Abstract

Barus District has long been known as an important trading port on the west coast of Sumatra and historically served as a gateway for the spice trade, including kapur barus (camphor). The ethnobotanical significance of kapur barus (Dryobalanops aromatica), a tree species native to Indonesia, has been recognized since ancient times by Arab and Chinese traders. However, the declining interest of younger generations in traditional plant-based knowledge threatens the preservation of this cultural heritage. Preliminary observations indicate that information regarding the ethnobotany of kapur barus in Barus District remains limited, and no specific study has been conducted in the area. This research aims to document ethnobotanical knowledge related to kapur barus among local communities in Barus District, Central Tapanuli Regency. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with field-based methods. Informants were selected purposively, consisting of eight community representatives. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews guided by a question list. The results reveal that kapur barus is utilized in various aspects of local life, including botany, ethnopharmacology, ethnoeconomics, ethnolinguistics, and ethnoecology. The species plays an important economic, medicinal, and cultural role for the people of Barus District. This study underscores the significance of preserving traditional ethnobotanical knowledge and highlights the potential for its sustainable development.

Abstract

Kawasan Mangrove Langsa, Aceh menyimpan keanekaragaman mangrove yang didominasi oleh tiga famili besar yaitu Rhizophoraceae, Avicenniaceae, dan Sonneratiaceae. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan ciri morfologi dari 5 spesies Rhizophoraceae yang mencakup dalam 3 genus Rhizophoraceae dari Kawasan Mangrove Langsa, Aceh. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode jelajah untuk mengumpulkan spesimen target dan identifikasi berdasarkan sumber literatur berupa buku dan artikel jurnal. Kelima spesies Rhizophoraceae yang di identifikasi meliputi Ceriops decandra, Bruguiera cylindrica, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Rhizophora apiculata, dan Rhizophora mucronata. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi penelitian lain untuk mengenali dan membedakan morfologi 5 jenis mangrove Rhizophoraceae khususnya yang terdapat di Kawasan Mangrove Langsa, Aceh.

Abstract

Learning is an interaction between students and educators in a learning environment. The learning process and outcomes are measured using Performance Assessment. The Performance assessment is a suitable tool in biology learning to improve critical thinking skills. this research aimed to develop a project-based learning model with an ethnoscience-based performance assessment and determine the model's practicality for increasing students' critical thinking skills, especially in ethnoscience learning. The method used was a mixed-method design (quantitative and qualitative data) with a research and development model using the 4D model approach (define, design, develop, and disseminate). The research was conducted in SMA Negeri 1 Manyak Panyed, SMA Negeri 2 Patra Nusa, SMA Negeri 1 Langsa, SMA Negeri 5 Langsa, SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya and SMA Unggul Aceh Timur. The instruments used were validation sheets by biology lecturers and teachers and students’ questionnaires. The analysis was administrated through Aiken V coefficients for the critical thinking skills test. The results showed that the project-based learning model with an ethnoscience-based performance assessment was effective as a learning tool for students and teachers. In addition, the test of practicality regarding critical thinking skills revealed an improvement in students' knowledge of ethnoscience

Abstract

The aim of the research is to develop e-books based on PjBL model instructional design integrated with scientific literacy to improve students' critical thinking skills. To find out the feasibility validation test of e-books based on the instructional design of the PjBL model integrated with scientific literacy. To find out the E-book Effectiveness test on Critical Thinking Ability. The method to be used in this research is to use the research and development (R&D) method. The research stages are determining the material, preliminary research, analysis, design creation, material creation, initial product development, valid, feasibility test, valid, practicality test. The research data is in the form of feasibility test data by validators and the effectiveness of E-books. In critical thinking skills, the research results show that the feasibility test obtained from validation by material experts and biology teachers is reviewed based on presentation, content and language components obtained an average value of due diligence of 92.50% which is in the category very feasible to use. Meanwhile, the results of the N-gain test on the level of students' thinking abilities after using this e-book obtained a score of 0.80% in the good category in improving critical thinking abilities

Abstract

Pesatnya perkembangan teknologi dalam dunia pendidikan menuntut inovasi media pembelajaran yang mampu meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterlibatan siswa. Salah satu materi yang memerlukan pendekatan visual dan interaktif adalah sistem pencernaan manusia di kelas XI SMA. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat validitas media pembelajaran berbasis flipbook, PowerPoint, dan games interaktif. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) dengan model 4-D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), yang difokuskan hingga tahap develop. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari dua validator ahli, yakni ahli materi dan ahli media. Data diperoleh melalui lembar validasi dan dianalisis menggunakan skala Likert yang dimodifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media flipbook memperoleh presentase validasi akhir sebesar 92% (materi) dan 94,6% (media), PowerPoint sebesar 90% (materi) dan 96% (media), sedangkan games memperoleh skor 88% (materi) dan 92,7% (media). Seluruh media dikategorikan sangat layak dan dapat digunakan tanpa revisi lebih lanjut. Pengembangan media flipbook, PowerPoint, dan games ini dinyatakan valid serta memiliki potensi besar dalam mendukung pembelajaran sistem pencernaan secara lebih efektif dan menyenangkan.
