Abstract

The increase in illegal Indonesian workers (TKI) every year is a polemic in itself; the opportunity to become an illegal TKI can be detrimental to the state and individual TKI because they will not get their rights and are vulnerable to problems with inappropriate labor administration. The Indonesian government must immediately resolve this problem to ensure that there are no more illegal Indonesian migrant workers coming to Malaysia. This research uses a qualitative method by collecting data through interviews, observation, and documentation from three sources on the survival of illegal migrant workers working in Malaysia. The analysis uses spatial and narrative analysis. This is a novelty in this research and direct observations in the field by the author. The research results show that the main factors for illegal migrant workers going to Malaysia are the availability of jobs, high wages, and the lure of families working there. The workers chose to be illegal because they did not have a valid visa, did not want to renew their advanced visa or a tourist visa, and switched to becoming workers in Malaysia. As for surviving as an illegal worker, the survival strategy for surviving as an illegal worker is to carry out economic, social, legal, and political survival strategies. This research is important to follow up on because many Indonesian citizens are still interested in working abroad illegally and not complying with established regulations, which can harm various parties.

Abstract

Karangpandan District is one of the districts in Karanganyar Regency that experiences a high incidence of landslides, this is influenced by its location in the transition zone between the lowlands and the foothills of Mount Lawu, causing Karangpandan District to have a varied topography. This study aims to analyze the level of exposure of residents in Karangpandan District to landslide hazard zones according to Karanganyar Regent Regulation Number 83 of 2022 and determine landslide disaster evacuation routes in Karangpandan District as part of disaster mitigation. This study was conducted using a spatial approach, using scoring analysis for the level of population exposure and network analysis to determine evacuation routes with starting points from locations with a history of landslides to evacuation sites. Determination of evacuation sites is based on capacity, accessibility, level of population exposure, availability of toilets, and open spaces. The results show that the level of population exposure in Karangpandan District is dominated by the high class, with 16 evacuation routes with a travel time of <10 minutes. Therefore, routes that pass through areas with high levels of population exposure and have shorter travel times can be prioritized as the main evacuation route.

Abstract

As a small town with the nickname Little Chinese or “Petit Chinois” in Java Island of Indonesia, Lasem has undergone a transformation due to political transitions, changes in economic patterns, and modernization which have changed its identity in general. Chinese settlements that have existed since the 14-15th centuries have become historical evidence of the existence of Chinese communities who migrated to Southeast Asia, which initiated the birth of the “Peranakan” culture. In 2021, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing of the Republic of Indonesia revitalized the Lasem cultural heritage site with the aim of protecting historical values and infrastructure both related to Chinese culture and Islamic culture in Lasem. This paper reviews the cultural elements of Chinese culture that were lost in Lasem, and which are still intact, as well as reviews the positive and negative sides of the government's revitalization project implemented in the Little Chinese of Karangturi block and Islamic cultural heritage in the city square area. The result was that several physical cultural heritages had lost their authenticity due to revitalization that was not in accordance with the 2021 detailed engineering design (DED). However, marketing through social media has increased tourism activities through branding Little Tiongkok heritage and several festival celebrations in Lasem have attracted thousands of visitors.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the distribution patterns, density levels, and coverage of educational facilities at the senior high school, vocational high school, and Islamic high school levels in Pacitan Regency in 2024. This study is motivated by the existing disparities in access to education and the phenomenon of several subdistricts in Pacitan being incorporated into the school zoning of Wonogiri Regency. This study employs a quantitative descriptive method utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Spatial analysis was conducted using the Average Nearest Neighbor (ANN) method to identify distribution patterns, Kernel Density for density analysis (hotspots), and the Buffer method with a radius of 3,000 meters in accordance with SNI 13-1733-2004 to measure service coverage. The ANN analysis results showed a nearest neighbor ratio of 0.773 with a z-score of -3.60, indicating that the distribution pattern of educational facilities tends to be clustered. The Kernel Density analysis revealed the highest concentration of schools in the districts of Pacitan, Tulakan, and Tegalombo, while outlying areas such as Donorojo have low density. Buffer analysis indicates that the coverage of public high schools (SMA, SMK, MA) currently covers only 44% of residential areas; however, when combined with private schools, coverage increases to 68%. There is an imbalance in the distribution of secondary education facilities in Pacitan Regency, which are concentrated in the central and southern areas. Although private schools greatly help expand access, the local government still needs to improve the equitable distribution of educational services in remote and border areas.

Abstract

Health services are an important factor for a region because good health services indicate a better quality of life for the community. The coverage and availability of health services are also important factors in supporting optimal health facilities. However, the distribution and service coverage of health facilities are still uneven, resulting in several areas being inadequately served, especially in peripheral and highland areas. This study uses a Geographic Information System (GIS) approach to analyze the distribution patterns and service coverage of health facilities in Boyolali Regency in 2025. The methods used in this study include buffer analysis and Average Nearest Neighbor (ANN) analysis. ANN analysis was used to identify distribution patterns, while buffer analysis was used to measure the service coverage of health facilities in residential areas. The data used were obtained from the locations of health facilities in Boyolali Regency, including hospitals, community health centers, and clinics. The results showed that the distribution pattern of health facilities in Boyolali Regency in 2025 tended to be concentrated in the central area of the regency, especially in Boyolali, Teras, and Mojosongo Districts, which have better accessibility and higher population density. The results of the Average Nearest Neighbor analysis showed that the distribution pattern of health facilities was clustered and statistically significant, with a ratio value of 0.620092, a z-score of -6.541112, and a p-value of 0.000000. The results of the service coverage analysis using a 3000-meter buffer radius showed that there were still areas that had not been optimally covered by health facilities, especially in peripheral and highland districts. These conditions were influenced by topography, accessibility, road networks, and population concentration. Overall, this study indicates that there are inequalities in the distribution and service coverage of health facilities in Boyolali Regency in 2025. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the equitable distribution of health facilities and accessibility through road infrastructure development to support transportation in peripheral and highland areas that are still inadequately served so that health services can operate optimally.
