Abstract

Burns are a condition where there is damage to the epidermis layer down to the dermis layer. The skin structure sustains damage from the epithelium to the basal layer of the dermis. You can use the herbal Chinese pepper (Peperomia pellucida L.) for burn treatment. This study aims to evaluate the impact of administering Chinese betel leaf ointment, with variations in concentration and formula, on the duration of burn wound healing and the diameter of wound closure. Methods There were 30 Mus musculus mice in this study. Divided them into five groups: a regular group without burns, a positive control group that received gentamicin, treatment group 1 that received a low concentration 5% ethanol extract of Chinese betel leaf (EECB) ointment, a treatment group 2 that received a low concentration 10% EECB ointment, and a treatment group 3 that received a high concentration 15% EECB ointment. Results demonstrate wound closure activity by measuring the diameter of burn wounds treated with a 15% concentration of Chinese pepper ointment on the 18th day and a 15% concentration closed the burn wound. Histopathological differences were seen in the K3 group, where collagen density scored +3 (±0.06). We found a very weak positive correlation (0.000) between histopathology (collagen) and wound diameter and a strong negative correlation (-0.0527) between the histopathological parameter (collagen) and the duration of burn wound healing. Conclusion. The research concludes that the effectiveness of administering Chinese betel leaf ointment with a concentration of 15% was obtained

Abstract

In society, excessive use of drugs often occurs without a doctor's prescription and does not comply with the indications, dosage, technique, and duration of use, all of which can have a negative impact on health. Health cadres play an important role in inviting the community to come to health services, supporting medical personnel at integrated health posts, and helping the community access health information. This activity aims to improve cadres' knowledge and skills regarding drug use as well as skills in conveying information to the community. Implementation activities consist of several stages, namely: 1) Preparation, 2) Planning, and 3) Activities, Monitoring and Evaluation. The results of the activity showed that there was an increase in cadres' knowledge and skills regarding drug use as well as skills in conveying information in the community. It is hoped that health officers in the work area of the community health center can provide training and update information about health to cadres in order to create intelligent cadres, healthy communities and an advanced Indonesia.

Abstract

Background:Crinum asiaticum leaves are recognized for their wound healing properties, particularly in treating abrasive or inflamed wounds. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of a transdermal patch prepared from Crinum asiaticum leaf extracts in reducing inflammation. Methods: The preparation involved applying coconut oil to the fruit, roasting it, and then using it on the affected area. Leaf samples and extracts were utilized to formulate transdermal patches at three different concentrations (1%, 3%, and 5%). The patches were assessed organoleptically for thickness, weight uniformity, folding resistance, and pH. Results: The findings demonstrated that the 5% concentration transdermal patches exhibited superior anti-inflammatory effects compared to the 1% and 3% concentrations. This suggests that higher concentrations of Crinum asiaticum extracts enhance the therapeutic potential of transdermal applications. Conclusion: The study concludes that transdermal patches formulated with Crinum asiaticum leaves are effective in reducing inflammation, with 5% concentration offering the highest efficacy. Further research is recommended to explore the clinical applications of these patches in wound management.

Abstract

A drug is defined as a collection of several drugs, usually in tablet or capsule form, repackaged in plastic and claimed to cure certain diseases. A drug is readily available in the community, yet there is no guarantee of quality and safety. This community service program aims to educate people about the dangers of using a drug. This activity was conducted using lectures and education methods regarding the health risks of using a drug. The target group was the community, women's groups (PKK), and officials in Nogo Rejo Village, Galang, Deli Serdang. The instruments used included PowerPoint presentations and questionnaires. This community service program began with basic outreach about a drug, and then assessed the community's knowledge of the drug through questionnaires. Pretest and posttest results indicated an increase in knowledge after the activity. The results showed that the community's knowledge in the pretest questionnaire was categorized as poor (0-59%), with an average score of 69%, with a score of sufficient (26%), and a score of good (5%). Meanwhile, the knowledge level in the post-test questionnaire fell into the good knowledge category (75-100%), with an average score of 28%, fair 49%, and sufficient 23%. The conclusion of this community service program is that there was an increase in the knowledge level of the community, PKK cadres, and village officials after being educated about the dangers of using prescription drugs. With this outreach and education, especially in Nogo Rejo Village, the community's knowledge and understanding of using prescription drugs will improve, allowing them to be more cautious and protective when consuming them.
