Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the role of teachers (SD and TK) and parents in preparing for the transition period of children to elementary school in Kecamatan Air Sugihan. This research uses descriptive quantitative research with a survei method. Respondents in this study were 7 first grade elementary school teachers, 11 kindergarten teachers, and 89 parents of students. The study results indicate that child development is not optimal and environmental changes are the main problems in the transition period of children so that the roles of teachers (SD and TK) and parents play an essential role in the transition period of children to produce optimal school readiness. This role is in the form of responsibility for children's school readiness, as a motivator for children, as a role model, as a supervisor and as a place to ask children so that all the needs of children's school readiness are met. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menggambarkan peran guru (SD dan TK) dan orangtua dalam penyiapan masa transisi anak ke sekolah dasar di kecamatan Air Sugihan. Penelitian menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif dengan metode survei. Responden dalam penelitian ini 7 orang guru kelas I SD, 11 orang guru TK, dan 89 orangtua siswa. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perkembangan anak yang belum optimal dan perubahan lingkungan merupakan masalah utama dalam masa transisi anak sehingga peran guru (SD dan TK) dan orangtua sangat berperan penting dalam hal masa transisi anak agar menghasilkan kesiapan bersekolah yang optimal. Peran tersebut berupa tanggung jawab terhadap kesiapan sekolah anak, motivator bagi anak, sebagai panutan, sebagai pengawas dan sebagai tempat bertanya anak sehingga semua kebutuhan dalam kesiapan sekolah anak terpenuhi.

Abstract

The flipped classroom is very helpful for students to understand learning material, but it is still very minimally used, especially in history learning. This study analyzed the effect of the flipped classroom model in history learning to improve students' critical thinking. This study employed a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design, by dividing into two class groups, namely experimental and control. The sample was 121 students who were selected through cluster random sampling technique. The data collection was through observation, interviews, and instruments in the form of critical thinking tests. Data analysis used an independent sample t-test and N-gain score test to analyze the effect of a flipped classroom in history learning to improve critical thinking. The results showed that the flipped classroom in history learning had a significant effect on improving students' critical thinking skills as evidenced by the independent sample t-test test with a significance value of 0.000<0.05, and the N-gain score test which was included in the moderate criteria. So, the flipped classroom model in history learning is very suitable to be used and implemented. Hence, learning objectives are achieved so that history learning can run well and optimally.

Abstract

This study describes the learning process of religious-based character education at TK ABA Berbah, Sleman, during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study incorporates a qualitative research method with a descriptive case study approach. Findings suggest that the school implemented blended learning activities in which lessons are conducted online and offline. Habituation became a key activity during the offline session. The involvement of parents contributed to the success of learning during the pandemic, set an example, and monitor their kids at home. Blended learning provided an increase in the communication's intensity and the relationship between parents, children, and teachers so that teaching and learning religious-based character education can be conducted appropriately amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Since the mid - 19th century the Samin people have made a contribution to resisting the Dutch colonial rule in rural Java through their non-violence movement and passive resistance (lijdelijk verset). History also notes that they have a unique culture and system of values which reflect their own local wisdom. However, many negative rumours have become widespread regarding this community. This article explores the marriage practices in Samin society and investigates how this society gives meaning to these marriage practices. It also examines whether the practice of 'virginity tests' and 'stray marriages' exist in contemporary Samin society.

Abstract

The second feminist wave in the 1960s has influenced feminists to increase their campaign against patriarchy in almost all areas. One of the areas which has made women very vulnerable is the issue of women in cinema. This article investigates some changes in the representation of women in cinema by comparing four movies: Stepford Wives (1975), Orlando (1992), When Night Is Falling (1995), and Stepford Wives (2004). This study was conducted by using modern hermeneutics method. The results indicate that these four films appear to contain three changed aspects regarding women, that is, the equality of work, the expression of sexual identity, and the image of ‘higher-education-woman’. The films also show that some aspects in the representation of women, such as the expectation of motherhood, the myth of sexuality, and the position of women as victims, remain unchanged.

Abstract

The high level of educational participation has not guaranteed the quality of education in a country. Especially developing countries, the issue of educational participation can be overcome with the maximum, but the problem that is still the agenda in various countries is about the equalization of the quality of education. This article is an article compiled based on literature review of the issues. One of the key factors causing inequality in the quality of education is the irregularity of the quality of educators which ultimately affects the inequality of teaching quality. The literature study conducted finding the teacher community is an effective solution to solve the problem. The professional community is an association of teachers to interact with each other and communicate in an integrated learning and teaching improvement. The professional community of teachers is considered to be able to overcome the quality of educators who are located in remote areas. The activities of this professional community of teachers can also be maximized by the use of various media such as internet network. Addressing the gap in teaching quality between remote and airspace will ultimately be able to address the inequalities of appropriate educational quality.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan dinamika relasi politik antara otonomi guru dan dominasi kekuasaan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif fenomenologis. Lokasinya di Kabupaten Bantul. Subjek terdiri dari 37 orang yang dipilih secara purposive. Prosedur penelitian ditempuh dengan lima langkah, dengan metode penggalian data: angket terbuka, wawancara mendalam, dan kajian dokumen. Trianggulasi melalui trianggulasi: metode dan sumber, diskusi ahli, dan penjelasan banding. Analisis data dilakukan secara kualitatif fenomenologis. Temuan penelitian adalah sebagai berikut. Pertama, upaya guru dalam membangun otonominya menuju sosok profesional dipengaruhi oleh dinamika politik. Kedua, terdapat politisasi guru oleh penguasa daerah, yang dilakukan melalui ‘praktik terselubung’ untuk ‘meraih dukungan’ dan berujung pada bargaining politik dan sharing kekuasaan. Ketiga, ada dua bentuk politik dominasi penguasa terhadap guru, yaitu melalui ‘politik kooptasi’ dan melalui ‘politik pengambilan hati’. Keempat, politik kooptasi berimplikasi negatif pada melemahnya sikap kritis guru, sedangkan politik pengambilan hati berimplikasi positif pada meningkatnya jumlah guru dalam studi lanjut dan meningkatnya kesejahteraan guru. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan menjelaskan penguatan otonomi guru di bawah dominasi penguasa daerah. Pendekatan penelitian adalah kualitatif fenomenologis dengan lokasi di Kabupaten Bantul. Subjek sebanyak 37 orang dipilih secara purposive. Pengumpulan data lewat angket terbuka, wawancara mendalam, dan kajian dokumen, serta trianggulasi melalui metode dan sumber, diskusi ahli, dan penjelasan banding. Analisis data dilakukan secara kualitatif fenomenologis. Temuan penelitian sebagai berikut. Pertama, penguatan otonomi menurut pandangan guru merupakan upaya menguatkan kualifikasi akademik dan kompetensi. Guru yang otonom adalah guru yang tidak terombang-ambing oleh kepentingan politik. Puncak penguatan otonomi guru adalah diperolehnya karakter dan kedaulatan. Kedua, terdapat politisasi guru oleh penguasa daerah melalui ‘praktik terselubung’ untuk ‘meraih dukungan’ dan berujung pada bargaining politik dan sharing kekuasaan. Ketiga, ada dua bentuk politik dominasi penguasa terhadap guru, yaitu melalui ‘politik kooptasi’dan ‘politik pengambilan hati’. Keempat, politik kooptasi berimplikasi negatif pada melemahnya sikap kritis guru, sedangkan politik pengambilan hati berimplikasi positif pada meningkatnya jumlah guru dalam studi lanjut dan meningkatnya kesejahteraan guru.
