Abstract

The results of Integrated Science learning for Class VIII Boys at SMP IT Darul Ikhlas Al-Islami were only 18.75%, which reached the minimum limit criteria set by the school, namely 74. This was caused by several factors, such as students being lazy to ask the teacher if the subject matter they were learning was do not understand, and lack of enjoyment of reading science learning material from within students. To overcome these problems the researchers tried to apply the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMP IT Darul Ikhlas Al-Islami. This research method is classroom action research (CAR). This research was conducted in 3 cycles, each cycle consisting of 2 face-to-face meetings and 1 evaluation. The results of this class action research can be seen from the average value increasing from 30.51 in cycle I to 52.42 in cycle II, and to 80.62 in cycle III. While seen from the completeness of student learning from 0% in cycle I to 37.5% in cycle II, and to 75% in cycle III.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh belum dikembangkannya penuntun praktikum yang menjelaskan kegiatan praktikum khusus yang mengenai struktur dan fungsi tumbuhan. Penuntun praktikum yang terdapat dalam buku paket masih bersifat verifikasi, verbal dengan panduan model resep. Hal ini menyulitkan guru untuk mencari-cari terlebih dahulu kegiatan praktikum yang tepat diterapkan di sekolah, sehingga jarang dilaksanakan praktikum.Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, dikembangkan penuntun praktikum berbasis learning cycle dalam pembelajaran IPA Terpadu materi struktur dan fungsi tumbuhan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan Penuntun Praktikum Berbasis Learning Cycle pada pembelajaran IPA Terpadu Materi Struktur dan Fungsi Tumbuhan untuk Kelas VIII SMP/MTs valid dan praktis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan R&D yang menggunakan tahap dari model 4-D yang meliputi tahap define, disign, develop, dan disseminasi. Dalam penelitian ini terdapar 5 (lima) orang validator yang sesuai dengan bidang keahliannya. Adapun yang divalidasi adalah aspek kelayakan isi 93,73%, aspek kebahasaan 96,87%, aspek penyajian 96,87%, dan aspek kegrafikan 97,91%. Penuntun praktikum ini diuji praktikalitasnya oleh guru dan siswa dengan nilai rata-rata 4,00 untuk guru dan 3,59 untuk siswa. Sehingga dapat disimpukan bahwa penuntun praktikum IPA Terpadu yang dihasilkan dinyatakan sangat valid dan sangat praktis.

Abstract

Fruit peel waste, so that it is not problematic for the environment and health, can be used as a source of eco enzyme raw materials, which are the result of fermentation of fruit/vegetable residue, sugar, and water. Eco enzymes can be made by mixing organic waste, such as fruit and vegetable waste, with sugar and water in a ratio of 3: 1: 10. Basically, all fruit and vegetable waste can be used as raw material for making eco enzymes. The service activity of processing fruit peel waste into Eco-enzyme invites students to handle waste in a simple way around the school. This service activity is carried out through group practice. Making eco enzyme invites students to use this liquid as a natural cleanser, one of the experiments to handle the waste. Using fruit peel waste as an eco enzyme as an alternative to cleaning fluid adds insight and skills in processing fruit peel waste into cleaning fluid.

Abstract

The low level of students' science process skills is one of the problems faced in the learning process. Aspects of science process skills formulate hypotheses, apply concepts, ask questions, plan experiments, conduct experiments, predict, interpret data, communicate, and conclude. The type of research used is development research. The development model used is the 4 D model (define, design, develop, and dessiminate). This research only tested the validity of the science process skills instrument. The instrument used was a science process skills validity questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of material, construction, and readability. From the research that has been done, it is obtained that the science process skills instrument on the material of biotechnological innovation phase F 81% with a valid category. The instrument can be used to measure students' science process skills in biology subjects.

Abstract

Umbi-umbian merupakan komoditi dalam negeri yang mengandung karbohidrat. Komoditi ini ternyata dapat digunakan sebagai bahan pangan fungsional yang sebelumnya hanya digunakan sebagai sumber energi saja. Hal ini terjadi karena kurangnya informasi mengenai sifat fungsional yang dapat dimanfaatkan dari umbi ini. Artikel ini dibuat dengan tujuan sebagai informasi bahwa umbi ini selain sebagai sumber energi juga dapat memberi manfaat bagi kesehatan. Metode dari penelitian ini berdasarkan studi literatur dari jurnal maupun literatur ilmiah lainnya. Dari penelusuran literatur ternyata sifat fungsional tidak hanya berasal dari umbi saja namun dengan pengolahan juga dapat mempertahankan bahkan meningkatkan nilai fungsional ini. Senyawa fungsional yang terdapat dalam umbi-umbian berupa senyawa bioaktif. Beberapa senyawa bioaktif yang terdapat dalam umbi-umbian diantaranya saponin, protein bioaktif, senyawa fenolik, glikoalkaloid, asam fitat, karotenoid, dan asam askorbat. Kandungan ini umumnya banyak terdapat pada umbi-umbian yeng belum dibudidayakan secara khusus oleh masyarakat diantaranya discorea, colocasia ataupun maranta. Beberapa proses pengolahan yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan sifat fungsional pada umbi-umbian khususnya pati adalah pati resisten, modifikasi dan Microwave Assisted Extract (MAE). Sifat fungsional yang terdapat dalam umbi selain terkandung dalam umbi juga dapat berasal dari proses pengolahan yang dilakukan dalam umbi-umbian ini.

