Abstract

The quality of freshwater in peatland areas poses significant concerns for both governmental bodies and local communities. Challenges arise during well drilling activities, where individuals often encounter difficulties in accessing fresh water, either due to its absence or contamination with peat-infused water. Tarai Bangun Village, situated in the Kampar Regency of Riau, represents a critical peatland region warranting thorough investigation, particularly along street of Sarana Utama. Despite lacking social amenities such as markets, the area is equipped with essential facilities like schools and places of worship. This study aims to assess the efficacy of Wenner and Schlumberger configuration modeling in horizontal and vertical soil mapping, thereby facilitating a comprehensive understanding of groundwater distribution and aquifer zoning within the peatland areas under examination. Analysis conducted utilizing Res2DInv software for horizontal modeling revealed significant findings. In track 1, groundwater layers were identified at depths of 6.50 meters and 19 meters, comprising gravel, sandstone, and limestone. Track 2 exhibited an aquifer layer spanning depths from 2.50 meters to 24.9 meters, consisting of alluvium, gravel, and limestone. Furthermore, interpretation of 1D geoelectric vertical model cross-sections using Progress software unveiled additional insights. Path 1 delineated depths of 0.12 meters, 19.30 meters, and beyond 41.28 meters, featuring a lithological composition of sandstone, limestone, and dry gravel. Path 2 showcased depths of 0.14 meters, 9.43 meters, and exceeding 12.02 meters, characterized by dry sand and gravel formations.

Abstract

The properties of barium titanate (BaTiO3) nanoparticles synthesized with rambutan leaf extract (Nephelium lappaceum L.) were analyzed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) characterization techniques. Rambutan leaf extract contains bioactive compounds that have the potential to enhance unique physical and chemical properties. This study aims to analyze the properties of the nanoparticles and to characterize the functional groups present in BaTiO3 nanoparticles synthesized using rambutan leaves. The nanoparticle synthesis process involved extraction, followed by the preparation of a BaTiO3 solution and doping. The FTIR spectrum displayed characteristic peaks identifying the presence of functional groups. The results indicated that the region 3500 – 3200 cm-1 corresponds to O–H groups (alcohol and phenolic), the region 1700 – 1600 cm-1 to C=O groups (carbonyl), the region 1600 – 1500 cm-1 to C=C groups (alkene), and the region 1200 – 1000 cm-1 to C–O groups (ether). Each functional group exhibits distinct properties.

Abstract

Ferroelectric materials are materials that are in great demand in high-density memory applications, such as ferroelectric random access memory, ferroelectric field effect transistors, negative capacitance field effect transistors, and ferroelectric tunnel junctions. Barium titanate (BaTiO3) is a lead-free ferroelectric material with a high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss. The method used is sol gel for the synthesis of BaTiO3 solution, extract for ketapang (Terminalia catappa) leaves, and characterized by FTIR. The FTIR spectrum synthesized with ketapang leaf extract displays several characteristic peaks in the mid-infrared region (4000 – 400 cm-1). These peaks can be determined by the specific vibration mode of the structure and organic compounds contained in the ketapang leaf extract. BaTiO3 has a cubic perovskite structure with a peak wave number of 600 cm-1. Ketapang leaf extract is incorporated into the BaTiO3 structure. BaTiO3 has a Ti–O functional group. Ketapang leaf extract has C–O, C=O, C–H, and O–H functional groups.

Abstract

The ferroelectric thin film material of barium zirconium titanate (BZT) on the fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) glass substrate was successfully prepared using the sol-gel method. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of crystal size on the variation of holding time. The lattice parameter data has a value of a = b of 3.918 Å and for c it is 4.01 Å. The results of this study indicate that the crystal structure of BZT is tetragonal because the lattice parameter has the same values a and b but not equal to c. To obtain the bandgap energy, a thin film plot method of Ba(Zr0.5Ti0.5)O3 was used at a temperature of 700°C with a holding time of 30 minutes, 1 hour, 1 hour 30 minutes, and 2 hours. The optical thin layer bandgap energy of Ba(Zr0.5Ti0.5)O3 was calculated using the Tauc plot. The absorbance values obtained were 3.277, 3.0654, 3.323, and 3.424 a.u. The maximum transmission (TM) occurs at 1 hour holding time which gives a percentage of TM1 44.477% and TM2 20.568%. While the 2 hour hold time gives a minimum transmission (Tm) of Tm1 10.859% and Tm2 7.759%, respectively.

Abstract

Perovskite materials, including barium titanate (BaTiO3), are important ferroelectric materials in industry and research today. Ferroelectrics have unique properties such as piezoelectricity, high permittivity, and electrocaloric and electrooptic effects that are beneficial in technological applications. BaTiO3, for example, is a lead-free ferroelectric material relevant for FeRAM and ferroelectric tunnel junctions. However, research on BaTiO3 flexible thin films is still limited, especially in the context of flexible substrates. Therefore, research in the preparation of stable and flexible BTO ferroelectric films is crucial for the advancement of nonvolatile memory devices. The manufacturing method in this study is the Sol Gel Method where the relative molecular mass of BaCO3 material is calculated, then the mass value is entered with the composition of (X)BaTiO3-(1-X)BaZr0.5Ti0.503. After the test is performed using mangosteen leaves, the resulting wave peaks from the FTIR Spectroscopy analysis can be seen. This is one of the characterization methods used to analyze the molecular structure and functional groups of various materials from which samples are made. This analysis indicates that mangosteen leaves contain various organic compounds, including alcohols, alkanes, and carbonyl compounds. In this research, further development is needed so that improvements can be made in the synthesis of ferroelectric material BaTiO3 used as a stabilizing agent.

Abstract

This study explores the potential of orange peel extract as a stabilizing agent in the synthesis of ferroelectric BaTiO3. Characterization using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy revealed the presence of strong acidic functional groups (O-H stretching at 3300 cm-1 and C–H sp3 chain at 2800 – 2993 cm-1 and carbonyl groups of double C–O at 1650 cm-1 in orange peel extract. These findings indicate that orange peel contains organic compounds that can be utilized in various applications.

Abstract

In this study, zinc oxide (ZnO) and silver (Ag) nanoparticles were synthesized using Annona muricata leaf extract as a reducing and stabilizing agent with variations in the molar ratio of 1:3, 1:5, and 1:7. Optical characterization using UV-Visible spectroscopy revealed that the variations of molar ratio influence the absorption peak and band gap energy of the resulting ZnO and Ag. UV-Vis results show that the molar ratio 1:5 was optimal for synthesizing ZnO and Ag. The band gap value of synthesized ZnO and Ag at a 1:5 molar ratio was 3.27 eV and 2.01 eV, with absorption peaks at 355 nm and 435 nm respectively. XRD characterization shows that ZnO nanoparticles has a hexagonal wurtzite structure with lattice parameters of a = 76 Å and c = 4. 95 Å and for Ag nanoparticles has a face centered cubic structure with lattice parameters a = b = c is 4.15 Å. Annona muricata leaves extract shows photocatalytic properties that can be applied to the degradation of polluted water. This shows that ZnO nanoparticles via green synthesis using Annona muricata leaf extract is a very simple, low-cost and environmentally friendly method.
