Abstract

Implementing the blue economy concept seeks to preserve environmental stability, thereby fostering sustainable development. Therefore, it's crucial to assess the understanding of local government, fishermen, and especially coastal communities regarding their support for successful blue economy implementation. This study aims to determine the understanding of blue economy among coastal communities in Bantul and to analyse its implementation within these communities. This research employs a descriptive approach, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data. Primary data was collected through surveys using questionnaires and observations. The analysis was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach. The findings indicate that all fishermen are not yet aware of the blue economy concept. Fishing practices still align with blue economy principles regarding fishing gear. The implementation of blue economy principles is evident in the treatment of unsold fish, where they are processed. Protected fish are returned to the sea to prevent extinction, aligning with blue economy principles. To further enhance blue economy implementation, the active participation of the government, fishermen, and local communities is essential. This can be achieved through socialization and education, especially for fishing communities, about the blue economy concept.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the social and economic variables that influence workers to become migrant workers. This research was conducted in Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. As a sample in this study, we surveyed 100 people, consisting of 50 ex-migrant workers and 50 local workers. The analytical tool used was logit analysis. The estimation results show that the influential social variables are gender, age, marital status, and education. Economic variables that affect former migrant workers include ownership of savings, ownership of loans, ownership of agricultural land, and ownership of livestock, all of which have a negative effect. The policy implications of this research are the need for new regulations or revisions to previous regulations to improve human resources at the time of pre-placement. This regulation should involve training in language skills and the abilities required for the relevant field of work to increase competitiveness. Furthermore, policies to empower migrant workers post-placement should be implemented to provide more significant opportunities and support for working or starting businesses in their home countries.JEL Classification: J61, O15How to Cite:Haer, J., & Yuniarti, D. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Labor, Exchange Rate, Trade Openness, and Inflation on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in 10 G20 countries. The data used are panel data obtained from UNCTAD and the World Bank for the period 2013–2022. The analytical method applied is panel data analysis using the Seemingly Unrelated Regression (SUR) approach with the help of Stata14 software. The results show that Trade Openness and Inflation do not have a significant effect on FDI. The Labor variable has a significant positive effect, indicating that an increase in labor can encourage FDI inflows. Meanwhile, GDP and Exchange Rate have a significant negative effect on FDI in the 10 G20 countries, suggesting that rising GDP and a weakening exchange rate may reduce foreign investor interest.

Abstract

Income inequality remains a major challenge for regional economic development, particularly in Banten Province, which is characterized by pronounced regional disparities driven by urbanization and economic agglomeration. This phenomenon is influenced by various economic and social factors that have not yet been comprehensively examined within the regional context of Banten.  Research on income inequality in Banten is therefore essential, as rapid economic growth concentrated in industrial areas has not necessarily translated into an equitable distribution of welfare across regencies and cities. This study aims to analyze the effects of economic growth, the Human Development Index (HDI), minimum wage, number of firms, and poverty rate on income inequality in eight regencies and cities in Banten Province over the period 2011–2023. The study employs a quantitative approach using panel data regression, combining both time-series and cross-sectional data. The results indicate that HDI has a positive and statistically significant effect on income inequality. In contrast, minimum wage, number of firms, and poverty rate exhibit significant negative effects on income inequality, while economic growth does not have a statistically significant impact. These findings are expected to provide valuable insights for local governments in designing policies that promote more equitable economic development and reduce income inequality in Banten Province.