Abstract

Garlic (Allium sativum L.) is an important commodity with various benefits, both as food and medicine. One of the biggest challenges is the spread of diseases in garlic plants, which are often transmitted through bulbs or seeds used in planting. The initiation stage is the initial step of in vitro culture to obtain explants that are free of microbes and start early growth. Materials commonly used for sterilization of garlic explants are detergent, alcohol, and Clorox. Eco-enzyme is a result of the fermentation of fresh fruit waste containing bioactive compounds, such as organic acids and enzymes, which have the potential to be used as natural sterilization materials. The purpose of this study was to make eco-enzyme as a sterilization material for explants from fruit skin waste and to obtain the right explant sterilization method in in vitro culture propagation using eco-enzyme. A total of five sterilization methods have been tested in the Tissue Culture Laboratory of the Payakumbuh State Agricultural Polytechnic. The sterilization materials used were 70% alcohol, 10% Clorox, and eco-enzyme solution. The variables observed in this study were the percentage of contaminant types (fungi and bacteria), the time of contamination, and the percentage of living explants after 28 days of culture. The results showed that eco-enzyme A with a concentration of 100% has the ability as a surface sterilization material in garlic meristem culture, which produces a percentage of living explants of 100%.

Abstract

Plastic is a commonly used packaging material due to its cheap and wide availability, especially in the food industry. However, plastic is non-biodegradable, leading to a serious problem to the environment from its widespread use. Using starch-based edible films as an alternative to plastic packaging offers a solution to this problem. As opposed to conventional methods of starch extraction for edibles, modern methods such as microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) can improve the functional properties of starchThis research aimed to determine the physicochemical properties of edible films from starch extracted through MAE. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments based on the amount of added starch, namely, Treatment A (3%), Treatment B (4%), and Treatment C (5%). The results from these treatments were compared against control (without MAE). Observations were conducted in triplicate, including parameters such as solubility, thickness, water holding capacity (WHC), oil holding capacity (OHC), and water content. Treatment A (3%) was found to be the best treatment, with a solubility of 76.55%, a thickness of 0.243 mm, a WHC of 38.56%, an OHC of 36.67%, and a water content of 13.79%.

Abstract

Kebutuhan dan minat masyarakat yang besar terhadap konsumsi mie dan relative sedikitnya jumlah mie di pasaran yang memenuhi harapan masyarakat baik dari segi kualitas maupun keamanan, merupakan peluang yang sangat besar untuk berwirausaha mie sehat. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah: (1) memberikan motivasi kepada mahasiswa untuk menjalankan usaha mie sehat, (2) memberikan edukasi tentang pemanfaatan sayuran dalam pembuatan mie sehat, (3) memberikan pelatihan dan pengalaman pembuatan mie sehat berbahan sayuran. Respon mahasiswa terhadap pelatihan ini terlihat antusias mengingat mie sering dijadikan sebagai pengganti nasi bahkan sering dijadikan lauk. Dengan adanya penyuluhan tentang prospek dan cara pembuatan mie sehat, dapat menumbuhkan jiwa wirausaha mahasiswa.

Abstract

Terung dan jagung merupakan komoditas holtikultura yang berpotensi dikembangkan di Nagari Batu Balang kecamatan Harau. Namun demikian, hasil pertanian jagung dan terung tersebut belum dimaksimalkan pemanfaatannya. Kelompok Wanita tani satampang baniah cenderung langsung menjual jagung dan terung untuk memenuhi kehidupannya. Jagung dan terung yang dijual seringkali dihargai dengan sangat murah hal ini disebabkan karena jagung dan terung yang dijual tanpa pengolahan. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah: 1). Untuk memberikan solusi pada mitra dalam memanfaatkan panen jagung dan terung yang melimpah di nagari Batu Balang. 2). Meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan bagi kelompok wanita tani dalam pengolahan diversifikasi produk olahan jagung dan terung guna menambah pendapatan keluarga. Hasil dari kegiatan adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam pengolahan jagung dan terung dan terciptanya produk olahan berupa manisan terung, terung krispi, dodol terung, donat jagung dan stik jagung. Diharapkan produk ini dapat berpotensi menjadi peluang usaha dan memberikan motivasi agar terciptanya olahan jagung dan terung yang terbaru.
