poultry farms will harm the survival of the animal itself. This paper is a contribution of ideas and a review of several studies on the role of nutrition in animal reproduction.

Abstract

Spermatozoa sexing requires a diluent that can protect and provide an optimal environment to maintain the quality of spermatozoa. This study targets to determine the effectiveness of adding sucrose to tris-egg yolk diluent on the sperm quality of the swamp buffaloes produced by sexing with the egg albumin method. Semen was collected once a week for 12 consecutive weeks with an artificial vagina from three male buffaloes at the Indonesian Center for Animal Research and Development (ICARD) in April - June 2021. Semen was separated by sedimentation using 10% and 30% egg albumins. Semen from sexing was divided into four diluent treatments, namely 20% tris-egg yolk (TEY), TEY+0% sucrose, TEY+0.2% sucrose, TEY+0.3% sucrose, and TEY+0.4% sucrose. Parameters measured included: motility, viability, intact plasm membrane, and intact acrosome cap of buffalo sperm. The results showed the motility of X sperm: 43.75-47.5%, Y sperm: 40-45%, the viability of X sperm: 78.25-79.75% and Y sperm: 77.25-79.75%, intact plasm membrane of X sperm: 70.5-71.5% and Y sperm: 70.5-71%, and viable acrosome-intact for X sperm: 79-80% and Y sperm: 78.75-79.5%. The addition of sucrose up to 0.4% into tris-egg yolk diluent was proven can maintain motility, viability, and integrity of cell membrane and acrosome of spermatozoa of water buffalo that was sexed with egg albumin.
