Abstract

This study explores the impact of montage activities on the development of fine motor skills and creativity in early childhood education, as implemented in a community service project at TK Dharma Bhakti Surabaya. The project aimed to train PAUD teachers to integrate montage as a pedagogical tool, fostering both physical and creative growth in children aged 4 to 6. The training provided teachers with hands-on experience in conducting montage activities and assessing student outcomes in these developmental areas. Data were collected through pre- and post-training assessments of both teachers and students. The results showed a significant improvement in teachers’ confidence and competence in using montage for educational purposes. Additionally, students exhibited substantial gains in fine motor skills, with an average improvement of 20% in tasks involving cutting, pasting, and object manipulation. Creativity scores also improved, with 75% of students demonstrating enhanced creative expression through the use of diverse materials and techniques. The findings support the use of montage as an effective strategy for addressing the dual goals of motor skill development and creative thinking in early childhood education. Furthermore, the project highlights the importance of providing teachers with professional development opportunities that focus on creative pedagogies. While challenges such as resource availability and balancing academic content with creative activities were noted, the study offers valuable insights into the practical implementation of art-based learning in resource-constrained settings.

Abstract

ABSTRAKOrangtua memiliki peran penting untuk membimbing, mendidik, merawat anak sejak dini. Peran orangtua sangat diperlukan agar mampu memahami kondisi anak serta dapat mengembangkan minat yang dimiliki anak dalam proses tumbuh kembang. Proses belajar pada anak usia dini di dapatkan pada lingkungan keluarga yang pertama. Selebihnya proses belajar anak didapatkan dilingkungan sekolah. Proses belajar dalam mengenalkan literasi pada anak dapat diberikan sejak dini. Literasi yang diajarkan kepada anak dapat meliputi membaca, menulis, mendengarkan serta berbicara. Literasi yang dikenalkan pada anak sejak dini perlu adanya pembiasaan yang diterapkan oleh orangtua dengan aktifitas yang menunjang salah satunya waktu yang efektif dalam mendampingi anak mengenalkan buku cerita bergambar. Buku cerita bergambar dapat menarik anak untuk mengetahui isi buku cerita bergambar yang di dalamnya terdapat tokoh cerita, warna yang menarik, huruf dalam kalimat cerita. Membiasakan mengenalkan literasi anak sejak dini dapat mengoptimalkan mengembangkan aspek bahasa pada anak. Abstract. Parents play a crucial role in guiding, educating, and nurturing their children from an early age. Their involvement is essential for understanding the child's conditions and developing the child's interests during the growth process. Early learning occurs primarily within the family environment, followed by the school environment. The process of introducing literacy to children can begin at an early age. Literacy education for children encompasses reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Introducing literacy to children requires consistent practices implemented by parents, including effective time spent accompanying children in exploring picture storybooks. Picture storybooks can engage children by introducing them to the characters, appealing colors, and the text within the stories. Familiarizing children with literacy from an early age can optimize the development of their language skills.

Abstract

This community engagement program was designed to enhance the pedagogical skills of early childhood educators by introducing montage-based learning as an innovative method to support children's fine motor and language development. The program was implemented at a rural early childhood education center in Pasuruan, Indonesia, where a significant number of children exhibited limited motor and verbal abilities, and teachers had not previously applied montage as a structured learning and evaluation tool. The program involved a series of activities, including needs assessment, training workshops, guided classroom implementation, and evaluation using a custom-designed assessment rubric. The results showed significant improvements in both teacher competence and student engagement. Teachers demonstrated increased confidence and creativity in planning and conducting montage activities, while children displayed better coordination and expressive language skills during and after the intervention. The developed rubric was found to be effective in capturing children's developmental progress in a structured manner. Overall, the program successfully empowered educators to integrate art-based methods into their teaching strategies, resulting in a more engaging and developmentally supportive learning environment. This approach holds promise for broader application in other early childhood education contexts to address similar pedagogical challenges.

