Abstract

One of the abilities that should come first is reading comprehension as it allows students to learn more on their own. Supported by developments over time, the existence of the internet and mobile devices has made humans more advanced in many things, one of which is reading. As mobile devices are today used as a natural means of communication and entertainment, they replace the traditional acquisition of knowledge and memorization of information. There are many recent discoveries in mobile technology such as applications and websites, quizizz is one of them. Quizizz is a quiz distribution application that is easy to use and understand by students. The research focus on measuring students' perceptions of Quizizz as an assessment tool, examining the extent to which Quizizz usage affects student perception in learning, and investigating its correlation with students' reading comprehension. This study uses a mix method. The participant consists of 35 students from 12 MIPA 3 with 15 male and 20 female. The data were collected through questionnaires and scanning reading question. The result of this study reveals that most students have positive perceptions regarding the usage of Quizizz as a teaching media and it is suggested to English teachers for using scanning technique in teaching reading, and also using Quizizz can improve reading comprehend skill of students better.

Abstract

This research aims to find out evidence about the effectiveness of learning methods via telegram media on the listening skills of class 10 senior high school students, in 2022/2023. The research method used to collect data is the experimental method using the Nonequivalent Control Group Design research design. The subjects in this research were students in class 10 science 2 and 10 science 3 from Semen Gresik Senior High School which had the same number of students, namely 20. The data collection technique in this research was using observation sheets and listening test skills sheets through applications. telegram. Analysis of the data obtained is: (1) The results of listening via the Telegram application prove that there are differences after being given a test between the control class and the experimental class. Proven by the results of the control class posttest score of 73.75. Meanwhile, the posttest score for the experimental class was 86.75. (2) Testing the hypothesis in this study using the Independent Sample Test t-test obtained significant results, namely 0.000 < 0.05. So it can be concluded that there is effectiveness of the listening learning method through the Telegram application for class 10 Senior High School.

Abstract

To boost English major students’ autonomous learning beyond classroom learning through the Self-Access Center (SAC), the provision of learning resources and activities in SAC should meet their needs. The issue that arises is that little is known about the specific needs of autonomous learning in SAC for English major students. This research focuses on autonomous learning based on the needs of digital authentic resources and activities through SAC as accelerated learning outside the classroom for students majoring in English. A mixed method was applied based on the need analysis model by Hutchinson and Waters (1987). Around 51 English major students of UMM as users of “American Corner” (Amcor) UMM were required to fill out the questionnaires consisting of 6 questions adapted from Ortiz (2006) and 16 of them were selected as interview participants. Observation was also held to support both data. The findings revealed the digital authentic resource needed, lacking, and wanted the most by English major students. Additionally, the types of activities needed the most to support autonomous learning in SAC were also described. The implication of the research is for SAC managers to consider future development and recommendations of resource provision as well as ideas for forthcoming programs of SAC based on the identified needs particularly for the English major students.

