Abstract

Education About Healthy School Snacks and Early Identification of Borax Using SpiceNutrition for school-age children are a significant factor in developing small and medium-scale food businesses. Unfair competition in the food business encourages the addition of hazardous chemicals to extend the shelf life of foods such as borax and formalin. This community service aims to understand students, parents, and teachers about healthy snacks and how to identify borax content in food using spices (turmeric). This community service is carried out at Ali Imran Kindergarten, Rappocini District, Makassar. Forty students attended this counselling, 35 parents and eight teachers. This activity begins with the presentation about the importance of healthy snacks and the dangers of borax and formalin. A demonstration of the use of turmeric to detect the presence of borax was carried out in front of parents and teachers. In the end, they were allowed to practice. The results showed an increase in the ability of parents and teachers (100%) to identify borax in food using turmeric.Keywords : Borax, Healthy snack, Turmeric, CounselingKebutuhan siswa akan makanan dan jajanan merupakan faktor utama berkembangnya usaha makanan skala kecil dan menengah. Pesatnya perkembangan usaha makanan tersebut bukan tidak mungkin mendorong timbulnya persaingan antar pedagang yang kurang sehat termasuk penambahan bahan kimia berbahaya untuk memperpanjang masa simpan makanan seperti boraks dan formalin. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi terhadap siswa, orang tua dan guru mengenai pentingnya jajanan sehat dan cara mengidentifikasi kandungan boraks dalam jajanan menggunakan bumbu dapur. Pengabdian ini dilakukan di Taman Kanak-kanak (TK) Ali Imran, Kecamatan Rappocini, Makassar. Penyuluhan ini diikuti oleh 45 orang siswa, 40 orang tua siswa dan 6 orang guru. Kegiatan ini diawali dengan pemaparan materi mengenai pentingnya jajanan sehat serta bahaya boraks dan formalin. Demonstrasi penggunaan kunyit (Curcuma domestica) untuk mendeteksi adanya boraks dilaksanakan di depan orang tua siswa serta guru dan di akhir kegiatan mereka diberikan kesempatan untuk mempraktikkan. Hasil penyuluhan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan orang tua siswa dan guru untuk mengidentifikasi boraks dalam makanan menggunakan kunyit yang ditunjukkan dengan semua peserta (100%) berhasil mempraktikkan.Kata kunci: Boraks, Jajanan, Kunyit, Penyuluhan

Abstract

Nanopartikel seng merupakan material yang banyak digunakan dalam industri farmasi dan kosmetik, sebagai tabir surya, pemutih kulit, dan antiaging. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mensintesis nanopartikel seng menggunakan ekstrak etanol daun kopasanda sebagai stabilizer dengan metode reduksi kimia dan menentukan pengaruh kadar ekstrak etanol daun kopasanda terhadap kestabilan seng nanopartikel. Pada penelitian ini, bahan baku yang digunakan adalah daun kopasanda kemudian diproses dengan beberapa tahap yaitu sortasi basah, penucian,perajangan, pengeringan dan sortasi kering kemudian dimaserasi hingga didapatkan ekstrak kental . Rendamen ekstrak etanol daun kopasanda yang didapatkan adalah 23,79%. Ekstrak etanol daun kopasanda digunakan sebagai reduktor untuk mensintesis nanopartikel seng terhadap ZnO dalam larutan Zn(NO3)2.4H2O. Dari hasil pengukuran berdasarkan spektrofotometri UV-Vis diperoleh panjang gelombang maksimum 354,70 nm dan absorbansi sebesar 1,062 . Berdasarkan pengukuran dengan Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) nanoptartikel seng yang telah disintesis memiliki ukuran rata-rata partikel dalam sampel yaitu 213,6 nm.

Abstract

Kopasanda (Chromolaena odorata L.) is a plant that contains flavonoid compounds that can act as antioxidants. This study aims to determine the antioxidant potential of the ethanol extract of the stems, leaves and roots of kopasanda by looking at the IC50 value. The stems, leaves and roots of Kopasanda were extracted by maceration using 70% ethanol as solvent. The results of the antioxidant activity test using the ABTS method (2.2'- azino - bis (3 - ethylbenzothiazoline - 6- sulfonic acid) showed a very strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 11.5380 g/ml leaves, 31.161 g/ml stems and 36,860 roots. g/ml with positive control of quarcetin obtained IC50 value of 1.698 g/ml. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the stems, leaves and roots of the encounter have very strong antioxidant activity against ABTS free radicals (2,2'- azino - bis (3 - ethylbenzothiazoline). - 6- sulfonic acid).

