Abstract

Background: The Interprofessional Education (IPE) program is important for preparing health professions students to provide future interprofessional collaborative practice. The Universitas Indonesia Health Sciences Cluster has been implementing the IPE program since 2013. A comprehensive evaluation is required following the implementation of the IPE program. The aim of the study was to evaluate the IPE course based on perceptions of undergraduate students at the Universitas Indonesia from 2013 to 2017. Methods: A mixed-methods study utilizing a semi-structured questionnaire was conducted with first year students following the completion of the first stage of the IPE course. A total of 2355 students (56.35%) from the 2013–2017 academic years completed the questionnaire. Results: The results showed that students’ perceptions of the IPE course improved each year on the domains of clear and relevant learning objectives, student-centered teaching methods, staff support, and supporting infrastructures. However, some room for improvement was identified, such as the need for tutors to have a more neutral attitude toward every student despite their background differences. Conclusion: The IPE course has been well perceived by students because of its comprehensive instructional design and principles of IPE that are implemented in the curriculum. The continuous cycles of improvement to maintain the quality of the IPE program will remain a challenge.

Abstract

Health care providers (HCP) are a group that has a high risk of being exposed to COVID-19. Due to the large number of personnel needed to handle COVID-19, in several hospitals, health volunteers were involved to assist in the treatment process. As workers who deal directly with COVID-19 patients, volunteers are the targets in this study. HCP's health behavior can influence the escalation of prevention and control cases at their level. Therefore, this study aims to examine the practice of knowledge, attitudes, prevention (KAP) and factors related to the application of 5M on volunteers (HCP) at Hospital "X", Jakarta, Indonesia. This type of research is a quantitative study, with a cross-sectional research design. A cross-sectional study, with multiple logistic regression analysis conducted on 232 volunteers (HCP) in 2021. The instrument used was a modified questionnaire from 7 previous studies, both regional and international, which have been tested for validity and reliability in the same study. group (30 volunteers) and the same hospital. Based on the results, it was found that the implementation of 5M volunteers were categorized as "poor prevention practices" (67.7%), "inadequate knowledge" (58.2%) and "negative attitudes" (55.2%), with R square through multivariate test of 0.630 which means that the influence of the independent variable on the dependent variable is 63% and the variables related to 5M behavior (p-value <0.05) are knowledge and attitudes. Attitude is known as the most dominant variable with a p-value of 0.014.

Abstract

Mental health is an important aspect in realizing overall health. It is estimated that one in four people will suffer from a mental disorder during their lifetime. There are approximately 450 million people suffering from mental and behavioral disorders worldwide where about 85% of people with severe mental disorders in developing countries do not receive treatment for their disorders. This study aims to determine the relationship between mental health literacy and help-seeking behaviors. This research method uses Systematic review to search for articles on several data based including: PubMed, EBSCO, Science Direct, ProQuest, Taylor & Francis, Scopus, and Google Scholar. Search results obtained with the keywords Mental health literacy, mental health, help-seeking behavior obtained 539 articles. After being filtered based on inclusion criteria, namely research articles relevant to the purpose of writing, free full-text, English or Indonesian, respondents' age of 15 years, and published in 2018-2022 produced 62 articles. The same article, not the result of a research or³ review article, and different articles of targets and variables were issued so that 10 articles were obtained. The result of this study is that there is a significant relationship between mental health literacy and help-seeking behaviors. The relationship of mental health literacy to help-seeking behaviors is positive meaning that an increase in scores on mental health literacy also affects an increase in scores on help-seeking behaviors. It can be concluded that the higher the level of mental health literacy, the more it can improve help-seeking behavior.

Abstract

Background: Inmates are at higher risk of developing mental problems. Correctional officers have an important role in supporting inmate's mental health. Correctional officers' insufficient understanding of mental health can contribute to adverse outcomes for mentally ill inmates in the criminal justice system. Aims: This study aimed to determine factors associated with correctional officers's mental health literacy. Methods: This is quantitative research using a cross-sectional approach. This research used secondary data from a study about Correctional Officer's Perceptions towards Mental Health, which was conducted in June 2023. The population was 1564 officers in Central Java. The independent variable was demographic factors, history of seminar/training about mental health, and previous contact with someone who has a mental health problem. The dependent variable was mental health literacy, measured with the Mental Health Knowledge Questionnaire (MHKQ). Data was analyzed bivariate with a chi-square test. Results: About 66% of correctional institution officers had low mental health literacy. The status as a healthcare worker (p=0.01), longer working duration (p=0.03), experience of attending mental health seminars (p=0.00), and contact with someone that has mental health problem (p=0.03) have a significant correlation with officer level of mental health literacy. Conclusion: Correctional officers often have limited mental health knowledge. Level of experience, job scope, contact experience with someone with a mental health problem, and mental health training positively impact their literacy. Increasing mental health education in correctional facilities is vital to enhance this, focusing on risk factors and care delivery.

Abstract

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic is a concern regarding the potential failure of exclusive breastfeeding in mothers with COVID-19. This study reviews previous research describing the protective and social support practices of exclusive breastfeeding in mothers with COVID-19.Methods: A systematic search was conducted in March-June 2021 using databases such as Scopus and PubMed with a deadline of 2020-2021 that met the inclusion criteria. 462 articles which were then entered in the elimination stage until the final 16 articles were eligible for a full text review. Study quality was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS).Results: We identified 16 studies reporting 1,865 cases of maternal infection with COVID-19. An overview of breastfeeding protection practices is carried out through rooming-in and post-delivery skin contact. This practice includes implementing strict precautions such as wearing a mask, social distancing, and maintaining hand and breast hygiene. All babies born to mothers who practice breastfeeding protection are not infected with COVID-19. Social support from health workers, families and health care management cannot be overlooked in ensuring breastfeeding continues and precautions are followed. Conclusion: In mothers with COVID-19 breastfeeding is still recommended but must be supported by strict health protocols. Social support cannot be neglected to protect exclusive breastfeeding practices and ensure that COVID-19 precautions are adhered to.
