Abstract

ABSTRACTLabuhanhaji Fish Landing Base (PPI) is a type D fishing port, which is planned to become the Nusantara Fisheries Port (PPN) by the South Aceh regional government. This study aims to analyze the actual / up-to-date conditions of the technical operations of Labuhanhaji PPI. The method used is the method of survey, interview, and literature study. Data collection techniques used are, purposive sampling. The analysis carried out was descriptive analysis by analyzing the operational level of technical PPI Labuhanhaji. The results showed that technical operational activities had not gone well, including the number of fishing fleets whose growth rates were still slow in the last 5 years from 2013-2017 totaling 219 vessels of various sizes 5 to 30 Gross Tonage (GT) with the largest ships 5 GT, size 30 GT only 7 ships. The average growth rate of Labuhanhaji PPI fishing vessels for the past 5 years is 12.53%. The amount of fish production in the period 2013-2017 was quite volatile with an average growth of 33.8% with the highest number of production in 2017 amounting to 419.81 tons (21.3%). Fish processing products in Labuhanhaji PPI are salted fish, anchovies, octopus, and fillets. Fish marketing includes the Meulaboh, Banda Aceh, Subulussalam, Medan and other North Sumatra regions. The auction system is still not in accordance with the procedure, not yet controlled and directed, and the place for fish auctions that are not used properly, then the provision of sea supplies such as ice and fuel for ships 30 GT is still having problems because the ice plant at PPI Labuhanhaji is only 1 unit and the production capacity of 150 to 200 sticks per day, while the need for ice is high enough for 1 ship 30 requires ice between 150 to 300 sticks per sail, then fuel often has limited supply constraints so fishermen have to wait and increase the time to moor until fuel sufficient to go to sea.Keyword: Labuhanhaji Port Fisheries, operational technical, port facilitie ABSTRAKPangkalan Pendaratan Ikan (PPI) Labuhanhaji adalah pelabuhan perikanan tipe D, yang direncanakan akan menjadi Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara (PPN) oleh pemerintah daerah Aceh Selatan.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess shark catches at PPI Ujung Serangga, Southwest Aceh, focusing on species composition, size and conservation status. Data were collected through field surveys and direct measurements of sharks landed by fishers. Results showed that bottom longlines were the most widely used fishing gear and produced the highest shark catches. A total of 643 individual sharks from 16 species were identified, with the family Carcharhinidae dominating the catch. Most of the sharks caught were below gonad length (Lm), indicating the potential for juvenile shark fishing. The conservation status of sharks evaluated based on IUCN showed that most species were categorized as Near Threatened (NT) and Vulnerable (VU), with some species categorized as Critically Endangered (CR) and Endangered (EN). Almost all identified shark species are listed in CITES Appendix II. This research highlights the importance of sustainable shark fisheries management to maintain populations and biodiversity in the Southwest Aceh region. Keywords:SharkConservation StatusCITESSouthwest Aceh

Abstract

Pidie Jaya Regency is one of the districts that contributes to capture fisheries production in Aceh Province. Pidie Jaya Harbor is the Fish Landing Base (PPI) in Meureudu. As capture fisheries activities developed at PPI Meureudu, the local government began to pay attention to building several port facilities such as basic facilities, functional facilities and supporting facilities. Supporting facilities or supporting facilities are facilities that support fishing activities at the port, one of these facilities is an ice factory. The ice factory at PPI Meureudu belongs to the Aceh marine and fisheries service which was built in 2012. The Aceh Development Fund (ADF) built an ice factory with a production capacity of up to 30 tons/day at the Meureudu Fish Landing Base (PPI), through an environmentally friendly technology program for industry fishing process. Under normal conditions, the PPI Meureudu ice factory is currently producing ice cubes in excess of fishermen's needs, so ice cubes are sold by fishermen operating in the Peulimbang and Peudada areas, Bireuen Regency. Sometimes, when the fish catch is abundant, ice is not enough to meet the ice needs for ships at PPI Meureudu and must be supplied from Sigli, Pidie Regency. This study aims to determine the need for ice in fishing and handling operations to the feasibility of the ice factory business at PPI Meureudu. This research was carried out for one month, namely in November 2022 at the Meureudu Fish Landing Base (PPI), Meureudu City, Kec. Meureudu, Pidie Jaya Regency. The data used in this study are primary data secondary data. using business feasibility analysis. The results showed that the need for ice blocks at PPI Meureudu for fishing operations within one month was 221.80 tons, and the need for ice for fish handling activities at PPI Meureudu within one month required the amount of ice to be 2,879 blocks of ice or 144,864 tons which is the result of the analysis financial value obtained from the NPV Rp. 95,761,105 can be said to be feasible because the value is greater than 0. At an IRR value of 5% it can be said to be feasible because the results of the IRR calculation are greater than the discount factor, and a Net B/C value of 1 is said to be a breakeven project because = 1. These three values have been carried out in the Meureudu PPI block ice factory business that business it is worth continuing. Keywords:Business FeasibilityIce Block FacilityPidie Jaya

Abstract

Laut Tawar Lake is located in Takengon City, Central Aceh Regency. Currently, the lake is utilized by the surrounding community as a lobster fishing area. The fishing gear used by the fishermen includes bubu wau traps and other fishing tools. The main catch from the bubu wau traps used by the fishermen in One-One Village is freshwater lobster, a species found in Laut Tawar Lake. The freshwater lobsters caught in One-One Village have a high market value, which is why most fishermen in the area use bubu wau traps. These traps allow better control over the size of the lobsters caught, depending on the trap’s mesh size. The shift from catching depik fish to freshwater lobsters has increased interest in the use of bubu wau traps. One of the current research focuses is freshwater lobster fishing using bubu wau traps; thus, we believe this study is necessary. Based on the findings during the study, the species caught was Cherax quadricarinatus, with the most frequently caught size being those with a carapace length of 4.4–4.9 cm, and the least frequently caught size being 8.6–9.1 cm.