Abstract

Tekelan (Choromolaena odorata L.) merupakan tanaman yang mengandung senyawa yang dapat berperan sebagai antioksidan. Tujuan penelitian ini dilakukan untuk identifikasi kandungan senyawa dan mengetahui potensi ekstrak etanol 96% daun tekelan menggunakan metode ABTS. Simplisia yang diperoleh selanjutnya diekstraksi dengan metode maserasi menggunakan etanol 96%, dihitung rendemennya dan diidentifikasi kandungan senyawa menggunakan metode KLT kemudian dilakukan uji aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode ABTS. Diperoleh hasil penelitian yaitu kadar air simplisia 9%, rendemen ekstrak 12,4%, kandungan senyawa dalam ekstrak etanol daun tekelan yaitu alkaloid, flavonoid, steroid dan tannin menggunakan metode KLT. Nilai IC50 ekstrak yaitu 28,323 μg/mL menunjukkan aktivitasnya sebagai antioksidan dan pembanding kuersetin dengan nilai IC50 2,334 μg/mL. Dapat disimpulkan potensi antioksidan ekstrak etanol 96% daun tekelan memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat kuat, hal ini dikarenakan adanya kandungan senyawa flavonoid yang memiliki potensi sebagai antioksidan. Tekelan (Choromolaena odorata L.) is a plant that contains compounds that can act as antioxidants. The aim of this research was to identify the compound content and determine the potential of a 96% ethanol extract of tekelan leaves using the ABTS method. The simplicia obtained was then extracted using the maceration method using 96% ethanol; the yield was calculated; the compound content was identified using the TLC method; and antioxidant activity was tested using the ABTS method. The results obtained were that the water content of simplicia was 9%, the extract yield was 12.4%, and the compound content in the ethanol extract of tekelan leaves was alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, and tannins using the TLC method. The IC50 value of the extract is 28.323 μg/mL, indicating its activity as an antioxidant and a comparison for quercetin with an IC50 value of 2.334 μg/mL. It can be concluded that the antioxidant potential of the 96% ethanol extract of tekelan leaves has very strong antioxidant activity. This is due to the content of flavonoid compounds, whichhave potential as antioxidants.

Abstract

Scabies Prevention Through Peer Educators At The Entrepreneur School Of Tahfidz Kekasih Al-Aqsha, Gowa, South SulawesiBased on a survey that was carried out, it was found that there were incidents of head lice and scabies infections at the Tahfidz Kekasih Al-Aqsa Entrepreneurial School, in Pattallassang, Kab. Gowa, South Sulawesi. This shows that the student's knowledge of this disease is still low. So it is necessary to carry out outreach to increase students' knowledge of the dangers of scabies and its treatment. 45 students and 5 teachers attended this counseling. The methods used in this service are lecture, question and answer, and scabies examination. The presentation of material about scabies was carried out using PowerPoint media, after which the material continued with a question-and-answer session. At the end of the activity, a health examination was carried out to identify and provide treatment to students and teachers who suffered from scabies. The results of the counseling showed that 2 students were suffering from scabies. The counseling was considered successful because the students answered all the questions (100%).Keywords: Counseling, Peer Education, Scabies Berdasarkan survei yang telah dilakukan ditemukan adanya kejadian infeksi kutu rambut dan skabies (kudis) di Sekolah Enterpreneur Tahfidz Kekasih Al-Aqsha, di Pattallassang, Kab. Gowa, Sulawesi Selatan. Hal ini menunjukkan masih rendahnya pengetahuan para santri terhadap penyakit tersebut. Maka perlu dilakukan sosialisasi untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan santri terhadap bahaya penyakit skabies serta pengobatannya. Penyuluhan ini diikuti oleh 45 orang santri dan 5 orang guru. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah metode ceramah, tanya jawab, dan pemeriksaan skabies. Pemaparan materi tentang skabies dilakukan menggunakan media PowerPoint, setelah pemaparan materi dilanjutkan dengan sesi tanya jawab. Di akhir kegiatan, dilakukan pemeriksaan kesehatan untuk mengetahui dan memberikan pengobatan kepada santri maupun guru yang menderita skabies. Hasil penyuluhan menunjukkan bahwa ada 2 orang santri yang menderita skabies. Penyuluhan dinilai berhasil karena semua pertanyaan yang diberikan berhasil dijawab oleh santri (100%).Kata kunci : Penyuluhan, Peer Education, Skabies

Abstract

Kopasanda (Chromolaena odorata L.) is a plant that contains flavonoid compounds that can act as antioxidants. This study aims to determine the antioxidant potential of the ethanol extract of the stems, leaves and roots of kopasanda by looking at the IC50 value. The stems, leaves and roots of Kopasanda were extracted by maceration using 70% ethanol as solvent. The results of the antioxidant activity test using the FRAP (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power) method showed very strong antioxidant activity with IC50 values ??of leaves 23.4 µg/ml, stems 37.556 g/ml and roots 36.860µg/ml with positive control of quarcetin, IC50 values ??were 2.724 g/ml . Based on these results, it can be said that the stems, leaves and roots have very strong antioxidant activity against the reduction of FRAP (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power).

