Abstract

PT XYZ is a furniture company specializing in products made from wood and rattan. PT XYZ has suboptimal problems controlling raw material inventories, resulting in inventory cost overruns and warehouse overcapacity. This research aims to determine the optimization of the amount of furniture raw material in the inventory according to the available warehouse capacity using the Lagrange Multiplier method. From the research results, it was found that the total warehouse using the Lagrange Multiplier method was 107,922 m3, which shows that this value is optimal because it does not exceed the capacity of the warehouse owned by PT XYZ, which is 108 m3. By applying the Lagrange Multiplier method, it is possible to save total inventory costs of IDR 17.219.173 or 6.36% of the company's total inventory costs, with an order size of 37 m3 for mindi wood and 26 m3 for mahogany wood.

Abstract

In Indonesia, cooking oil is very important as a food ingredient. Where the production volume of a product can affect distribution system decisions. An efficient distribution process can provide a competitive advantage in terms of cost and service. Distribution at PT ABC is currently still done manually, besides that the company has not optimized the transport capacity of vehicles so that it results in swelling distribution costs, as well as distribution bridges. This research is aimed at finding the most optimal distribution route for cooking oil products at PT A using the Ant Colony Optimization method. After processing the data using the Ant Colony Optimization method, the optimal fortune cooking oil distribution route was obtained by dividing it into 4 subroutes with a total mileage of 2371 KM with a total distribution cost of Rp. 1,612,960. and the total mileage of the initial route was 2693 KM with a total distribution cost of Rp. 1,831,240. So we get a total savings in mileage of 322 KM and savings in total distribution costs of Rp. 218,960. Therefore, the results obtained using the Ant Colony Optimization method will be selected as the proposed method.

Abstract

CV XYZ is a manufacturer of woven sarong in East Java. The problem faced challenges with excess rayon yarn inventory, leading to overcapacity in storage and high costs. Additionally, suppliers' minimum order requirements exacerbate the issue. This study uses the Lagrange Multiplier and Theory of Constraint methods to optimize rayon yarn inventory to minimize costs and storage needs. The results reveal an adjusted storage space requirement of 84 m³, with details of the total storage space and the minimum order quantity, namely rayon yarn R80/2 of 28.32 m³ (147 boxes), R60/2 of 25.80 m³ (134 boxes), and R32/2 of 29.88 m³ (155 boxes). This method also reduces the total inventory cost to IDR 30,640,592, achieving a remarkable 84.61% saving (IDR 168,574,408) compared to the company's current process. The findings demonstrate that combining Lagrange Multiplier and TOC effectively addresses storage limitations, optimizes order quantities, and minimizes inventory costs.
