Abstract

Abstract

Noise is one of physical hazard in coal mining and a cause of hearing loss. Hearing loss is a partial or complete loss of hearing in one or both ears. Several risk factors for hearing loss are work period and daily dose of noise exposure. This research aims to investigate the relationship between work period and daily dose of noise exposure with hearing loss in coal miners at PT.X. The research used analytical observational study design with cross-sectional study approach. The data on hearing loss among miners were collected from the result of audiometry at routine medical check-up held by the company, while the data work period were collected from HR and daily dose of noise exposure data were collected by measuring the dose of noise exposure using a purposive sampling method. The data were collected and selected using purposive sampling metdhod. 83 miners fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The bivariate analysis was perfomed using Chi-Square test. The results of this research showed that there was a relationship between working period and hearing loss with p-value = 0.000 (p<0.05) and there was a relationship between daily dose of noise exposure and hearing loss with p-value = 0.001 (p <0.05). The purpose of this study was to describe the level of OSHE knowledge of garbage collectors in Samarinda City. The research design is descriptive observational with 80 research respondents. Using a simple random sampling technique using a questionnaire. This is a one-variable descriptive observational study. The results of this study show that the OSHE knowledge level of Garbage Collectors is (94%) in the "Good" category, OSHE knowledge is based on the education level of High school (42%) in the "Good" category, Junior High School (23%) in the "Less" category, Elementary School (34%) "Less" category. Based on length of service, it is classified into 1-5 years with results (57%) in the "Good" category, 6-10 years (31%) in the "Less" category and workers more than 10 years (12%) in the "Less" category. The conclusion of this study is that the OSHE level of knowledge of garbage collection officers in Samarinda City is "Good" with the characteristics of the education level respondents who have the "Good" category from the High school class and in terms of length of work characteristics who have the "Good" category from the 1-5 year worker group.

Abstract

Dental and oral diseases affect 90% of Indonesia's population, one of which is caries. Based on Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) data for the East Kalimantan region, Berau Regency has the second highest prevalence of caries or cavities after West Kutai, namely 56.08%. The environment is one of the factors that influences the occurrence of caries, one of which is water. A pH value below 6.5-8 indicates that the water is acidic, which can increase the risk factor for caries. The aim of this research is to analyse the differences in the dental caries index based on the pH of well water and PDAM water used by the community in Sido Bangen Village. This research uses observational research with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique. The population of this study was the people of Kelay District. The total sample was 78 people, who were divided into 2 groups, namely 39 research subjects who used well water and 39 research subjects who used PDAM water. The results of the independent sample T test showed that there was a difference in the DMF-T index between users of well water and PDAM water with p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). The results of the Mann-Whitney test show that there is a difference in pH values between the pH of well water and PDAM water, with p = 0.000 (p < 0.05).

Abstract

Wearable Internet of Things (IoT) devices for pregnant women have emerged as a significant innovation in healthcare. This technology enables real-time monitoring of maternal and fetal health, providing data that facilitates faster and more accurate medical decision-making. This article presents a literature review on the development and implementation of wearable IoT for pregnant women and its impact on healthcare services. The study identifies various types of wearable devices, monitored health parameters, and the technical and ethical challenges associated with their use. The findings reveal that wearable IoT can enhance healthcare quality through early detection of pregnancy complications, improved efficiency of medical personnel, and reduced healthcare costs. However, issues such as data privacy, device sustainability, and technological disparities remain major challenges that require further attention. This review provides valuable insights for technology developers, healthcare providers, and researchers to maximize the potential of wearable IoT in supporting maternal health holistically.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the larvicidal potential of Eleutherine palmifolia (Dayak onion) and Allium sativum (garlic), which are rich in flavonoids and known to possess insecticidal properties. The study used a pure experimental design with a post-test control group. Aedes aegypti larvae were tested with Eleutherine palmifolia and Allium sativum extracts at concentrations of 0.6%, 1.2%, and 1.8%, respectively, along with abate as a positive control. Larval mortality was monitored for 24 hours with four replicates. The results showed that Allium sativum was highly effective at all concentrations (99–100% mortality), even at the 0.6% concentration. In contrast, Eleutherine palmifolia exhibited varying effectiveness, with mortality rates of 67%, 67%, and 84% at concentrations of 0.6%, 1.2%, and 1.8%, respectively. These findings confirm that Allium sativum has superior, consistent, and stable larvicidal effectiveness even at low doses, making it a promising alternative for mosquito control and dengue prevention.

Abstract

Anemia is a condition of not having enough number of red blood cells or hemoglobin to carry oxygen to supply the body's physiological needs. The occurrence of anemia in adolescent girls can be influenced by various factors. This study aimed to determine the factors that influence the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls at Senior High School in Samarinda city. The design of this research was analytical observational with the cross sectional approach. Primary data was obtained using the interview with Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practice (KAP) Questionnaire and SAMANTA Questionnaire, and hemoglobin levels were examined using haemometer digital. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with 98 respondents represented by a 10th grade student in Senior High School 6 Palaran District. The bivariate analysis used was the chi-square test. The results of the analysis between anemia status and the level of knowledge about anemia, nutritional status, menstrual patterns, parental income, and maternal education sequentially obtained showed p-values of 0.645; 0.279; 0.654; 0.551; 0.776. Based on the results of the study, it is concluded that there is no significant relationship between the factors and the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls at Senior High School 6 Palaran District.
