Abstract

Kelley's perception theory and attribution theory are two main approaches in psychology that examine how individuals understand and give meaning to other people's behavior. Perception theory, based on the concept that people view the world through a subjective lens, highlights the importance of individuals' interpretations of social information in shaping their perceptions of others. In contrast, Kelley's attribution theory focuses on the way individuals explain behavior, both their own and that of others, through causal attributions to internal (such as personality) or external (such as situation) factors. By combining different psychological perspectives, these two theories provide valuable insights into the complexity and diversity of how humans understand and process social information in everyday interactions.

Abstract

Abstract

Work environment and career development are crucial factors influencing turnover intention among nurses. Coaching can act as an intervening variable that strengthens the relationship between these factors and turnover intention. This study aims to explore the influence of work environment and career development on turnover intention, with coaching as an intervening variable at Eka Hospital Bekasi. Methods: This research employed a quantitative method with a survey approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 110 nurses at Eka Hospital Bekasi. Data analysis was conducted using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses to understand the relationships between variables. Results: The results showed that work environment and career development have a significant influence on turnover intention. Coaching has a positive impact on reducing turnover intention, although its effect is smaller compared to the direct influence of work environment and career development on turnover intention. Conclusion: Work environment and career development are important factors influencing turnover intention, with coaching serving as an intervening variable that can reduce nurses' intention to leave. However, more effective coaching implementation is needed to optimize its impact on turnover intention. Recommendation: Eka Hospital Bekasi should enhance the quality of its work environment and career development, and ensure the effective implementation of coaching to reduce turnover intention among nurses

Abstract

This study investigates the primary challenges faced by English teachers in adapting English novels for instruction in Indonesian senior high school EFL classrooms. It explores the difficulties encountered and suggests practical strategies to enhance the integration of literature into language teaching. Employing a descriptive qualitative design, data were collected via online structured questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s (2006) thematic analysis framework. Participants were selected through purposive sampling from two senior high schools. Findings reveal that while teachers value adapted English novels for fostering language proficiency and cultural understanding, they face significant obstacles, including students’ limited reading competence, lack of instructional time, inadequate resources, and a curriculum that emphasizes functional English over literary study. Teachers commonly respond by simplifying texts and selecting more accessible literary content. This study contributes meaningful insights into the realities of literature adaptation in both vocational and general secondary EFL contexts in Indonesia. It offers practical implications for curriculum planners, educators, and policymakers by highlighting feasible classroom strategies and aligning literature use with existing curricular constraints. The research adds to current ELT literature by emphasizing context-specific pedagogical adaptations and advocating for more inclusive and literature-enriched English instruction.

Abstract

Cognitive function in the elderly refers to conscious mental activities such as thinking, remembering, learning, and using language. Cognitive impairments in the elderly can affect various aspects of life, including physical ability, independence in daily activities, and social relationships. Purpose of this study is to determine the effect of integrating brain vitalization exercises to low impact aerobic exercise on cognitive improvement in elderly individuals aged 65-75 years. This study employs a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 26 samples were selected using purposive sampling and divided into two groups: 13 elderly participants in the Low Impact Aerobic Exercise group and 13 in the group that combined brain vitalization exercises with low impact aerobics. The independent variable was the addition of brain vitalization exercises, and the dependent variable was cognitive function, measured using the GPCOG score instrument. Data analysis included the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and Paired Sample T-Test for hypothesis testing. Results showed that the average cognitive score before the intervention in the treatment group 1 was 5.58, and after the intervention, it was 7.77, with a p-value 0.000 (<0.05). The mean balance score before intervention in treatment group 2 was 5.54, and after the intervention, it was 7.08, with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) 0.000 (<0.05). The mean difference in treatment group 1 was 0.04, and in treatment group 2, it was 0.69, with a p-value of 0.111 (>0.05). Low-impact aerobic exercise significantly improves cognitive function in the elderly. However, the addition of brain vitalization exercises did not provide a statistically significant additional benefit. This type of exercise is still recommended as a regular activity to support cognitive health in older adults.
