Abstract

Nowadays, hot water is widely used for bath. For produce hot water, people usually use furnace to boil the water and other use an electricity to heat the water. Research in solar water heater can be the alternative to get hot water without using fossil fuels, replace the furnace and water that used electricity. In this study the solar collector was made the beverage cans as the absorber. The purposes of this study was to achieve the value of efficiency of solar collector and temperature of water at the outlet of storage tank, which the water circulation and a valve were opened at 30o. The dimensions of solar water heater were 2.3 meter in length, 0.8 meter in width and 1.8 meter in height and its volume of 127 L. The solar collector was placed at outside of laboratory Universitas Riau for 9 hours. The data taken from the testing were the temperature of absorber, flow rate, light intensity and temperature of water inlet and outlet. The result of this study showed the second day of the experiment, that was a better efficiency with 34.5%. Whilst, the highest temperature of water circulation was 44.9oC that was occurred in the first day.Keywords: Absorber, Solar Water Heaters, Collector.

Abstract

In the Air Conditioning engine, the resulting cooling effect is used to cool the room and the heat effect that is simply thrown into the environment. While, the Hybrid Residential Air Conditioning machine is utilizes the cooling effect and the simultaneous heating effect of the refrigeration machine. Chiller is a cooling system that uses cooling media (water or brine) and HCR-22 as a working fluid. The purpose of this study is to determine the consumption of electrical energy, by using standby mode method with 1000 Watt cooling load in this research got the average value Coefficient Of Performance (COP) of 2.471, average value Performance of Factor(PF) of 3.43, average value Total of Performance (TP) of 5.90. For the average temperature in the cooling chamber is 28.20 0C, the average temperature in the heating chamber is 44.64 0C, with an average compressor power of 1.2680 kW and electricity consumption in 2 hours of working of 2.5359 kWh.Keywords: Air Conditioning, Hybrid Residential, Chiller, Performance, Temperature, Compressor, Electricity.

Abstract

Solar dryer is a drying foodstuffs, agricultural products and fishery products with the aim of accelerate the drying process using solar energy. This research is aims to find out the performance of the dryer with heat storage on the reduction of the water content of the material. This tool is combined with a heat storage system using a split stone material or so-called rock beds as a sensible heat storage medium to dry raja sere bananas. The drying process is carried out for 8 hours with direct heating from solar thermal energy and continued for 4 hours by utilizing heat from the heat storage system. The test parameters include the intensity of solar radiation, temperature, and the decrease of material mass. The average solar intensity received by the solar collector is 882.39 W/m2, with an average material temperature of 34.02°C. The highest temperature on rack 8 is 35.09oC and the lowest temperature in rack 1 is 33.25oC. The highest rock temperature of 43.94oC with thermal energy is stored at 2311.87 kJ. Percentage reduction of material mass by 39.59% with final moisture content of 45% wet basis.Keywords: Solar Dryer, Heat Storage, Mass Reduction.

Abstract

The rapid growth of electricity demand is not followed by an increase in electricity supply will trigger an electrical crisis. One effort that can be done to overcome the problem is to save energy. Energy savings can be done with attention to one of the system of light and humidity. Where the system of light and air conditioning is one of the biggest things in the use of electricity by karna it is necessary to do analysis of the intensity of light and humidity room where the analysis is done in Building C Faculty of Engineering, University of Riau. From the calculation of the intensity of light and humidity in Building C Faculty of Engineering University of Riau note that most of the room in Building C Faculty of Engineering, University of Riau has the room temperature and lighting intensity below the standard value. Abstract

Increasing the efficiency is one of methods to assist the Indonesian government’s planning in saving energy. One of them is to combine two functions from two different devices become a new device that have two functions. For instance, Split AC is used to cool the room. The adding of dummy condenser in Split AC is using heat exhaust at condenser that functioned as water heater. In this research, it is aimed to identify the effect of adding the dummy condenser toward cooler load. The method used in this research was design and experimental method. Based on the test, When cooler load was given to the room, the more the burden of cooling given, the higher refrigerant temperature to be thus heat water temperature was higher as well. During the operation 120 minutes, it obtained that heat water temperature was 84,110C and refrigerant temperature was 64,770C.Keywords : Dummy Condenser, Temperature, Cooler load and water valve faucet.

