Abstract

Kasus kanker serviks terus meningkat, namun kesadaran wanita melakukan skrining masih sangat rendah.

Abstract

Natural disasters result in increased risk of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and reduced quality of life (QoL), especially in vulnerable groups such as women. Objective: To determine the relationship between the incidence of metabolic syndrome and the quality of life of women in Tondo Permanent Residence, Palu City. The study used a cross sectional design with a total sample of 80 women aged 18-65 years selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through measurement of blood pressure, lipid profile, blood glucose, abdominal circumference, and quality of life questionnaire, then analyzed using chi square test and odds ratio (OR) with STATA software.  53.75% of respondents had metabolic syndrome, with significant risk factors including age, high blood pressure, total cholesterol >200 mg/dL, triglycerides >200 mg/dL, blood glucose >100 mg/dL, and abdominal circumference >80 cm. Abdominal circumference >80 cm was the strongest predictor with an OR of 77.5. Women with a better metabolic profile had a higher quality of life. There is a significant association between metabolic syndrome and the quality of life of women in Tondo Permanent Residence.

Abstract

Infectious diseases remain a major public health concern due to their high morbidity and mortality rates, including conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases, and diabetes mellitus. Cardiovascular disease and diabetes are strongly associated with central obesity, dyslipidemia, elevated fasting blood glucose, and hypertension. Metabolic syndrome is defined as a constellation of complex metabolic abnormalities that significantly increases the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and type II diabetes mellitus. The key components implicated in the pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome include hypertension, central obesity, insulin resistance, and atherogenic dyslipidemia. This study aimed to educate the community about metabolic syndrome while simultaneously conducting early detection. The screening procedures included measurements of blood pressure, waist circumference, blood glucose levels, the measurement of total cholesterol, triglycerides, and low density lipoprotein (LDL) levels was performed using the Point of Care Testing (POCT) method. A total of 52 respondents participated in this activity, consisting of 57.7% (n=30) females and 42.3% (n=22) males. The results indicated that 92.3% (n=48) had normal blood glucose levels, 100% (n=52) had normal total cholesterol, and 21.2% (n=11) had normal LDL levels. Normal blood pressure was observed in 34.6% (n=18), while 67.3% (n=35) were found to have central obesity. Overall, 9.6% (n=5) of respondents were diagnosed with metabolic syndrome, whereas 90.4% (n=47) were not. Most respondents demonstrated metabolic risk factors such as hypertension, central obesity, and elevated LDL levels, despite having normal blood glucose and total cholesterol. These findings underscore the importance of continuous public health education and targeted interventions to prevent and reduce the prevalence of metabolic syndrome in the community.

Abstract

Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is one of the diseases that currently threatens public health. One of the biggest triggers for CHD is atherosclerosis or narrowing of the arteries which begins with an inflammatory process. Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) and High Sensitivity C-reactive Protein (Hs-CRP) are acute phase proteins that will appear when an inflammatory process occurs. This study aims to assess the correlation between ESR and Hs-CRP as a marker of inflammation in CHD patients. The research method used was laboratory observation with a cross sectional design. The results of the normality test using shapiro-wilk show a value of p0.05, which means that the data is normally distributed. The average ESR value was 14.25 mm/hour in the male gender category and 26.45 mm/hour in the female gender category. The results of the Spearman-rho correlation test showed that there was a moderate correlation between LED and Hs-CRP (r=0.564). The conclusion of this study is that there is a correlation between ESR and Hs-CRP values in CHD patients. The conclusion of this study is that there is a correlation between ESR and Hs-CRP values in CHD patients.

Abstract

Diabetic wounds are one of the neurovascular complications of diabetes. Hyperglycemia complicates the healing of diabetic wounds, which are susceptible to infection and chronic inflammation. Topical treatment using herbal extracts aims to reduce the side effects of surrounding tissue damage. A topical ointment made from ethanol extract of Patiwala (Lantana camara) leaves, which has been tested for product quality, has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects that has been proven to help accelerate the healing of diabetic wounds in rats through parameters such as reduced wound diameter, changes in the number of fibroblast cells, and collagen fiber formation seen in the histological profile during 21 days of therapy with a concentration of 15% (p>0.05) compared to the positive control of 10% betadine.