Abstract

Tujuan dari Pengabdian Masyarakat adalah merupakan kewajiban sebagai seorang dosen selain Penelitian dan Pendidikan. Pelaksanaan pembelajaran di Lembaga PAUD sangat diperlukan melalui permainan dan media yang menyenangkan dan yang sesuai dengan usia anak. Oleh sebab itu peraga sangat diperlukan dalam pembelajaran Anak Usia Dini. Media sangat diperlukan agar dapat menarik minat Anak Usia Dini. Pengadaan alat peraga sangat dibutukan, tidak harus beli dalam membuat permainan yang menyenangkan untuk Anak Usia Dini, bahkan bisa memakai dari bahan daur ulang atau bahan bekas yang masih bisa terpakai. Berdasarkan keadaan di lapangan seperti di atas maka kami mengadakan kegiatan berupa pengabdian masyarakat. Pengabdian Masyarakat yang akan dilakukan adalah pendampingan kepada orang tua untuk menumbuhkan karakter Anak Usia Dini melalui kegiatan permainan yang menyenangkan dengan menggunakan media bahan daur ulang atau bahan bekas yang masih bisa terpakai dan yang dikenal oleh anak. Pelaksanaan akan dilakukan di TK Kreatif Cendekia Surabaya dengan alasan FKIP UNUSA pada tahun-tahun sebelumnya telah menjalin kerjasama (MoU) dengan lembaga tersebut melalui Tri Dharma. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan tujuan meningkatkan kreativitas orang tua dan menambah semangat dan antuasias anak usia dini selam SFH (School From Home).Abstact: The objective of Community Service is to fulfill an obligation as a faculty member, in addition to Research and Education. The implementation of learning in Early Childhood Education Institutions is essential through enjoyable games and media that are age-appropriate for the children. Therefore, instructional aids are crucial in the learning process of Early Childhood. Media is necessary to attract the interest of Early Childhood. The provision of teaching aids is imperative, and it is not necessary to purchase new items for creating enjoyable games for Early Childhood. Instead, recycled materials or reusable waste materials can be used. Based on the field conditions as described, we have organized community service activities. The Community Service to be undertaken involves assisting parents in nurturing the character of Early Childhood through enjoyable gaming activities using recycled materials or reusable waste materials familiar to the children. The implementation will take place at TK Kreatif Cendekia Surabaya, chosen because FKIP UNUSA had previously established a partnership (MoU) with this institution through Tri Dharma. This activity aims to enhance the creativity of parents and boost the enthusiasm and eagerness of early childhood children during SFH (School from Home).