Abstract

An energy saving and sustainable environmental become an attention of the world nowdays. Replacement of halocarbon refrigerant to hydrocarbon give positive impact to the environment because hydrocarbon is friendly refrigeran for environment with low GWP (Global Warming Potensial and zero ODP (Ozon Depleting Potensial). With the replacement refrigerant, it will cause a change performance on refrigeration machine. This study was conducted to determine the effect of hydrocarbon refrigerants with mass amounts of 60 grams on the performance refrigeration machine. The method used in this study was an experimental method to perform the replacement of halocarbons into a hydrocarbon refrigerant with mass amounts of hydrocarbon refrigerants of 60 grams. The results of the study of refrigerant hydrocarbon with mass amounts of 60 grams was found that the required electrical power for compressor of 0.14 kW, power of cooling of 0.73 kW, the heating power of 0.94 kW, and Coefficient Of Performance of 5.21.Keywords: Refrigeration Machine, Refrigerant Mass, Performance, Hydrocarbon Refrigerants

Abstract

The beverage cans is one of waste due to human activities. Most of the used beverage cans that can be found in a neighborhood were made of aluminum. Beverage cans at nowadays is often recycled become useful goods. Solar energy is the energy form of light and heat of the sun. solar energy in active used by solar water heater. In the solar water heater, there care collectors that can be used to absorb the sun's heat energy that is usually made of aluminum. This study aims to take advantage of used beverage cans as a collector and a test to determine the ability of the tool to heat the water. Solar water heater has the dimensions of length 2.3 m, width 0.87 m, a height of 1.5 m, and a volume of 127 L. The results reveal that highest temperature of the absorber obtained by 71,1 oC at 12:30 pm. The raising temperature of water in the tank from the initial temperature 28,3oC up to 43,30C.Keywords: Beverage cans, Solar Water Heaters, Collector.

Abstract

The hybrid of Residential Air Conditioning (RAC) is a cooling system that utilizes cooling effect and warming effect of refrigeration simultaneously to improve machine performance. Chiller is one of cooling system that used to cool liquid (brine or water) by using HCR-22 refrigerant as the cooling medium and the brine serves as a secondary refrigerant to cooling the room indirectly. Standby mode is a cooling method without using ice or cooling methods from the chiller directly. In this study, the RAC with standby mode is done without cooling load so resulting in a performance with Coefficient of Performance average is 2.46, Factor of Performance average is 3.42, and Total of Performance average 5.88. Then, the average temperature of cooler room is 22.54 ˚C. The average temperature of warmer room is 38.87 ˚C was able to contribute both as warming and it can stability of refrigeration system during process.Keywords : Hybrids RAC, Chiller, Standby mode, Performance, Temperature

Abstract

The direct solar drying model of the parallelogram cabinet type is a dryer of parallelogram shaped, which is intended to produce a uniform temperature distribution, so that the drying results can be uniformly and faster. This research aims to conduct an experimental study of direct solar drying, type of cabinet parallelogram shaped. The dried material was bananas, a drying capacity of 8 kg. Data obtained from this research was the temperature, radiation intensity, and mass reduction in bananas. Based on the data obtained, the average temperature in the drying chamber was 35.18ºC to 59.56ºC. The highest temperature of 62ºC occurred in racks 8 and the lowest temperature of 34ºC occurred in rack 1. The highest mass reduction was 0.301 kg occurred in racks 8 and the lowest mass reduction was 0.237 kg occurred in the first rack. Based on data, the higher of temperature, the mass reduction in the banana would be faster.Keywords: Solar Dryer, Mass Reduction, Drying

Abstract

In principle, the drying process involves the process of heat transfer and mass movement that occurs simultaneously. First, the heat must be transferred from the heating medium to the material. Furthermore, after water evaporation occurs, the moisture formed must be moved through the material structure to the surrounding medium. The purpose of this study is to determine the time required to dry bananas with water content that has been determined. The calculation analysis of consumption and energy cost for banana dryer system using heat pump. It is based on result oftheoritical calculations with closed air circle. The advantages of this study as development in the field of energy saving with refrigeration technology and air conditioning.From the experimental results and the analysis obtained the average temperature of dryer indoor that is 44,5oC and 47oC.Keywords: Drying, Temperature, Banana dryer system
