Abstract

Human flourishing entails a state of complete, intrinsic self-fulfillment; however, the concept also embraces interpersonal interaction through social connection. This research aims to explore the concept and dynamics of flourishing Muslim families. The data collection involved 45 to 120 minutes of in-depth interviews with five participant families. A qualitative approach was taken, with Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) and MAXQDA 2020 techniques used to organize the data. We utilized the Ephocé and member-checking and adopted workflow protocol management tools (i.e., MAXQDA 2020) to ensure data credibility. Four superordinate themes emerged, namely compassionate love in collaboration; the adaptation process; relatedness to the larger circle beyond nuclear family members; and the role of religious and local wisdom teachings. All the themes were related to establishing the nature of a flourishing family. It is concluded that the meaning of “flourishing family” for the Indonesian Muslim Families participants emphasized shared relational well-being, which is more complex than the simple “human flourishing” concept. The findings contribute to developing the concept of a flourishing family through evidence based on empirical data regarding efforts to maintain positive potential in the family.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the resilience experiences of husbands who take on the role of spousal caregivers for wives diagnosed with schizophrenia. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed to capture a rich, straightforward, and low-inference account of participants’ caregiving experiences without imposing predetermined theoretical interpretations. A four-phase thematic analysis was conducted to analyze the data. Five male participants, aged 30–60 years, were included in the study. Each had been a spousal caregiver for more than five years. The findings revealed seven themes: onset transition, adaptation to caregiving tasks, maintaining the marriage, spiritual discipline, active participation in community and society, challenges from family and the wider community, and contribution to society. In addition, the study found that cultural factors significantly influence the dynamics of resilience, particularly in decision-making processes. This research can support health professionals and academics in understanding the lived experiences of male spousal caregivers. Nonetheless, the study is limited by its small, homogeneous sample of Javanese Muslim caregivers from a local community in Yogyakarta, which may limit the generalizability of the findings. Future research should consider more diverse samples and use mixed-method approaches to broaden insights into resilience across different caregiving contexts, including those involving child-rearing and other vulnerable family settings.

Abstract

The quality of memory can be developed through improvement of information quality and learning modality. The more and frequent human sense organs are stimulated, the higher the quality of the memory would be. The experiential memory model allows the human sense organs to experience more and frequent stimulations. The main principle in experiential learning is learning by doing, because learning is a transformation process from experience into knowledge. Through experiential learning, information stimulates the sense organs several times, affecting the neurons to expand their network, hence facilitating memory retrieval or in other words reflecting better memory quality.

Abstract

The increasing use of technology, especially gadgets and the internet, among elementary students brings both benefits and risks, highlighting the importance of wise and safe usage. The psychoeducation program “Cerdas Menggunakan Gadget dan Internet untuk Anak” (Smart Use of Gadgets and the Internet for Children) explored students’ understanding before and after participation. This qualitative study used open-ended questions and thematic content analysis. Participants were 83 students aged 10–11 years from an elementary school in Yogyakarta. Before the program, students’ knowledge was limited, shown by vague responses. Afterward, their answers were more detailed and specific, including examples of proper gadget and internet use. However, most still viewed technology mainly as a source of entertainment and games. These findings highlight the need for continued psychoeducation to strengthen children’s digital literacy and safety. A key limitation is the small sample size and the focus on cognitive understanding without assessing behavioral outcomes.
