Abstract

Bali memiliki sebuah warisan budaya yang mencakup pengobatan tradisional Bali yang dikenal dengan nama usada. Usada merupakan jenis pengobatan tradisional Bali dimana salah satunya menggunakan tumbuhan sebagai bahan obat. Tumbuhan obat tersebut diracik dan diramu sedemikian rupa sehingga menjadi minuman tradisional yang di Bali disebut dengan loloh. Masyarakat Bali sudah sejak turun menurun mengkonsumsi lolohuntuk menjaga kesehatan. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah budaya minum loloh masih dilakukan sampai saat ini oleh masyarakat dan jenis loloh yang diminum terutama disaat pandemic covid 19 seperti sekarang ini. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode purpose sampling dan menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi kesehatan melalui teknik wawancara mendalam dan kuisioner terhadap masyarakat yang masih minum loloh. Teori dalam penelitian menggunakan fenomenologi sebagai akibat dari prilaku, keyakinan dan persepsi masyarakat terhadap budaya minum loloh. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa budaya minum loloh masih dilakukan sampai sekarang ini oleh masyarakat Bali disebabkan karena adanya informasi dari media cetak maupun media elektronik, adanya kepercayaan masyarakat terhadap minuman tradisional dan minimnya efek samping. jenis loloh yang dikonsumsi yaitu loloh kunyit asem, loloh don base, loloh jahe merah, loloh cemcem, loloh mengkudu (tibah), loloh sembung, loloh pegagan, loloh daun waru, loloh daun katuk dan loloh temulawak.

Abstract

Antimicrobial resistance represents a critical global health challenge, necessitating the exploration of alternative therapeutic agents. This study investigated the antimicrobial potential of amla fruit tea (Phyllanthus emblica L.) through comprehensive phytochemical characterization, antibacterial assessment, and computational modeling to identify potential mechanisms of action. LC-HRMS analysis was employed for phytochemical profiling, antibacterial activity was evaluated via disk diffusion method against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and molecular docking studies were conducted against tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase and FimH adhesin proteins. Analysis identified 89 bioactive compounds, with oxidized hydroxytetrahydrofuranyl acetate, L-α-palmitin, and ellagic acid predominating. Antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. coli was evaluated via the disk diffusion method, revealing that moderate inhibition increased at higher concentrations (25%) and with extended exposure, with E. coli exhibiting greater susceptibility than S. aureus. Molecular docking studies against tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase (S. aureus) and FimH adhesin protein (E. coli) identified the W-18 benzenesulfonamide derivative as the most promising compound, which demonstrated strong binding affinities of -11.01 and -7.48 kcal/mol, respectively. While all five principal compounds met Lipinski's drug-likeness criteria, toxicological assessment revealed varying safety profiles, with two compounds classified as "possibly hazardous" and two as "toxic when swallowed." These findings suggest that amla fruit tea has antibacterial properties through two mechanisms: disruption of protein synthesis and bacterial adhesion. However, its efficacy remains considerably lower than that of conventional antibiotics, suggesting potential applications as complementary therapy rather than antibiotic replacement.

Abstract

Manajemen pemeliharaan induk udang vaname (Litopenaeus vannamei) yang efektifmenjadi faktor kunci dalam menunjang keberhasilan program pembenihan dan budidayaudang di Balai Produksi Induk Udang Unggul dan Kekerangan (BPIU2K) Karangasem,Bali. Kualitas dan kesehatan induk sangat menentukan mutu benih yang dihasilkan,terutama dalam hal ketahanan terhadap penyakit dan kecepatan pertumbuhan.Keberhasilan proses pembenihan ini sangat ditentukan oleh penerapan manajemen yangtepat meliputi pengendalian kualitas air, pemberian pakan yang sesuai, sanitasilingkungan, seleksi induk serta pemantauan kesehatan induk secara rutin. Tujuandilaksanakannya observasi di BPIU2K adalah untuk mempelajari manajemenpemeliharaan induk udang vaname secara langsung, baik dari aspek biologis maupunteknis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif melalui observasilangsung, wawancara dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil observasi menunjukan bahwamanajemen pemeliharaan induk udang vaname di BPIU2K Karangasem dilaksanakansecara terstandar mencakup pengelolaan kualitas air, pemberian pakan bernutrisi, sanitasirutin, seleksi induk berkualitas berdasarkan performa reproduksi dan kondisi fisiologis,serta pemantauan kesehatan berkala untuk mencegah terjadinya penyakit dan memastikankelayakan induk sebelum proses pemijahan. Manajemen ini mendukung keberhasilanreproduksi dan menghasilkan benih unggul secara konsisten.

