Abstract

Developing 21st-century skills—such as critical thinking and communication—is essential to prepare students for real-world challenges, yet these skills remain underdeveloped in many science classrooms. This study investigates the effect of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model integrated with ethnoscience content based on the traditional food "Geplak" on students’ critical thinking and communication skills in the context of science education. It also examines whether significant differences exist between students taught using ethnoscience-based PjBL and those taught using the Discovery Learning model on the topic of food additives. A quasi-experimental design was employed with eighth-grade students, divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received learning through the PjBL model with ethnoscientific integration, while the control group followed the Discovery Learning model. Data were collected through pretest-posttest assessments on critical thinking, communication skill questionnaires, and observation sheets. MANOVA and effect size analyses revealed that the PjBL model significantly enhanced students’ critical thinking and communication abilities. The findings suggest that integrating local cultural content such as traditional food into science learning can meaningfully contribute to the development of essential 21st-century skills.

Abstract

Workshop kepenulisan esai ini bertujuan memberikan pemahaman mendalam tentang teknik menulis esai yang baik dan menarik sekaligus membantu peserta menuangkan pengalaman personal ke dalam tulisan yang terstruktur, beralur jelas, dan berpesan kuat. Kegiatan dilaksanakan tatap muka di The University of Western Australia pada 6 September 2025 dengan 40 peserta (mahasiswa postgraduate, anggota AIPSSA, dan keluarga). Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR) melalui siklus plan–act–observe–reflect yang mengintegrasikan pengantar konsep, praktik menulis terarah, coaching clinic, umpan balik berulang, serta kurasi profesional oleh Iqbal Aji Darjono. Evaluasi menggunakan angket Likert 1–5 mencakup aspek Materi, Narasumber & Fasilitator, Pelaksanaan, dan Manfaat. Hasil menunjukkan 35 esai layak kurasi (87,5%). Rerata kepuasan per aspek adalah Materi 4,60 (SD 0,43; %≥4: 92%), Narasumber & Fasilitator 4,60 (SD 0,65; %≥4: 92%), Pelaksanaan 4,34 (SD 0,63; %≥4: 80%), dan Manfaat 4,68 (SD 0,53; %≥4: 100%); rerata keseluruhan 4,54 dengan tingkat respons 62,5% (25/40). Temuan menegaskan efektivitas pendekatan PAR dan kurasi profesional dalam meningkatkan pengalaman belajar menulis serta kepercayaan diri peserta. Area perbaikan teridentifikasi pada alokasi waktu agar siklus revisi lebih mendalam, yang direncanakan melalui klinik tindak lanjut daring. Program ini layak direplikasi dengan penyesuaian konteks untuk memaksimalkan dampak pada kualitas tulisan dan produksi luaran buku yang diterbitkan.

Abstract

Utilizing local potential in learning can make students understand the object of material in daily life, its giving a positive impact on higher learning interests. This research aimed to find out student’s interest in learning science after using local potential integrated learning. The subject of the study was a class of students in one of Yogyakarta Junior High School 7th grade, consist of 30 students. This was Pre Experimental research with One Group Pretest Postest research design. The sample choosed by purposive sampling techniques. The instrument used was learning interest questionnaires. The poll was developed by researchers, by showing indicators of learning interest with 23 questions. The data analysis using paired sample t-test and n-gain test. The result shows that the significance value in paired sample t-test is 0.000, lower than 0.05, so it can be said that local potential integrated learnig is significance in increasing students' science learning interest. The average N-gain of student's learning interest increased before and after treatment by 0.60, belong to moderate criteria.

