Abstract

Peserta pengabmas sebesar 12 orang.

Abstract

Stunting remains a persistent nutritional challenge in Indonesia, posing a substantial threat to child growth and survival, typically manifesting in the second year of life. Its primary antecedent is inadequate prenatal protein intake, resulting in shortened birth length and increased susceptibility to stunting. This study aimed to elucidate the relationship between birth length and stunting among toddlers within Tasikmadu Village, employing a retrospective cohort design with a total sample size of 128 individuals selected through Total Sampling. The analysis of the collected data yielded a noteworthy result, with a calculated p-value exceeding 0.570. This outcome signifies the absence of a statistically significant correlation between birth length and the incidence of stunting among the study participants in Tasikmadu Village. Instead, the investigation highlights the prominence of postnatal factors as significant determinants of stunting prevalence. These factors include the untimely introduction of complementary foods alongside breastfeeding (MP-ASI), irregular MP-ASI feeding schedules, a predominantly carbohydrate-based MP-ASI menu, erratic breastfeeding timings, and premature discontinuation of exclusive breastfeeding. In summary, this study discerns a conspicuous dissociation between birth length and stunting occurrence in Tasikmadu Village. The implication is that the roots of stunting lie predominantly in postnatal practices, emphasizing the critical role of addressing issues such as inappropriate MP-ASI practices and breastfeeding patterns to effectively combat the prevalence of stunting among toddlers. These findings contribute to a more nuanced understanding of the multifaceted nature of stunting in this context, guiding future interventions and public health initiatives aimed at its mitigation.

Abstract: CERDIK behavior is a preventive measure so that the elderly remain healthy, fit and free from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and infectious diseases. The aim of the service is to increase CERDIK knowledge and behavior, prevent and avoid the occurrence of NCDs and infectious diseases in the elderly. The activity method is in the form of counseling and health checks taking place in Sumberporong Village for 3 months (June-August 2022), involving 35 elderly people. Activity results; there was an increase in knowledge and behavior in carrying out CERDIK behavior among participants. Participants' knowledge during the pre-test was 60% good and post-test was 85% good. During the health examination, there was a decrease in the average blood pressure from (148.05/90.34 mmHg) to (138.35/82.94 mmHg), the average blood sugar level from (164.8mg/dL) to (152.74mg/dL), and the average total cholesterol level from (195.34 mg/dL) to (180.32 mg/dL). Conclusion: The community service activities of the CERDIK Behavior Movement succeeded in increasing knowledge and healthy living behavior, as evidenced by a decrease in the average blood pressure and blood glucose levels in activity participants. It is hoped that the elderly will continue to carry out CERDIK behavior as a preventive measure against NCDs and infectious diseases.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that can lead to complications such as peripheral neuropathy, characterized by decreased sensory sensitivity in the feet. One recommended non-pharmacological intervention is diabetic foot exercise using a ball as a medium. This study aims to describe changes in foot sensory sensitivity in patients with type 2 diabetes following diabetic foot exercise therapy using a ball. A descriptive case study approach was employed involving two two elderly participants with diabetic neuropathy. The intervention consisted of six sessions over two weeks, with each session lasting 15–20 minutes. Evaluation was conducted using the 10g monofilament test and in-depth interviews. The results indicated an increase in the number of sensation points detected after the intervention. Subjectively, both patients reported reduced tingling and lighter discomfort in the feet. These findings suggest that diabetic foot exercise using a ball can stimulate peripheral nerves and improve blood circulation. This foot exercise can be performed regularly by individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus to maintain good sensory sensitivity in the feet and ensure optimal nerve function.
