Abstract

In the context of rising misinformation on social media, this study examines the influence of hoaxes spread through fake TikTok accounts on public opinion during Indonesia's 2024 presidential election. The study aims to analyze how fake accounts, including notable examples like @ridwanyulio and @sendycahyani1744, leverage hoaxes to sway political perceptions, undermine trust in democratic processes, and foster social division. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected through observational analysis of comments, engagement, and content shared by these accounts. The data was then analyzed to explore patterns of misinformation, strategies used to manipulate narratives, and the resulting public impact. Findings indicate that these accounts employ targeted and organized hoax tactics, utilizing edited videos and images to propagate misleading narratives. The study concludes that such hoaxes pose a threat to information integrity, potentially leading to increased polarization and conflict. The implications of this research highlight the need for robust media literacy programs, stricter platform regulations, and collaborative efforts among stakeholders to combat misinformation, thereby supporting a healthier democratic environment.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of persuasive communication in resolving stall layout conflicts at Losari Kidul Modern Market, Cirebon Regency. Conflicts arise due to the disorderly placement of traders' stalls that interfere with the comfort of visitors and cause unfair competition. The research uses a qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation methods, and integrates the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) Theory and Fisher and Ury Conflict Resolution Theory. The results show that persuasive communication strategies, such as open discussion, mediation, and negotiation, are successful in improving traders' adherence to layout rules. The central path (logical argument) and peripheral path (emotional connection) approach in ELM has been shown to be effective in influencing trader behavior. In addition, mediation based on the principle of win-win solution has succeeded in creating a fair solution for all parties. This research provides academic contributions in the field of persuasive communication and conflict management, as well as practical recommendations for market managers to create an orderly and harmonious environment.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic is driving changes in how music concerts are produced, and tarling music is no exception. The government's policy, which included the implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) and the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKPM), forced the event organizer, which used to hold entertainment stage concerts, including tarling music, to cease operations. Economically, the tarling musicians lose money because they are out of work for too long. Tarling musicians in Cirebon, West Java, are trying to break through in a variety of ways, including holding virtual music concerts. The purpose of this research is to uncover the practice of tarling music production in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as how tarling music agents adapt to their new habits regarding production methods through remediation strategies practiced through virtual and hybrid environments. This is a qualitative study that employs the paradigm of cultural materialism, as defined by Marvin Harris (1980a, p. 277), who believes that the material conditions of society determine human consciousness rather than the other way around. This research uses documentation study, observation, interviews, recording, and literature study as data collection methods. As a result, the Tarling music artist agency aggressively reforms the form of stage performance that is perceived as reality and presents it in the form of virtual and hybrid reality.

Abstract

This study analyzes how national online media construct and respond to the dominant and dramatic communication style of public official Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. The research aims to (1) examine how media framing constructs Purbaya’s communication style, (2) identify the representation of dominant and dramatic communication characteristics in quoted statements and media narratives, and (3) explain media resistance mechanisms that emerge through framing practices. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study applies Robert N. Entman’s Framing Theory and James McCroskey’s Communication Style Theory. The data consist of news articles published by four national online media outlets, CNN Indonesia, Tempo.co, Kompas.com, and Detik.com, during the period from September 8 to November 30, 2025. Data were collected through documentation of selected news texts and analyzed by examining framing elements and communication style indicators across media outlets. The findings show that each media outlet constructs Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa’s communication style differently according to its editorial orientation. CNN Indonesia and Tempo.co tend to normalize dominant and dramatic communication as part of institutional authority through technocratic and policy-oriented framing, resulting in minimal media resistance. In contrast, Kompas.com produces normative resistance by evaluating communication style based on public communication ethics, while Detik.com emphasizes dramatic and confrontational elements, generating symbolic resistance through sensational and conflict-oriented framing. The study concludes that media resistance toward a public official’s communication style is not uniform, but is shaped by selective framing strategies and editorial priorities, demonstrating the media’s active role in constructing public perception rather than merely reflecting individual communication traits.
