Abstract

This study concerned with elementary teacher education students not prepared to have competency in parental involvement in education. The research aimed to explore their perceptions of the importance of parental involvement in elementary education. A 30-item online survey questionnaire, which employed a series of Likert-style statements in five types of parent involvement, was utilized to measure their perceptions. The study involved 1,459 undergraduate students majoring in elementary teacher education as participants, representing 72 study programs of universities and college schools in Indonesia. Descriptive and mean score comparison analyses were employed to make the obtained data meaningful. The finding revealed that the students rated parental involvement as an urgent aspect of elementary school education. The study discovered no significant difference between male and female students, significant differences among sophomore, junior, and senior students, and significant differences among students of public and private higher education institutions. The findings indicated that all respondents agreed on the importance of involvement and revealed implications for the elementary education study program.

Abstract

Strengthening multicultural self-efficacy through counseling requires culturally adapted approaches, including the use of cultural tools. This study aims to validate the Keruntung-integrated Solution-Focused Counseling model (K-SFC) as an innovative model to enhance students’ multicultural self-efficacy. The Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) was employed to obtain expert consensus on the core component of Keruntung within the SFC framework. A panel of 12 experienced school counselors reviewed and rated the proposed model components. The results demonstrate strong expert agreement on the relevance and usefulness of Keruntung as a culturally grounded model that promotes counseling engagement, supports solution-focused dialogue, and strengthens students’ multicultural awareness. The finalized model presents a theoretically sound and culturally responsive framework for incorporating indigenous cultural tools into SFC practice. This study contributes to the advancement of culturally based-counseling interventions and provides foundational direction for future empirical implementation and evaluation of K-SFC in Indonesian school settings.

Abstract

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has transformed psychological assessment practices in education, including guidance and counseling services in high schools. However, mental health assessments in schools are still largely conducted manually, limiting efficiency, data integration, and timely intervention. This study aims to analyze the need for developing a web-based mental health literacy scale for high school students by examining four main components: student needs, school counselor needs, scale characteristics, and counseling service needs. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using observations, semi-structured interviews, and a needs analysis questionnaire. Participants included 1,000 high school students and 20 school counselors in Palembang and its surrounding areas. The results showed that most need components were rated at high to very high levels. Students expressed strong expectations for digital assessment instruments that are accessible, relevant, stigma-sensitive, and user-friendly, while school counselors emphasized the importance of technological support, the availability of structured data, and strong psychometric quality. Furthermore, the need for counseling services highlights the urgency of integrating assessment, digital counseling services, early detection, school collaboration, and data-driven evaluation. These findings underscore the need to develop a web-based mental health literacy scale as part of an integrated digital counseling system to support effective, evidence-based, and responsive mental health services in schools.
