Abstract

This study examines the impact of maternal education and knowledge on early complementary feeding (MP-ASI) in children aged 6-12 months at the Cot Seumeureng Health Center, Samatiga District, West Aceh Regency. Early complementary feeding, initiated before six months, can hinder optimal exclusive breastfeeding practices. This cross-sectional study involved 94 mothers of infants aged six to twelve months, with data collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi Square test. Results indicate a statistically significant relationship between maternal education and early complementary feeding (p=0.001, PR=2.1), as well as between maternal knowledge and early complementary feeding (p=0.002, PR=1.8). These findings underscore the role of maternal education and knowledge in shaping early feeding practices, highlighting the importance of tailored health education programs to promote exclusive breastfeeding. The study concludes that enhanced maternal knowledge through education is crucial for improving infant feeding practices.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between mothers' nutritional knowledge, dietary intake of children, and under-five nutritional status in Ranto Panyang, Meureubo Sub-district, West Aceh. Despite varied economic conditions, malnutrition persists, highlighting the critical role of maternal knowledge in determining children's nutrition outcomes. Employing a cross-sectional quantitative design, this study surveyed mothers in 2023 to assess their understanding of nutrition and its effects on child health. Findings reveal that 52.4% of mothers possess adequate nutritional knowledge, while 47.6% demonstrate limited awareness. A statistically significant association (p<0.05) was identified between maternal knowledge and the nutritional status of under-fives, suggesting that improved maternal education could positively impact child nutrition. These results underscore the necessity of targeted educational initiatives, particularly in regions with high malnutrition rates, to empower mothers with essential nutrition knowledge and foster healthier communities.

Abstract

Toddler nutrition is critical for children aged 1-5 years to support optimal growth and development, requiring a balanced diet rich in protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. This study aims to evaluate the influence of nutrition education delivered through leaflets on enhancing parental knowledge about proper nutrition for toddlers. Conducted in Rantoe Panyang Village, this research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group. The population consisted of 62 mothers with toddlers, selected using total sampling to include the entire population. The findings revealed a significant relationship between nutrition education using leaflets and improved parental knowledge. The study concludes that nutrition education facilitated through leaflet media positively impacts parental understanding of toddler nutrition. These results underscore the importance of targeted educational interventions in improving knowledge and dietary practices among parents, ultimately contributing to better nutritional outcomes for children.

Abstract

This study investigates the correlation between menstrual cycle patterns, breakfast habits, physical activity, and nutritional status among adolescents at SMP 2 Meureubo. The research aims to identify key factors influencing menstrual cycle regularity. A total of 53 students were selected using a random sampling method for this cross-sectional quantitative study. Data were gathered through a structured questionnaire assessing breakfast habits, levels of physical activity, and nutritional status determined by Body Mass Index (BMI). Chi-square analysis revealed statistically significant associations, with breakfast habits (p<0.05) and physical activity (p<0.05) playing critical roles in maintaining menstrual regularity. Adolescents with consistent breakfast routines demonstrated a 77% improvement in cycle regularity, while adequate physical activity contributed to a 73% enhancement in consistency. The findings underscore the importance of balanced nutrition and physical activity in promoting healthy menstrual patterns. The study recommends targeted health education programs focusing on balanced meals, regular exercise, and consistent monitoring of nutritional health to improve adolescent menstrual health outcomes.
