Abstract

A linguistic interpretation appeared at the hands of the Sheikh al-Azhar, Muhammad Sayed Tantawi, whose field was in tafsir. He wrote a tafsir book of the Holy Qur'an in thirty volumes until he became famous as an interpreter, modernizer, and Islamic thinker. He formulated his interpretation with balāghah's (Arabic Rhetoric) explanation in linguistic studies. The problem was whether Sheikh al-Azhar specialized in linguistic studies. This study aims to find his scientific personality and creativity in the balāghah explanation. The researchers used inductive and analytical approaches in three sections (juz) of Tafsīr al-Wasīṭ: the first, second, and third. The finding is that Sheikh al-Azhar was a prominent figure in the balāghah aspect, as he created a single opinion when explaining the rhetorical verses of the Qur'an. In his explanation, he may transfer from the books of the former interpreters. However, he was not only satisfied with conveying their opinions but also showed the existence of scientific discussion among the interpreters, adding a new opinion, preferring an opinion, or confirming a correct opinion by relying on Arabic grammar, tafsir, and hadith. This work indicated the existence of multidisciplinary studies in linguistics and Islamic studies.

Abstract

The ever-growing dynamics of education require the proper strategic steps in dealing with changing user trends and graduate job vacancies. The Master's Program in Arabic Language Education seeks to take proactive measures regarding the relevance of curricula to the requirements of the world of work. This study aims to conduct a tracer study for graduates and users to reveal the suitability of the work field for graduates with the jobs targeted in the curriculum document, the waiting period for work, and the skills used in the field of Arabic teaching, and to reveal the suitability of the Arabic teaching curriculum in the master's degree to meet the challenges of the world. It is because of the user-oriented business that continues to grow. This research relied on the qualitative descriptive approach. Primary data was collected from 2018-2020 alums and users. Distributed questionnaires, interviews, and group discussions implemented data collection techniques. The data analysis technique reduces data, presents data, and draws conclusions. Some results of this study are that the graduates' work is 82% suitable with the curriculum documents; 63% of alums become Arabic language teachers in schools and colleges, 19% become government employees, and 18% work freelance out of education and Arabic fields. Then, the average waiting period to work is less than six months. The skill that has a significant impact on graduate employment is technology-based teaching skills. Arabic handwriting skills, especially Khat, and Islamic studies skills are considered to have a minor effect. This study recommends modifying this curriculum toward a technology-based Arabic teaching concept. The use of digital media in every single course must be the primary principle to avoid losing out to Arabic YouTubers. This curriculum should also strengthen research methodology and publish articles and books.

Abstract

This research examines the possibilities and limitations of using ChatGPT in learning Arabic as a foreign language. Using a descriptive method, this study presents theories regarding using ChatGPT in language learning and how it is practically applied in learning Arabic as a foreign language. It also highlights the limitations learners should consider when using this application correctly and effectively. This research indicates that ChatGPT can assist Arabic language learners as "smart students" and "smart learning partner." With this role, ChatGPT can help them complete tasks and assignments, create a flexible and personalized learning environment, and improve their language skills. However, learners should also be mindful of the limitations of using ChatGPT, especially regarding ethical aspects and the limitations of the technology itself. They should maintain academic ethics and avoid excessive dependence on ChatGPT, which could negatively impact their critical thinking abilities, engagement spirit, and learning motivation.

Abstract

This research stems from the increasing interest in religious songs that blend spiritual messages with poetic elements. The purpose of this study is to analyze the stylistic features in the lyrics of Rahmatan Lil Alamin by Maher Zain using a stylistic approach. This qualitative descriptive research employs the stylistic theory by Gorys Keraf, focusing on language style elements such as rhetorical, comparative, and repetition styles. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using content analysis to identify and classify language styles found in the lyrics. The findings reveal that the lyrics employ a variety of language styles: comparative styles, such as similes and metaphors, are used to portray divinity and moral values; rhetorical styles, like rhetorical questions and hyperbole, emphasize spiritual longing; and repetition styles strengthen the emotional tone and the central theme of universal mercy. These stylistic devices not only enhance the aesthetic value of the lyrics but also deepen their religious meaning, making the song both artistically engaging and spiritually resonant. Keywords: Stylistics, Religious Song, Maher Zain, Arabic Language Style

Abstract

“This study aims to reveal and explain the stylistic features of the dialogue between Prophet Solomon, the Hoopoe bird, and Queen Bilqis in Surah Al-Naml, verses 20 to 44, to explore the beauty of the Qur'an from both its linguistic and semantic aspects. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The primary source for this study is Surah Al-Naml, verses 20 to 44, while secondary sources include all relevant literature related to this research. Data collection was carried out using the method of intralinguistic equivalence, complemented by note-taking techniques. This study's findings reveal two sentence patterns in the dialogue between Prophet Solomon and the Hoopoe bird as well as Queen Bilqis: declarative sentences (kalam khabar) and imperative sentences (kalam insya'). The declarative expressions serve the purpose of conveying information and its inherent benefit. The study also identifies sentences that convey the meanings of contrast request and prayer, functioning as expressions of regret. On the other hand, imperative expressions reflect command, inquiry, and exclamation meanings. Additionally, sentences indicating astonishment or surprise were found.”

This study aims to know the secrets of the appropriate choice of the words sakinah (serenity), mawaddah (affection),and rahmah (mercy) and their arrangement in verse among married couples who wanted a permanent marriage without regret according to the Qur’anic approach. This study relied on the descriptive analytical method of these three words that appeared in Surah Al-Rum, verse 21. The method of collecting its data was based on reviewing and repeated reading of that verse according to the opinions of mufassir who interpreted this verse. The study reached results that the interpreters differed in understanding the meanings of these three words, especially the meaning of sakinah between the meaning of reassurance, tranquillity, and well-being at the economic level. However, they agreed that sakinah is the primary goal in the marital relationship, and affection and compassion are two means of achieving the success of the marital relationship.
