Abstract

The production of carton boxes is an energy-intensive process that generates various contaminants, polluting water and air, and affecting both ecology and human health. This study focuses on the environmental impact during the carton box production process at PT XYZ, aiming to calculate and analyze the environmental impact while measuring the eco-efficiency level of the production process. The research method employed in this study is quantitative descriptive, with primary data sources consisting of interviews, while secondary data includes company reports. Data were processed using SimaPro software and the Eco Indicator 99 method. Eco-efficiency measurement was conducted using the Life Cycle Assessment approach. The results indicate that the production of 1 ton of carton boxes generates an environmental impact of 315 Pt, with the largest contributions coming from the corrugating, folding, and customer delivery stages. The eco-cost value was IDR8,922,503, yielding an eco-efficiency index of 1.34, indicating that the production process is environmentally friendly and economical. However, the eco-efficiency ratio of 25.6% is still considered low, necessitating improvements in energy efficiency and emission reduction. Recommended improvements include substituting fossil fuels with renewable energy, selecting environmentally friendly suppliers, and replacing or modifying machinery to enhance efficiency and reduce emissions.

Abstract

Femoral fractures are among the most common and severe musculoskeletal injuries, necessitating effective and reliable treatment strategies. This study explores the biomechanical performance of femur implants by evaluating the effects of material selection and implant design using the finite element method (FEM). Three biocompatible materials—titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V, stainless steel, and PEEK—were analyzed under linear elastic isotropic conditions. Implant designs varied in length (10.02 mm, 13.37 mm, and 15.60 mm) with a fixed head thickness of 3 mm. Simulations assessed stress distribution, deformation, and overall structural performance under physiological loading conditions. Results demonstrated that implant length significantly affects mechanical behavior. The 15.60 mm implants exhibited the most uniform stress distribution and minimal deformation, indicating superior mechanical stability. In contrast, shorter implants (e.g., 10.02 mm) showed increased stress concentrations and deformation, suggesting a higher risk of mechanical failure. Among the materials tested, Ti-6Al-4V outperformed others due to its favorable combination of strength and biocompatibility. The study concludes that longer implants made from titanium alloy provide improved structural integrity, offering safer and more durable options for femoral fracture repair. These findings contribute to the optimization of implant design for enhanced clinical outcomes in orthopedic applications

Abstract

Industrialization in Indonesia contributes significantly to increased emissions. PT XYZ as a seasoning producer faces challenges in managing the environmental impact of its supply chain activities, especially in seasoning flour products which have the highest productivity reaching 25,793 tons in 2023. This study aims to measure the level of emissions generated during the supply chain process of seasoning flour products using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method with a gate to gate approach. Data collection was carried out through interviews and secondary data collection from company documents related to process procedures, energy consumption, raw material usage, and supply chain operational data. Data was processed using SimaPro 9.0 software with the ReCiPe 2016 Midpoint method. The results showed a high level of emissions. The terrestrial acidification category reached 4.97 kg.SO₂, far above the standard limit of 600 mg.SO₂ per year. Normalization results identified the production stage as the largest contributor with three categories of marine ecotoxicity (27.3), freshwater ecotoxicity (17.5), and human carcinogenic toxicity (13.5). The high emissions are caused by significant electricity consumption for operational systems and production machinery, as well as transportation use. Recommendations for improvement include optimizing production energy, managing machine operating time, utilizing solar panels, and others.

Abstract

This paper explores structural inefficiencies that have been engrained into the delivery procedures, a distributor of industrial gas products, in the context of wastage reduction and improvement on logistic responsiveness, by means of adopting lean distribution. An initial inspection identified extended lead time and operational delays based on delays based on waiting and transport inefficiencies as well as redundant motion, which signified a tangled and non-integrated workflow that was document dependant. Combining Process Activity Mapping (PAM), root cause analysis and 5W+1H technique, the work produced vital, non-value-added activities and recommended focused interventions to reinstate process flow and timing purity. The endeavours of the implementation of the lean-based redesign served to cut down the total time of lead by 14.6 per cent largely through removing the actual bottlenecks in the procedure and also making coordinated handovers on a digital platform. In addition to enhancing efficient stages, the research illustrates that lean distribution serves as a form of structural redesign, which shifts the delivery process out of the series of sequential activities to an integrated, real-time, and demand-oriented system. Such findings validate the view that to enhance the logistics performance in this kind of time-sensitive environment, a reduction of waste is not a sufficient condition but rather a planned transition to digitally-assisted, flow-based process configurations.
