Abstract

Background: Environment consisting of  residential density, house ventilation, room humidity, and lighting, is regarded as one of the factors causing the transmission of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). The current research aimed to figure out the environmental factors determining the occurrence of pulmonary TB in Surabaya City. Objectives: the purpose of the current study was to figure out the environmental factor determining the incidents of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) in Surabaya CityMethods : This was observational research carried out by a cross-sectional approach. People with pulmonary TB registered for treatment at the Perak Timur Community Health Center and Jagir Community Health Center in Surabaya City were recruited as the research population. Meanwhile, the research samples were patients with pulmonary TB in both Community Health Centers. Simple random sampling was utilized to collect 130 patients as respondents. The data obtained were then analyzed using univariate and bivariate logistic regression. Results: The bivariate statistical test on the four research variables showed that residential density had OR=0.671, house ventilation had OR=2.874, room humidity had OR=1.231, and house lighting had OR=1.170. Fourth, environmental factors are not the cause of TB disease, because the results of statistical tests show that the OR value is above 0.5Conclusions: It can be concluded that residential density, lighting, and house ventilation did not influence the occurrence of pulmonary tuberculosis. It was more likely that it was caused by factors which do not come from the living environment. Suggestions for future research need to be an air swab examination around the residence of TB patients

Abstract

Abstract

Growth failure and discrepancy between height and age in childhood are the most common forms of malnutrition that can be seen globally, which will result in stunting. Stunting will hinder the development of human potential and resources throughout society because of its long-term impact on cognitive, affective and psychomotor functions. [1]. The incidence of stunting can be prevented by healthy living behavior from the time as a prospective bride, when the baby is in the womb, giving birth, postpartum and child care after birth until the golden period (under 2 years of age). The results of Kamariyah's research in 2023 in the working area of the Banyuurip Surabaya community health center with the results: it was still found that the majority of respondents in the research still had a poor level of knowledge, attitudes, behavior and level of independence in preventing stunting. As a form of research results, researchers continue these activities in the form of community service. The method used is to carry out mentoring movements to provide education and demonstrations in the first thousand days of life for pregnant women and mothers who have children aged before 2 years. The time used is one semester. The results achieved were an increase in knowledge, attitudes, behavior and level of independence to prevent stunting, almost all (90%) there was an increase in knowledge, almost all (92%) there was an increase in attitudes, and 96% there was an increase in behavior, and almost all (98%) ) there is an increase in the level of independence to prevent stunting. Descation: The first thousand days of life movement increases knowledge, attitudes, behavior and independence to prevent stunting. It is recommended that health workers provide community service.

Abstract

Background: Pulmonary Tuberculosis is one of the top ten causes of death worldwide. Case detection rate in East Java ranks eighth in Indonesia, namely 42.922 cases with treatment coverage of 44.7% of the treatment coverage target set at a minimum of 80%. Factors related to success include knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, work, etc. One of the supporting factors related to the success of treatment is the role of the drug swallowing supervisor. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the role of drug swallowing supervisor in the treatment of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Methods: The research design uses correlational, population analytic methods. Respondents used are 41 out of 46 pulmonary tuberculosis sufferers at health center in Surabaya using simple random sampling technique. The independent variable of the study is the role of drug swallowing supervisor and the dependent is the success of the treatment. The instrument use questionnaire and medical records. Results: Data processed using chi square test analysis, value = 0.05. The results showed that almost all of the 41 respondents (87.8%) had supportive drug swallowing supervisor, almost all (78%) the treatment was successful. Based on statistical tests obtained (p = 0.000) which proves that the role of drug swallowing supervisor has a relationship with the success of treatment in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Conclusion: The greater the supporting role, the greater the success rate of pulmonary tuberculosis treatment. It is expected that drug swallowing supervisor can motivate, assist, remind, and participate in socialization activities for handling pulmonary tuberculosis patients.
