Abstract

Humans use the sense of sight to recognize objects around them and manage the information these objects have. The process of managing information obtained from objects in the surrounding environment is referred to as visual processing. Visual processing includes several visual tasks, such as detecting the presence of objects, differentiating between objects, recognizing objects that are considered similar, identifying objects, pinpointing spatial locations, detecting their movements, colors and patterns, and making other types of decisions regarding visually complex events. . This process, which starts from light receiving by the optic part of the eye until cortical representations creation in the brain, is a complex process, and because of that, there are so many factors that can influence it. Among factors, there are factors that can optimize visual processing, such as emotional conditions, increased auditory orientation, and actions that accompany visual processes, as well as those that complicate visual processing, such as the aging process and the effects of premature birth. This understanding is important in determining the epidemiology of ocular disease and its influence in the diagnosis. of ocular disease.

Abstract

Menopause is permanently cessation of menstruation for at least 12 months in women with a median age of 51 years. The incidence of chronic diseases will be increased in menopause women, so that it affects their quality of life. Changes in estrogen levels during menopause are associated with an increase in body fat. This is an alarm sign for women's health because it causes an increase in blood pressure, insulin resistance and dyslipidemia. These changes can contribute to an increased risk of metabolic syndrome in menopausal women. Black cumin plant is a spice plant belonging to the Ranunculaceae family and grows in various regions of the world. Black cumin seeds and oils are usually used as traditional medicine for various diseases. The main bioactive substance in black cumin, thymoquinone, has a major influence in improving metabolic syndrome in menopausal women, especially in controlling lipid and blood sugar profiles. The mechanism of hypolipidemic action of N. sativa based on research caused by an increase in the regulation of LDL molecules through receptor-mediated endocytosis, and several other mechanisms. The hypoglycemic effect of N. sativa is by maintaining the integrity of pancreatic β cells, causing an increase in insulin levels.

Abstract

The structure of the central nervous system consists of the cerebrum, cerebellum, and spinal cord which are located in the cranial cavity and vertebral canal. The primary functional unit of the neural network is nerve cells (neurons) which function to form and transmit information in the form of electrical impulses and supporting cells (neuroglia) which are located around neurons and are more numerous than neurons. The parts of a neuron include the cell body (soma or perikaryon), dendrites and axons. Based on the number of dendrites and axons, neurons are classified into multipolar, bipolar and pseudounipolar neurons. Neuroglia consist of astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, microglia, and ependymal cells. Neuroglia play a role in providing a conducive microenvironment for the activity of neurons. The peripheral nervous system is a nervous system that connects all parts of the body with the central nervous system, this system consists of nervous tissue located outside the brain and spinal cord (spinal cord) such as the skin and other senses, the peripheral nervous system consists of cells Nerve cells group together to form ganglia, nerve fibers, and nerve end bodies

Abstract

World Health Organization (WHO) declared Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) a pandemic as of March 9, 2020. Data as of October 8, 2021 recorded a total positive case of COVID-19 in Lampung Province were 49,304 cases with 3,790 deaths. Disease progression in COVID-19 patients was determined based on the results of laboratory tests. Several studies reported that the value of Neutrophil Lymphocytes Ratio (NLR) was strongly associated with clinical worsening and even death in COVID-19 patients. This study was purposed to determine the relationship between NLR with death in COVID-19 patients. This study was an observational analytic study with a cross sectional design. The sample was medical record data taken from 44 COVID-19 patients who survived and 44 COVID-19 patients who died in March 2020 - September 2021 at Dr. RSUD. H. Abdul Moeloek Lampung Province. The sample was selected using purposive sampling technique. Statistical analysis was performed by univariate and bivariate analysis. The result of the bivariate analysis with chi quare test showed the p value was 0.000 (p<0.5), which indicated that there were a relationship between NLR with death in COVID-19 patients at RSUD Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek Lampung Province. There were a statistically significant relationship between NLR with death in COVID-19 patients at RSUD Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek Lampung Province.
