Abstract

Osteoporosis is a common health problem among the elderly, particularly in women, caused by decreased bone mass influenced by age, hormonal changes, lifestyle, nutritional intake, and physical activity. WHO data (2015) shows that the prevalence of osteoporosis in women increases significantly with age, and in Indonesia, the prevalence has reached an alarming level of 19.7% of the population. West Java has recorded an osteoporosis risk of 22.3% (Ministry of Health, 2015). Low calcium intake and lack of physical activity are modifiable factors that can help prevent bone density loss. This health education program aimed to increase the knowledge of Aisyiyah District Leaders in Cirebon Regency regarding osteoporosis in the elderly, its risk factors, prevention strategies, and its impact on joint health. The target participants were pre-elderly and elderly women, especially members of the Branch and District Leaders of Aisyiyah in Cirebon Regency. The method used included lectures and question-and-answer sessions supported by presentation media. Participants’ knowledge was evaluated using oral pre-tests and post-tests. The program outcomes are expected to raise awareness and understanding of the importance of consuming calcium-rich foods, getting adequate sunlight exposure, and engaging in regular physical activity as preventive measures against osteoporosis. Furthermore, this activity plays a role in reducing the incidence of osteoporosis among the elderly through continuous community-based health education.

Abstract

Caesarean section (CS) is a surgical delivery method whose incidence continues to increase globally. The World Health Organization (2021) reports that approximately 21% of births worldwide are by CS, and this figure is expected to increase to 29% by 2030. In Indonesia, 21.4% of mothers still experience labor complications, while in Cirebon City, approximately 2,700 mothers gave birth in 2024. One of the main problems after CS is acute pain, which is reported to be experienced by 60% of patients within the first 24 hours despite analgesic therapy. This condition can affect patient comfort, sleep quality, and mobility. Therefore, additional safe and effective interventions are needed to help reduce postoperative pain. One non-pharmacological method that has proven beneficial is foot massage, which can increase relaxation, improve blood circulation, and reduce pain perception. This case study was conducted on Mrs. L, a post-CS patient at Gunung Jati Regional Hospital. Foot massage intervention was given for 15 minutes, twice daily, for three consecutive days. Pain levels were measured using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). The results showed a decrease in pain from a scale of 7 before the intervention to a scale of 4 after three days of foot massage. The patient reported feeling more comfortable, improved sleep quality, and improved mobility, with no side effects observed. The conclusion of this case study is that foot massage therapy is effective in reducing acute pain in post-C-section patients and can be used as an additional intervention in maternity nursing practice. Nurses are advised to implement this therapy as part of comprehensive care to help reduce pain from surgical wounds and improve the quality of maternal recovery after C-section.

Abstract

The 2021 Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) shows that 1 in 4 Indonesian children suffers from stunting and 1 in 10 children suffers from malnutrition. Good nutrition is a crucial foundation for optimal growth and development, especially for those growing up in vulnerable environments. According to the WHO, stunting is a failure of growth and development experienced by children due to prolonged inadequate nutritional intake, recurrent infectious diseases, and inadequate psychosocial stimulation. However, on the other hand, children who experience stunting are usually accompanied by developmental delays in various other organs, especially if malnutrition occurs during the first 1000 days of life (HPK). Stunting is defined as a child's length for age (PB/A) or height for age (H/A) that is lower than -2 standard deviations. Therefore, a child with stunting is definitely stunted, but a child who is stunted is not necessarily stunted. Stunting that occurs before a child is 2 years old is an indication of decreased cognitive abilities at a later age if not followed by adequate psychosocial stimulation, thus impacting academic or educational abilities later in life. Providing innovative education such as making moringa pudding is one way to present nutritious and creative food or drinks so that it can be accepted by kindergarten mothers who have toddlers and preschoolers. The content of moringa leaves is a food ingredient that has good nutritional value, especially for preventing stunting in children.