Abstract

The need for skin care is increasing. One indicator of skin health is the brightness of skin color. Tyrosinase enzyme can darken skin color due to its activity against melanin biosynthesis. Skin color will also change when exposed to UV rays, even at a more severe level can cause cancer. The purpose of this study was to determine the tyrosinase enzyme inhibitory activity of ethanol extract of copasanda leaves of Chromolaena odorata L. C. odorata leaves are weeds from the Asteraceae family which contain several compounds such as tannins, phenols, flavonoids, saponins, and steroids. In this study, the ethanol extract of C. odorata leaves was tested in inhibiting tyrosinase enzyme activity based on the percent inhibition. Determination of tyrosinase enzyme inhibitory activity using UV-Vis spectrometer at a wavelength of 495 nm, done by calculating the IC50 value with kojic acid as a positive control. The results showed that the IC50 value of the tyrosinase enzyme inhibition activity test, kojic acid as a positive control amounted to 27,472 mg L-1 (very strong), the sample of ethanol extract of C. odorata leaves amounted to 81,546 mg L-1 (very strong). The ethanol extract of C. odorata leaves has an inhibitory effect on tyrosinase enzyme which is used as a potential source material for natural antimelagenic compounds. Salah satu indikator kesehatan kulit adalah kecerahan kulit warna kulit. Enzim tirosinase dapat menggelapkan warna kulit karena aktivitasnya melawan biosintesis melanin. Warna kulit juga akan berubah ketika terpapar sinar UV, bahkan pada tingkat yang lebih parah dapat menyebabkan kanker. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas penghambatan enzim tirosinase dari ekstrak etanol daun kopasanda Chromolaena odorata L. Daun C. odorata merupakan tumbuhan gulma dari family Asteraceae yang mengandung beberapa senyawa seperti tannin, fenol, flavonoid, saponin, dan steroid. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian terhadap ekstrak etanol daun C. odorata dalam menghambat aktivitas enzim tirosinase berdasarkan persen penghambatannya. Penentuan aktivitas penghambatan enzim tirosinase menggunakan alat Spektrometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 495 nm, dilakukan dengan menghitung nilai IC50 dengan asam kojic sebagai kontrol positif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai IC50 dari uji aktivitas penghambatan enzim tirosinase, asam kojic sebagai kontrol positif sebesar 27,472 mg L-1 (sangat kuat), sampel ekstrak etanol daun C.odorata  sebesar  81,546 mg L-1 (sangat kuat). Ekstrak etanol daun C. odorata memiliki efek penghambatan terhadap enzim tirosinase yang digunakan sebagai bahan sumber potensial senyawa antimelagenik alami. Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of the Arga Math program is to introduce and implement the “Plakat” (Rank Number Board) as an innovative teaching aid to enhance students’ mathematical understanding, specifically in exponentiation. This visual tool aims to foster student engagement, simplify abstract concepts, and support teachers in creating more interactive and effective learning environments. Methodology/approach: The socialization activity was conducted at MTS Sinoa using a service-learning approach focused on knowledge transfer. The session began with a brief presentation on the concept and function of Plakat Teaching Aid. This was followed by hands-on practice, where participants applied the tool to solve exponent-related problems. Feedback and perceptions were collected through a structured questionnaire completed by teachers and students after the activity. Results/findings: The results of the activity showed that the Plakat teaching aid helped both teachers and students better understand exponentiation. Students demonstrated increased enthusiasm and confidence in solving exponential problems, while teachers acknowledged the usefulness of the tool in delivering abstract content. Furthermore, the activity motivated educators to design similar instructional media that aligned with curriculum objectives and encouraged creativity in teaching mathematics. Conclusions: The Arga Math Plakat proved to be an effective visual learning aid, making abstract mathematical concepts more accessible. It positively affects learning outcomes and inspires both students and educators. Limitations: The activity had limited reach due to time constraints and the participation of only 13 eighth-grade students, with minimal involvement from other educators. Contribution: This initiative supports educational innovation and contributes to achieving SDG Goal 4: Quality Education.
