In the contemporary context, the significance of utilizing online media as an information portal cannot be overstated. This importance is particularly pronounced during the Covid-19 pandemic, as people actively seek information through online platforms to meet their informational requirements. The primary objective of this research is to investigate the visual elements employed in Covid-19 campaigns, with each element carrying meaningful representations. To accomplish this, the researcher employs visual culture studies to analyze Covid-19 campaigns from a neurophysiological perspective. The methodology involves employing a semantic differential scale and principal components analysis (PCA) with the participation of 22 respondents, who assess 12 binary paired adjective concepts. The analysis centers on four images sourced from the online media platform www.covid19.go.id. The findings indicate that people perceive visual objects influenced by technology in a manner that involves recognition. Each visual element serves as a representation of knowledge and is linked to specific ideas. From a modern neurophysiological standpoint, technology-mediated visual elements lead to logical and constructive outcomes while exhibiting unique affordabilities. These research findings impart valuable insights to the Government of Indonesia, underscoring the importance of considering physiological, affective, and aesthetic aspects of visual elements in formulating their pandemic campaign policies

In Animal Farm, George Orwell introduces mimicry and internal colonisation. Mimicry, a basic notion in human imitation, is used to study Napoleon and his porcine companions. Homi K. Bhabha's ambivalence and “same but not quite” theory examines mimicry. The pigs' behaviour is explained by these post-colonial theories. This study also shows how internal colonisation underlies narrative mimicry. This study claims that the story's copying indicates colonization's lasting effects and is a strategy for internal colonisation. Old Major's clear speech inspires Animal Farm residents to imitate humans, making them feel inadequate. This study reveals how internal or external colonisation divides colonised people. In this approach, people may adopt the conquering entity's cultural norms and values as superior. Another group may be indigenous. Internal colonisation by another party or associated group could result through imitation rivalry. This level requires imitation to demonstrate power. Animal Farm exemplifies colonised people imitating colonisers. This detailed analysis of Animal Farm by George Orwell shows how imitation and internal colonisation are interconnected.

The teaching of English literary works in a foreign language context remains a textual-oriented activity. Students were required to comprehend the linguistic and thematic features of the texts. However, more often than not, students were not aware of the real sociocultural, economic, and political conditions from which the text was based because they focused more on understanding the textual contents of the text. In Indonesia where English was still considered as a foreign language, the phenomenon was common. This paper examined the results of a contextual approach given to students when discussing a literary text. The contextual approach was implemented in three stages: pre-reading activities; reading, discussing, and analyzing the text by paying attention to its linguistic features and plot; and connecting the text with real-life situations. The study involved 31 English Literature students at Universitas Negeri Semarang from the third semester. The text discussed was a short story titled “In Other Rooms, Other Wonders” which contained feminist issues. The researchers also used questionnaires and observed the students’ activities during the three stages to enrich the data. The results revealed that the approach helped the students to understand feminist issues more comprehensively. They were able to relate the circumstances depicted in the story with the real sociocultural, economic, and political conditions of the society where the story was based. The results also suggested that the method was effective in developing the students’ literacy skills.

The discourse on technoculture reflects the relationship between humans and technology. Such a relationship is built upon an understanding that humans need technology to increase efficiency. In fact, technocultural discourse produces a way to see and understand the world from a different angle. Up to today, the technocultural life world remains largely unexplored.

This subaltern study addresses the abuse of power that oppresses the subaltern. In the novel history fiction, I Must Betray You (2022) by Ruta Sepetys. This article analysis uses Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak's subaltern approach based on her essay “Can the Subaltern Speak". Spivak defines the concept of the subaltern as a marginalized group under the control of the dominant group then they do not have access to their voice. In I Must Betray You, many oppressive acts of abuse of power occur through policies, rules, and even manipulations carried out by the Romanian communist regime under leadership Nicholas Ceausescu in 1989 which put the Romanians in a position where they could not voice what they experienced. In collecting data article, the researcher used a descriptive qualitative method by taking excerpts from the narrative. The researcher also used intrinsic elements to describe the conflict that occurred in the narrative. The findings and discussion of this research are divided into 3 main points; the depiction of characteristics, plot using Freytag's pyramid and theme. Through these 3 main points, the researcher concluded that the depiction through each of these elements becomes connected, so that the author can describe the subaltern from various perspectives.

This paper aims to present theoretical findings related to the translation field in relation to efforts to reveal the value of the intangibility of cultural artifacts in the form of craft products. The theoretical findings here are ideas obtained when carrying out re-readings that are being carried out (work-in-progress) based on the findings of two previous studies on the manifestation of artifacts that focus on the aspect of human-technology interaction and its interpretation. The re-reading of the two previous research findings is qualitative interpretative in nature that focuses on the translation mode in the process of producing craft products. This re-reading attempts to find the position of the translation field as a complement to awareness when revealing the value of the intangibility of craft products. The findings of this re-reading are expected to be an inspiration for developing a tool that can assist in research activities into craft products and/or cultural artifacts based on the dynamics of cultural translation.
