Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies used by Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in instilling religious tolerance values in secondary schools in Kota Binjai, identify the obstacles faced during the learning process, and formulate solutions to improve the effectiveness of these strategies. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving PAI teachers as research subjects, and data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document studies. The results show that PAI teachers apply various strategies such as role modeling, interactive dialogue, and the use of learning media but face challenges including limited time, inflexible curriculum, and negative influences from the social environment and digital media. Proposed solutions include strengthening teacher capacity through training, curriculum reform, support from schools and communities, and utilizing information technology to enhance religious tolerance education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi dakwah yang dilakukan oleh Pimpinan Daerah Muhammadiyah (PDM) Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai melalui media sosial dalam upaya menjangkau dan membina Generasi Z. Latar belakang penelitian ini berangkat dari tantangan dakwah di era digital yang menuntut pendekatan baru yang lebih kreatif, adaptif, dan komunikatif terhadap karakteristik generasi muda. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dengan pengurus PDM, observasi terhadap aktivitas dakwah di media sosial, serta dokumentasi dari berbagai akun resmi Muhammadiyah di tingkat daerah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa PDM Serdang Bedagai memanfaatkan media sosial seperti Instagram, Facebook, dan TikTok sebagai sarana utama penyebaran pesan dakwah. Strategi yang diterapkan meliputi pembuatan konten visual menarik, penggunaan bahasa yang ringan namun bernilai dakwah, serta kolaborasi dengan tokoh muda Muhammadiyah untuk meningkatkan daya jangkau. Kendala utama yang dihadapi adalah keterbatasan sumber daya manusia dan konsistensi pengelolaan konten. Namun, upaya pelatihan digital bagi kader muda menjadi langkah progresif dalam memperkuat dakwah Muhammadiyah di ruang digital. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pemanfaatan media sosial secara strategis mampu meningkatkan efektivitas dakwah Muhammadiyah dalam menjangkau Generasi Z dan memperkuat eksistensi dakwah Islam moderat di era digital.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to examine how employing the tafsir methodology affects the proficiency in Qur'anic recitation demonstrated by attendees at the Pondok Pesantren Medan Reciting Center. Adopting a quantitative framework utilizing a descriptive-correlational design, this investigation will quantify the association and effect stemming from the implementation of the tafsir method on the pupils' level of Qur'an reading competence. Participants in this investigation comprise currently enrolled students at the facility who possess foundational skills in reading the Qur'an but encounter difficulties regarding reading speed, accurate articulation of sounds (makhraj), and correct execution of the rules of recitation tajweed. Data was collected through a Likert scale closed questionnaire that captured students' learning experiences with their interpretation methods and Qur'an reading skills. The data were analyzed using SPSS software, which included validity, reliability, normality, linearity, Pearson correlation, simple linear regression, and partial t-test. The results of the study show that the tafsir method makes a positive contribution in improving students' Qur'an reading ability. Integrating the explanation of verse meaning into the learning process supports smoother reading, more precise pronunciation of letters, and better application of tajweed. Thus, the tafsir method serves as an effective teaching strategy to improve the quality of students' Qur'an reading ability.

Abstract

Creating a positive school culture is essential for fostering students' moral, social, and academic development. In this context, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers are seen as key agents in cultivating value-based environments within educational institutions. This study aims to analyse the role of PAI teachers in shaping a positive culture at SMPN 6 Torgamba by identifying the forms of positive culture developed, the teachers’ planning strategies, their functional roles, and the supporting and inhibiting factors involved. A qualitative method with a case study approach was applied, utilising participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and a documentation study. The findings reveal that five core aspects of positive culture have been developed at the school: religious culture, discipline culture, literacy culture, mutual cooperation culture, and tolerance culture. PAI teachers’ planning encompasses learning, religious programs, collaboration, and self-development. Their roles are embodied in six dimensions: as educators (mu’allim), role models (uswatun hasanah), mentors (mursyid), motivators, cultural facilitators, and evaluators. Key factors include school policy support, inter-teacher collaboration, active student engagement, parental and community involvement, and adequate facilities. Conversely, challenges include time constraints, diverse student backgrounds, negative technological influences, limited teacher competencies, and resistance to change. This study highlights the strategic role of PAI teachers in driving cultural transformation and recommends greater institutional support for character-based education in public schools.

Abstract

Religious character education remains a challenge in secondary schools due to students’ declining discipline in worship practices and limited internalization of Qur’anic values in daily behavior. To address this issue, schools implement religious habituation programs such as the Qira'atul Qur'an Program. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Qira'atul Qur'an Program, analyze its role in strengthening students’ religious character, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation at SMA Yayasan Pendidikan Pancasila (YPP) Sawit Seberang. This research employed a qualitative, descriptive approach. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, Islamic Education teachers, religious mentors, and students. The results indicate that the Qira'atul Qur'an Program is implemented routinely and systematically before formal learning activities through habituation, talaqqi, and tahsin methods. The program contributes significantly to strengthening students’ religious character, as reflected in improved worship discipline, emotional calmness, polite behavior, and increased affection for the Qur'an. Supporting factors include strong institutional support, teachers’ commitment, and a conducive religious school environment, while inhibiting factors involve students’ diverse Qur'anic reading abilities and limited time allocation. Overall, the Qira'atul Qur'an Program plays a positive role in reinforcing religious character education at the secondary school level.