Abstract

Model pembelajaran menggunakan problem-based learning menjadi salah satu cara yang diterapkan oleh pengajar untuk dapat mempengaruhi kemampuan berpikir siswa. Dalam menerapkan problem-based learning, terdapat pembelajaran berdiferensiasi yang diterapkan sehingga setiap anak dapat memperoleh pengajaran sesuai kemampuannya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisa efektivitas model pembelajaran problem-based learning terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis dengan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi pada peserta didik SMKN 1 Cerme. Metode penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif melalui penyebaran kuesioner. Teknik analisa data dilakukan dengan menggunakan paired t-test untuk dapat menguji efektivitas antara problem-based learning terhadap berpikir kritis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat efektivitas antara problem-based learning terhadap berpikir kritis menggunakan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi pada peserta didik SMKN 1 Cerme pada kelompok “mahir”, “siap”, dan “berkembang”.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui minat belajar peserta didik menggunakan pendekatan Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT). Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Dengan metode pengumpulan data yang dilakukan dengan memberikan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kategori peserta didik minat rendah sebesar 12%, kategori minat sedang sebesar 62%, dan kategori minat tinggi sebesar 26. Untuk peresentase tiap indikator yaitu perasaan senang sebesar 67%, perhatian sebesar 65%, ketertarikan sebesar 78%, keterlibatan peserta didik 72%. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan keterlibatan peserta didik mendapatkan peresentase paling tinggi sedangkan perhatian yang paling rendah. Sehingga rata-rata minat belajar menggunakan pendekatan Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) ada pada kategori sedang.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai media pembelajaran dengan memasukkan local wisdom agar peserta didik mendapatkan pengetahuan yang lebih bermakna. Local wisdom merupakan identitas bangsa dan pandangan hidup yang terwujud dalam berbagai bidang kehidupan di daerah tertentu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sebuah video animasi dengan mengetahui tingkat kelayakannya serta respon peserta didik termasuk tingkat keterbacaan terhadap media pembelajaran animasi yang bermuatan local wisdom daerah Gresik pada Mata Pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Aalam dan Sosial kelas IV sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Research & Development menggunakan model ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Evaluate). Adapun subjek penelitian ini melibatkan 21 peserta didik kelas IV Sekolah Dasar Muhammadiyah Gresik. Hasil validasi materi oleh ahli memperoleh persentase kelayakan sebesar 93%, sementara validasi dari ahli media memperoleh persentase sebesar 91%, dan respon peserta didik sebesar 89% yang semuanya termasuk dalam kategori “sangat layak”.  Hasil persentase dari uji keterbacaan media yang diperoleh pada aspek materi yaitu sebesar 85,71%, aspek kebahasaan sebesar 83,33%, aspek visual sebesar 85,71%, dan audio sebesar 80,95%. Berdasarkan keseluruhan hasil uji yang dilakukan, media animasi yang dikembangkan dapat dikatakan layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of the Picture word inductive model focusing on Indonesian culture to improve the English vocabulary acquisition ability of grade 5 students at Ban Erawan school, Thailand. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental design type involving two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. The researcher collected quantitative data by distributing pre-test and post-test to 30 students in the experimental and control groups. The researcher analyzed the data obtained from the post-test scores of the experimental group and the control group using the Mann-Whitney test on the SPSS application. From the results of the quantitative analysis, it is known that there is a difference in vocabulary acquisition between the experimental group and the control group with the significant level p<0,05 (p=.000). This suggest that Picture Word Inductive model focusing on Indonesian culture was proven to improve students' English vocabulary acquisition. In addition, students gave positive responses during data collection. The selection of learning media that is interesting and favored by students can facilitate the learning process of students and increase student motivation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines the impact of the Mentimeter web-based application on enhancing EFL students' reading skills. Using a pre-experimental design, 36 students from Class X-C at MAS Al-Fatich Surabaya participated in a pre-test and post-test. The findings reveal a significant improvement in students' reading skills, with the average score increasing from 81.56 to 89.00 after the treatment. Statistical analysis using a paired t-test showed a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000, indicating a highly significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores. The Mentimeter application effectively engaged students through interactive quizzes and real-time feedback, fostering active participation and improving comprehension. However, the study also highlights the challenge of reliance on stable internet connectivity for optimal implementation. Overall, the research concludes that the Mentimeter application is a valuable tool for improving EFL students' reading skills and offers insights for integrating technology into language learning. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah soal cerita pada materi fungsi komposisi dan fungsi invers. Menurut Polya terdapat beberapa langkah dalam menyelesaikan masalah yakni yaitu memahami masalah, perencanaan pemecahan masalah, melaksanakan perencanaan pemecahan masalah, dan melihat kembali kelengkapan pemecahan masalah. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yakni 3 siswa kelas XI-6 SMAN 1 Gresik yang diambil berdasarkan perbedaan kemampuan matematis yang telah diuji menggunakan tes diagnostik awal, kemudaian diwawancara hasil kerja mereka berdasarkan langkah-langkah Polya. Pengumpulan data adalah tes diagnostik, tes tulis dan wawancara. Teknink analisis data yakni deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian yaitu siswa dalam kategori kemampuan matematis tinggi dapat menyelesaikan soal dengan benar dan melalui tahapan dengan tepat sesuai dengan prosedur Polya; siswa dalam kategori sedang dapat menyelesaikan soal dengan benar, tetapi masih kurang tepat dalam mengikuti tahapan sesuai dengan prosedur Polya; dan siswa dalam kategori kemampuan matematis rendah masih kurang mampu menyelesaikan soal dengan benar dan sesuai dengan prosedur pemecahan masalah polya.