Abstract

IPA merupakan mata pelajaran yang sangat dekat dengan kehidupan sehari-hari karena objek IPA adalah segala sesuatu yang bersifat nyata dan konkret di alam semesta. Tetapi, tidak dapat dipungkiri, beberapa materi dalam IPA adalah materi yang abstrak dan tidak dapat diamati secara langsung, sehingga membutuhkan konstruksi konsep yang lebih kompleks. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui miskonsepsi siswa kelas 9 SMP pada materi system reproduksi manusia yang dianalisis berdasarkan jenis kelamin. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP IT Al Fawwaz, Cikarang Pusat, Kabupaten Bekasi dengan sampel 109 peserta didik kelas 9 yang terdiri dari 56 peserta didik perempuan dan 53 peserta didik laki-laki. Metode tes yang dilakukan adalah tes diagnosis dengan soal pilihan ganda sebanyak 30 nomor yang dilengkapi dengan alasan terbuka dan persentase tingkat keyakinan jawaban. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 58% peserta didik perempuan dan 66% peserta didik laki-laki mengalami miskonsepsi. Konsep mengenai organ system reproduksi wanita serta upaya perlindungan diri dari penyakit system reproduksi merupakan konsep dengan rentang miskonsepsi paling tinggi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan Subject Specific Pedagogy (SSP) IPA berbasis surrogate experiential learning pada materi bencana erupsi gunung berapi terhadap penguasaan konsep IPA dan kesiapsiagaan siswa menghadapi bencana erupsi gunung berapi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi experiment dengan desain pretest – posttest nonequivalent control group design. Sampel berjumlah 61 orang berasal dari SMP N 2 Cangkringan yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Perangkat pembelajaran yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah: (1) Silabus, (2) Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), dan (3) Lembar Kegiatan Peserta Didik. Adapun instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah: (1) Lembar Observasi Kesiapsiagaan, (2) Angket Kesiapsiagaan, dan (3) Soal pretest – posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan Subject Specific Pedagogy (SSP) IPA berbasis surrogate experiential learning pada materi bencana erupsi gunung berapi terhadap penguasaan konsep IPA siswa, tetapi, tidak terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan Subject Specific Pedagogy (SSP) IPA berbasis surrogate experiential learning pada materi bencana erupsi gunung berapi terhadap kesiapsiagaan siswa menghadapi bencana erupsi gunung berapi.Kata Kunci: subject specific pedagogy, surrogate experiential learning, kesiapsiagaan, penguasaan konsep.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) Mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan literasi sains siswa antara model discovery learning terintegrasi potensi Pantai Trisik dengan model direct instruction; (2) Mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model discovery learning terintegrasi potensi Pantai Trisik terhadap literasi sains. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian pretest-posttest control group design, dengan kelompok eksperimen menggunakan model discovery learning dan kelompok kontrol menggunakan model direct instruction. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen tes dan non tes. Instrument tes berupa soal pilihan ganda pretest-posttest domain kognitif literasi sains sedangkan instrumen non tes berupa lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, angket pretest-posttest domain afektif literasi sains. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis keterlaksanaan pembelajaran; analisis deskriptif; uji prasyarat meliputi uji normalitas, uji homogenitas; dan uji hipotesis meliputi uji independent sample t-test, uji effect size, serta uji korelasi terkait hubungan antara domain kognitif dan afektif literasi sains. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada kemampuan literasi sains peserta didik antara pembelajaran model discovery learning terintegrasi potensi Pantai Trisik dengan model direct instruction; (2) Terdapat pengaruh pembelajaran menggunakan model discovery learning terintegrasi potensi Pantai Trisik terhadap literasi sains siswa.

Abstract

Science process skills as an approach is very important, due to it fosters experience in science learning process. This study aims to analyze the influence of STEAM-based inquiry learning models on students' science process skills. The type of research used is experimental research. The research design used is a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The research data were collected using test techniques using pretest and posttest questions of science process skills, non-test techniques in the form of observation sheets of learning implementation, and observation sheets of science process skills. The data analysis technique used was percentage analysis of the learning implementation sheet and science process skills observation sheet, hypothesis prerequisite test in the form of normality test and homogeneity test, hypothesis testing with independent sample t-test, and effect size test. The results of the independent sample t-test test have a significance value of 0.013 <0.05, which shows a significant difference between the experimental and control classes. The magnitude of the treatment effect is measured by the effect size test, resulting in a value of 0.642, which is included in the strong category. Based on the analysis results, it can be concluded that the STEAM-based inquiry learning model significantly affects students' science process skills.