Abstract

Education is one of the pillars of the progress of a nation. Education is still a serious concern in each region in order to increase. The quality of education at the Integrated Early Childhood Post (PPT) Kuncup Melati Surabaya is quite good but still needs to be improved. One of them is in technology-based English learning. Learning English at PPT Kuncup Melati Surabaya will be much more interesting if it is packaged with a blend of technology and presented to Early Childhood Education students in the form of visual learning. In addition, online learning is currently being promoted again along with the increasing number of Covid-19 victims during this pandemic. Mastery of technology-based English learning at PPT Kuncup Melati Surabaya is still minimal. This is evident from the learning that is still carried out face-to-face, even though it is carried out in alternating schedules. Even though there are clear rules from the government that suggest that learning is done online. As a solution, assistance is needed in technology-based online English learning with a variety of methods and is carried out in a sustainable manner so that learning can be done online but still interesting. By applying the flipbook application in learning English, it is hoped that it will stimulate Early Childhood Education students in learning technology-based English. Flipbook is a powerful software application designed to convert PDF files to page-turning digital publications. With the flipbook application, a digital bookshelf can be created from several E-Modules that have been produced so that teachers and students can choose which E-Module to read by simply pressing the click button to select it. This Community Service (PKM) activity plan is focused on implementing an interactive English E-Module with a flipbook application for Early Childhood Education students at PPT Kuncup Melati Surabaya. The target of this PKM activity is the students in the school. The expected output is to apply a flipbook application to students at the school and to create a digital literacy corner and e-learning regeneration which is expected to be able to increase the knowledge, skills, interests and motivation of Early Childhood Education students in learning English. With the digital literacy corner, it is hoped that it can increase student interest in literacy.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini fokus pada peningkatan keterampilan motorik halus anak usia dini (AUD) di TK Kreatif Cendekia, Surabaya, melalui pelatihan metode pemberian tugas bagi tujuh guru PAUD. Pelatihan ini dirancang untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru dalam mengembangkan kegiatan pembelajaran yang mendukung perkembangan motorik halus AUD. Melalui serangkaian workshop, diskusi interaktif, dan sesi praktik, guru-guru dibekali dengan teori dan praktik pengajaran inovatif yang berorientasi pada pengalaman belajar anak. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan guru mengintegrasikan metode baru ke dalam kurikulum dan pembelajaran sehari-hari, yang tercermin dalam keterlibatan yang lebih tinggi dan perkembangan keterampilan motorik halus pada anak-anak. Kesuksesan ini juga menggarisbawahi pentingnya pelatihan berkelanjutan bagi guru PAUD untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan anak usia dini. Program ini tidak hanya memberikan kontribusi pada pengembangan profesional guru tetapi juga menyoroti pentingnya kerjasama antar lembaga pendidikan dalam mendukung inisiatif pendidikan anak usia dini.Abstract: This community service program focuses on enhancing the fine motor skills of early childhood (EC) students at Kreatif Cendekia Kindergarten in Surabaya, through training methods for task delivery for seven early childhood education (ECE) teachers. The training is designed to improve teachers' understanding and skills in developing learning activities that support the fine motor development of EC students. Through a series of workshops, interactive discussions, and practice sessions, teachers are equipped with both theory and practice of innovative teaching oriented towards the children's learning experience. The training results show a significant improvement in teachers' ability to integrate new methods into the curriculum and daily learning, reflected in higher engagement and development of fine motor skills in children. This success also underscores the importance of ongoing training for ECE teachers to enhance the quality of early childhood education. This program not only contributes to the professional development of teachers but also highlights the importance of collaboration between educational institutions in supporting early childhood education initiatives.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan Guru TK Dharma Bakti Surabaya dalam menggunakan kegiatan montase sebagai alat evaluasi perkembangan motorik halus dan kreativitas anak. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pelatihan selama empat minggu yang mencakup pengenalan konsep montase, praktik pembuatan montase, dan evaluasi hasil kegiatan montase. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru setelah pelatihan, dengan skor rata-rata post-test meningkat dari 60 menjadi 85. Selain itu, kegiatan montase terbukti efektif dalam mengevaluasi perkembangan motorik halus dan kreativitas anak, di mana 70% anak menunjukkan peningkatan dalam kemampuan motorik halus dan 63,33% dalam kreativitas. Guru-guru melaporkan peningkatan motivasi dan antusiasme anak dalam mengikuti kegiatan montase. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah bahwa pelatihan dan penerapan montase sebagai alat evaluasi berhasil meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran dan memberikan manfaat yang berkelanjutan bagi perkembangan anak usia dini di TK Dharma Bakti Surabaya. Disarankan untuk melanjutkan program pelatihan serupa di sekolah-sekolah lain dan melakukan evaluasi jangka panjang untuk memastikan keberlanjutan dampak positif.Abstract. This community service activity aims to empower the teachers of TK Dharma Bakti Surabaya in using collage activities (montase) as an evaluation tool for fine motor skills and children's creativity development. The method used includes a four-week training program covering the introduction of the collage concept, hands-on collage making, and evaluation of the collage activities' outcomes. The results showed a significant increase in teachers' knowledge and skills after the training, with the average post-test score rising from 60 to 85. Additionally, the collage activities proved effective in assessing the development of fine motor skills and creativity, with 70% of children showing improvement in fine motor skills and 63.33% in creativity. Teachers reported increased motivation and enthusiasm among children in participating in the collage activities. The conclusion of this activity is that the training and implementation of collage as an evaluation tool successfully enhanced the quality of learning and provided sustainable benefits for early childhood development at TK Dharma Bakti Surabaya. It is recommended to continue similar training programs in other schools and conduct long-term evaluations to ensure the sustainability of the positive impacts.