Abstract

Tujuan: Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengobatan tradisional Bali, dengan mengambil fokus kajian pada pengobatan yang tertuang dalam lontar Usadha Tiwang. Metode penelitian: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kepustakaan (Library Research). Unit analisis berupa naskah lontar Usadha Tiwang, yang telah ditransliterasi dari aksara Bali ke aksara Latin. Temuan: Hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa tiwang adalah penyakit yang mempunyai gejala badan terasa meluang, sakit dan ngilu, gelisah, mata mendelik, otot kaku bahkan sampai pingsan. Jenis tiwang dicirikan berdasarkan gejala yang muncul. Pengobatan dilaksanakan secara holistik oleh pengusada sesuai tatalaksana pengusada, dengan menggunakan ramuan obat-obatan yang terbuat dari campuran berbagai jenis tumbuh-tumbuhan atau bahan lainnya seperti arak, lengis tanusan, garam, gula, kapur, maupun santen, bahkan tain seksek serta iduh bang. Penggunaannya dengan cara dimakan, diminum, ditutuhkan, disemburkan, diuapkan atau dilulurkan, maupun ditempelkan. Takaran, cara pengolahan, serta cara pemakaian masih belum jelas. Implikasi: Masyarakat Bali tetap percaya terhadap sistim pengobatan tradisional Bali. Namun demikian, masyarakat Bali yang berobat ke tempat praktik pengobatan tradisional sangat sedikit. Simpulannya adalah pengobatan tradisional Bali dilakukan secara holistik untuk mencapai keseimbangan antara shtula sarira-suksma sarira-antahkarana sarira.

Abstract

Increased histamine levels in tuna (Euthynnus affinis) during storage may pose health risks to consumers. However, the effects of storage duration on histamine levels are not yet fully understood. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the increase in histamine levels in mackerel based on its duration of storage at 4°C and its implications for public health. Methods: The experimental research had a completely randomized design. This study consisted of 7 treatment groups: negative control, positive control, and storage days 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. Tuna were collected from the Kedonganan Fish Market and were randomly selected for inclusion in each group. Histamine levels were measured using a spectrophotometric method at a wavelength of 496 nm and analyzed using SPSS (USA, Chicago, IL) version 25.0 at a 95% confidence level (P <0.05). Results: There was a correlation between the length of storage and the increase in histamine levels in tuna (p = 0.001). The histamine levels in tuna on the second day of storage were 46.19 mg/kg, those on the fourth day were 46.57 mg/kg, those on the sixth day were 50.97 mg/kg, those on the eighth day were 54.76 mg/kg, and those on the tenth day were 58.52 mg/kg. The longer the tuna is stored, the higher the histamine levels are. The most striking increase occurred after the sixth day of storage. However, the histamine levels remained within the standard limits set by the government until the 10th day of storage. Conclusion: Storage for 4°C significantly increased histamine levels in tuna. The implications of this study include the need for fish storage management as well as the need for a consumer understanding of health risks due to prolonged fish storage and good fish selection.

Abstract

The increasing emergence of zoonotic diseases originating from vectors, rodents, mammals, and others has increased the potential for outbreaks of pandemics in the Indonesian territory. Although control and prevention have been implemented, these efforts have not yet revealed a bright spot; therefore, elaboration with advanced CRISPR-Cas9 technology is a way to accelerate efforts to control zoonotic diseases in Indonesia. However, there is limited literature on this topic. This review aims to comprehensively describe, identify, and summarize the application of CRISPR-Cas9 genome-editing technology in zoonotic disease control in Indonesia. Our findings show that CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing technology offers an innovative approach for zoonotic disease control by targeting disease vectors, modifying animal reservoirs, improving disease surveillance, enhancing vaccine development, and exploring traditional medicine candidates and immunotherapy. The high level of precision, efficiency, and versatility in targeting genomes capable of disrupting, damaging, and disrupting the disease transmission cycle in pathogens makes CRISPR-Cas9 highly effective. However, challenges such as off-target impacts, regulatory complexity, and ethical considerations must be overcome with inter- and multidisciplinary collaboration to promote transparency, equity, and public engagement throughout the process of implementing this technology in the field, especially in Indonesia.

Abstract

Averrhoa bilimbi L. fruit has been used in Bali traditional medicine to treat typhoid fever. The fruit contains flavonoids and triterpenoids which are considered to have antibacterial activity. This study aimed to investigate antibacterial activity of ethanolic extract of A. bilimbi L. fruit. The ethanolic extract was prepared by maceration and antibacterial activity was determined by the disc diffusion method against Salmonella typhi cultured on Mueller hinton agar (MHA). Ciprofloxacin was used as positive control and sterile distilled water as negative control. The results showed that the ethanolic extract of A. bilimbi L. fruit at various concentrations of 25; 50; 75 and 100% have an inhibition zone diameter of 0 ± 0; 13.000 ± 1.414; 18.750 ± 1.500 and 20.250 ± 1.707 mm, respectively. In addition, ciprofloxacin at concentration of 1 mg/L has an inhibition zone diameter of 34.250 ± 1.892 mm. In conclusion, the ethanolic extract of A. bilimbi L. fruit has strong antibacterial activity against S. typhi.