Abstract

Problem-solving skills are essential for students to navigate both academic challenges and real-world situations effectively. However, many junior high school students struggle to develop these skills, particularly in science education. This study aims to explore the effects of gamification, using Classcraft, integrated into the 5E Learning Cycle model on the science problem-solving skills of seventh-grade students. Conducted as a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design, the research involved a cluster random sample of public junior high schools in Yogyakarta. A pretest-posttest problem-solving skills test was administered, with instruments validated using Pearson correlation and reliability measured through Cronbach's alpha. Data analysis employed independent sample t-tests and effect size to determine the impact of the intervention. The results demonstrate that Classcraft-assisted gamification within the 5E Learning Cycle significantly enhances students' problem-solving abilities. This suggests that integrating gamification into instructional models not only boosts engagement but also fosters critical thinking skills crucial for everyday decision-making and problem resolution, thereby equipping students with practical skills applicable to real-life situations.

Abstract

Permasalahan pengelolaan sampah di tingkat desa seringkali terkendala oleh pencatatan manual, rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat, dan kurangnya transparansi sistem. Program ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan mengimplementasikan sistem bank sampah berbasis website melalui platform SADAKAH (Sampah Dadi Berkah) di Kalurahan Playen, Gunungkidul. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi studi literatur, pengumpulan data melalui survei dan wawancara, perancangan sistem dengan (Entity Relationship Diagram)ERD dan flowchart, pengembangan menggunakan framework Laravel 11, serta uji coba sistem oleh pengguna langsung. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan bahwa website SADAKAH mampu meningkatkan efisiensi pencatatan, transparansi data transaksi, serta partisipasi masyarakat dalam pengelolaan sampah. Tercatat peningkatan jumlah nasabah aktif hingga 136 KK (±9,4%), volume sampah terkelola sebesar 1.571,2 kg, dan peningkatan pendapatan masyarakat sebesar Rp3.015.464 selama tiga bulan. Selain itu, sistem juga berhasil mendukung pemasaran produk daur ulang dan menjadi media edukasi digital. Website ini menghadirkan fitur sesuai hak akses pengguna yang terdiri dari admin, operator, nasabah, dan pengunjung, yang mempermudah manajemen dan kontrol sistem secara menyeluruh. Inovasi ini diharapkan dapat direplikasi di desa lain untuk mendukung terwujudnya pengelolaan sampah berbasis digital yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Tissue paper is commonly used as a water substitute for cleaning, made from pulp with cellulose as the primary raw material. Salacca zalacca peel contains cellulose that can serve as an adsorbent capable of absorbing heavy metals in wastewater. With a cellulose content of 25.8483%, Salacca zalacca peel holds great potential as a raw material for producing environmentally friendly tissue paper. This study focuses on formulating Salacca zalacca peel waste with the addition of aromatherapy from Citrus nobilis peel extract to create eco-friendly tissue. The objectives of this research are to (1) identify the formulation process, (2) determine the best formulation, and (3) evaluate the quality of the eco-friendly tissue produced. The research uses a true experimental method, and data analysis includes organoleptic tests, tissue paper quantity tests, and biodegradability tests. The findings indicate that the best formulation is achieved with a 70% NaOH concentration, resulting in good physical quality tissue, characterized by a smooth texture, pale yellowish-brown color, and a dominant citrus scent. From a biodegradability perspective, all samples showed excellent degradation rates, confirming their environmentally friendly nature. This research contributes to sustainable environmental practices by offering an alternative to traditional wood-based tissue paper. Utilizing agricultural waste such as Salacca zalacca peel not only reduces the pressure on forest resources but also minimizes environmental pollution. The incorporation of natural aromatherapy further enhances the product's eco-friendly credentials, promoting a sustainable approach to tissue production that aligns with global efforts to reduce deforestation and encourage the use of renewable materials. In conclusion, the study demonstrates the feasibility of using Salacca zalacca peel and Citrus nobilis peel extract, combined with corn husk, as raw materials for producing eco-friendly tissue paper.
